Hey /k/ my dad got a Remington model 11 for free and I was trying to figure out when it was made. Serial number is 348XXX. There's also a stock imprint that says Remington UMC, it's my impression that this name was only used in the early twenties. On other sites I was told to look for a three letter code on the left side of the barrel near the receiver. Pic related is it, which code is it

Improved Cylinder is the choke type on your shotgun, doofus.
OP here, I saw somewhere that a 335 serial number was made in 1928 which doesn't make sense with the UMC stamp.

I feel very dumb. But still, if it doesn't have a code then it must be before a certain date correct?
>>32646682
Outside of patent dates, no. We'd need to see the entire serial number to accurately date it.

348476

Wait, I just remember on guns that had removable barrels Remington would put a code on the underside of the barrel. Remove the forearm.

Here is a video for reference, just remove the barrel and find the code on the underside.

Here it is
It says WX 2 and then a sideways L
OP here, from what I saw online, it's from August of 1942 does that sound correct?

Yea, that sounds about right. Remington used double letters during the 1940s until the early 50s
