The CZ858 was prohibited for being a converted auto, CPC passed C-42, which then allowed them to move them back to NR/R based on barrel length. Wolverine then decided one last small batch of them could be brought in, and made it a "special edition" by adding some small markings on the receiver, grip, and stock. The RCMP decided that these new ones are now separate models not covered under the original OIC that moved the older CZ858 models back to legal status, and as such are prohibited for being converted full autos.

I have a question about ammunition storage legality.
I have a lockable box in which I usually store my ammo. Thing is now that I make an actually halfway decent living I'm thinking about buying bigger quantities and I wouldn't have enough room in the box to store it all. I'll probably buy a bigger box when I have a chance but I was wondering, if all my guns aren't in a safe but are all trigger-locked or have the bolt taken out can I put unlocked ammo in the same closet?

Call me a cuck if you want but I'm actually willing to follow the law as much as possible.

The answer is yes, you can store ammunition with your firearms as long as they are being stored in a locked vessel, be it a locker, container, closet, room.
From what I remember from my CFSC, as long as the container or room is lockable, and inaccessible except from that lock entrance, you can have unlocked ammunition and unlocked firearms in that container or room, these being lockers, closets, even entire rooms. Said storing locations must be locked at all times, unless you are using the contained firearms/ammunition.

One was from the prairies and left school at grade 3 but was really worldly and traveled to Hong Kong every so often just to get new glasses.

I found at the CFSC level, my instructor was a fudd on the outside, but he clearly was well intentioned and wanted to make sure he was creating responsible firearm owners. And the class was fairly diverse.

What caliber to get? Looking to get a first serious hunting/target rifle this year. How common are these calibers in Canada:

This will be used most for target shooting with some hunting as well. I don't see myself ever going for anything bigger than deer. I'd like something with a decent ballistic coefficient and less recoil is better for me because I'm not a small guy. Only reason I included 308 is because it's so popular. I know it's not on the options you listed, but check out 6.5x55 Swede as well. TradeEx has a bunch of old Swedish imported hunting rifles for a reasonable price. The Husqvarna 1600s are good, and most of them are drilled and tapped for scopes (some even have bases, saving you time hunting for them).

The 6.5x55 is a good round for what you're looking for (both hunting and target shooting). Ammo availability is decent- not .308 level, but it's around online and at most well-stocked gunstores.
