What is the best AR-15 I can buy for around $1000?

It will be my first gun, I am willing to spend slightly more if the quality is worth it.
>>
>>32638504
The one you build.
>>
>>32638517
I know but I have zero experience building guns I don't want it to blow up in my hands when I fuck it up.
>>
>>32638504
Oh shit, that's Jaime Lannister. Filename makes a lot more sense now.
>>
>>32638530

m8, building an AR-15 is butt-fucking easy. It's literally legos that snap together. The only hard part are putting in the roll pins. Just get some quality punches and you're set my man.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8sY5CQmlHI
>>
>>32638530
buy Daniel Defence or go looks up a nutnfancy build.

nutnfancy is annoying but the AR's he builds do work.
>>
Colt LE6920 or Sig M400 will run you around 1000. Both of these are fine rifles if you don't want to build anything and just want a complete rifle, but you could build something a lot better for your money too. You don't need to order every part seperately either. You can get a complete lower and complete upper, a parts kit, or a stripped lower and go from there. There are plenty of in betweens.

My advice, build a 600-700 dollar Palmetto State Armory rifle and spend the rest on accessories and ammo. It's what I did
>>
>>32638530
>what is youtube

If you manage to fuck up pinning a completed upper to a lower you should have your hands lobbed off.

>>

Nothing besides the lightweight barrel and the fact they can be had for less.
>>

>>

>>32638504
Get a Daniel Defense. You won't regret it.
>>
>>32638951
Building is like half the fun. Hell, it's not even building. It's putting the two pieces together and pushing in two pins at this point.
>>
>>32638963
You trust OP, who isn't even sure how to spend a grand on an AR, to build his first one?

Let's be honest here, this is k/. Most people here have double digit IQs.
>>
>>32638917
Are you me? I got mine for $1100, except its a M4V3, very happy with it so far.
>>
Don't spend a grand

Buy a good starter AR like a m&p sport or Ruger and save the rest for when you know what you want

If you want to piss money away on a DD or something be my guest but just telling you straight.

I just picked up a sport 2. Nice gun. ARs are just cheap right now.

All the stores stocked up in anticipation of a Hillary/Gunocolypse panic buying spree. Now they are loaded down with these guns and looking to get rid of them for a steal. I got mine as a package deal with a nice optic, 3 mags, 200 rounds, and a nice sling for $900.
>>
>>32640563
I wish it would be worth it to own one.
>>
>>32638963
Plus, the satisfaction when you finish and mate the upper and lower is just great. The whole process is easy as pie but still...
>>

Can you follow directions, tighten nuts and pound pins in holes? It's not very hard.

It really is not very difficult, but unless he has all the tools already, it will cost him a few hundred just to get set up.

Many of us find it satisfying to build from the ground up, but some people don't have the confidence to do it or it simply doesn't appeal to them when they can simply buy a built rifle.

M&P Sport:

Ruger

>>
>>32642782
Yes, it's been 4140 since like 2012 on the original Sport.
>Not an argument
>he doesn't remember Bill Ruger
The AR-556 has the same problems as the M&P Sport, although the 1:8" twist rate is an improvement.

Why?

Ive put 1,200 rounds thru mine so far and the only issue ive had was a single stove pipe... been to 3 competitions with it and placed well. Accurate out to 300 yds and great for the plinking pit.

Something i should be aware of ?
For the price its seriously a solid fun little gun.
>>
>>32642918
Some people are picky about barrel steel

I mean I guess I sort of understand the other anon in a way being that a PSA gun with 4150v can be built for less and with a midlength, but I have no probs with 1:9 for a average guy rifle who's not going to be shooting 62 grain +

Would prefer 1:8 though
>>
>>32642918
For not much more you can have 4150 steel in your barrel.

Also never buy anything from anyone who described either 4140 or 4150 as CMV or anything mentioning vanadium.
>>
>>32642930
>>32642956

Oh; noted.. ive heard that around before actually; figure when it takes a shit id pop in a green moutain or something

why 1:8 vs 9 ?
>>
>>32642985
You can stabilize heavier (really longer, but usually for the same caliber heaver = longer) bullets. 1:7" is the standard now, but some use 1:8" because they believe in overstabilization which is a myth.
>>
>>32642956
What the fuck 4150 is always CMV

Even ballistic advantage which is highly recommended as mid range barrel uses 4150 cmv

Avoid 4150 listed as CMV steel because you don't want to buy guns from idiots, do you? :^) I meant it mostly as a jab to low effort companies like Ruger and S&W.

Yes, that is the point. CMV steel is not AISI 41xx so they don't put it.

>>
>>32638504
Just buy a completed lower with a stock you like and a completed upper with a barrel you like from PSA. Then the only assembly you need to do is no worse than what you do to clean the gun, meaning pushing in two pins.
>>
>>32643202
4150 isn't cmv by default cmv refers to additives used to give it corrosion resistance etc.

You're being disingenuous by linking the composition of 4150 ignoring that 4150 cmv is different .

DD and KAC don't list it as 4150 cmv because when they list cmv its obvious.
Look it up this isn't hard to find out
>>
>>32643248
4150 CMV isn't a thing. If you add vanadium to 4150 it is no longer 4150. The only disingenuous statements here are those who refer to it as 4150 CMV.

Go learn some shit.

Vises are bolted onto tables because they need rigid bases to securely hold items in place. Unless you fasten the board onto the table, the vise isn't going to do shit besides be a liability. Besides, vises nowadays come with detachable bases for easy storage.

Back in my day you were milsurp dude because you collected milsurp and wasted money on c96s and shit. Now you have become an entry level ar fag

I feel like this sometimes honestly, trying to discuss ars with autists who think their chrome lined barrel with ff rail makes it a precision rifle becomes tiresome

Motherfucker, I am not bolting a vise to my kitchen table. My wife would kill me. I live in an apartment and have limited space.
>>
>>32650266
Why are you stupid? Get a clamp on bench vise. Put some cloth between your table and its clamp and go to town.

Do you always need to be spoonfed solutions to your problems?
