That was the last edition. Put some heart into it.

Mailing in my RPAL application at the end of the month, if everything goes well I should be licensed and applying to my local GunClub by June.

Thinking about my first pistol, probably going to be a 9mm I can get a good deal on. After that its pretty much getting the basic loadout
>Shotgun
>Rifle
>Handgun

And then the weapon collecting begins.

1. that's fucked. Why would you choose to live there?
2. You should do one of two options:
i. Get married, have more chillins, overturn the tide of liberals and NDP voters with conservatives in 3-4 generations
ii. Move somewhere else (innaprairies) where it's rural, conservative, and plenty of land to shoot on.

There was that game being developed by Kommando's, but it went under.

"Evil Death Nightmare". I played early Alpha build they released, was fun Deathmatch game in a smallish area with tons of memeguns to use.

If I were to remove the pin on my SKS I would soon find out that it's a somewhat pointless and niggerish endeavor, because I can still fit 10 rounds into a pinned magazine if I unlatch it and hold it partway open with my hand while I shoot. So I've been out of the loop for a while, I remember the whole 858 prohibition thing a few years ago and I remember the feds put an amnesty on it while they attempted to work something out...

Is the 858 now totally prohibited or just this recent version?
>>
>>32644536
The CZ858 was prohibited for being a converted auto, CPC passed C-42, which then allowed them to move them back to NR/R based on barrel length. Wolverine then decided one last small batch of them could be brought in, and made it a "special edition" by adding some small markings on the receiver, grip, and stock. The RCMP decided that these new ones are now separate models not covered under the original OIC that moved the older CZ858 models back to legal status, and as such are prohibited for being converted full autos.
>>
I have a question about ammunition storage legality.
I have a lockable box in which I usually store my ammo. Thing is now that I make an actually halfway decent living I'm thinking about buying bigger quantities and I wouldn't have enough room in the box to store it all. I'll probably buy a bigger box when I have a chance but I was wondering, if all my guns aren't in a safe but are all trigger-locked or have the bolt taken out can I put unlocked ammo in the same closet?

Call me a cuck if you want but I'm actually willing to follow the law as much as possible.
>>
>>32644665
The answer is yes, you can store ammunition with your firearms as long as they are being stored in a locked vessel, be it a locker, container, closet, room.
From what I remember from my CFSC, as long as the container or room is lockable, and inaccessible except from that lock entrance, you can have unlocked ammunition and unlocked firearms in that container or room, these being lockers, closets, even entire rooms. Said storing locations must be locked at all times, unless you are using the contained firearms/ammunition.
>>
>>32644870
The problem is that the closet isn't lockable which is why I have all my guns and ammo box individually locked.
I'll probably install something to make the closet lockable or just buy a bigger box just to be sure.
>>
>>32644926
From what I see the ammo has to be locked up. All I have atm is the CFSC book. Page 199 details storage, see pic related. Maybe call CFP, they should know how to go about it.
>>
I thought there was no regulations on storing ammo except for it needing to be "separate" from the firearm but that just meant not loaded
>>
Obligatory reminder that Mad Max is our only hope.
>>
>>32644984

It would be nice, yes. I think there are too many conservative voters who are okay with our government restricting our firearms. Too many folks don't feel it's a big deal when the RCMP prohibits a firearm just because of it's appearance.
People need to start being vocal about what they want, and to start drawing lines in the sand. The government should only as strong as it's people allow it to be.
>>
>>32649394
Controversial subject. If they say (as they have been) that the current classification system is stupid and it should be based solely on physical characteristics like being full auto or barrel length, then they get/keep all the gun owner votes, without the idiot anti-gunners realizing it would de-prohibit a shitload of guns.

I want them to know that I hate them all, that I think they're shit and they should feel terrible about themselves.
>>
>>32651240
I mean it's going to vary. Maybe it's because I speak too assertive and confidently and they take it as a challenge of their implied position of authority. Or maybe old farts are just worse here because I live in hunting country.

But from observing how I'm served (And how others around my age are served) if somebody seems interested in "hunting" style firearms, holy shit do they get the stink-eye. There's like, trillions of acres of prime hunting territory around here. 1 more hunter is just a drop of piss in the entire ocean. And I'm sure with each new person that comes and buys a fucking rifle, 3 old fudds kick the bucket.

When it's young street trash interested in handguns they seem to have a warmer experience. They aren't threatening anybodies turf. That and they probably are a lot less confident and thus easier to boss around.
>>
>>32650761
I started buying guns when I was 18 (22 now) and other than some mild condescension -- which I don't mind too much, I'm well aware that I'm still a kid to most people -- I haven't come across any really nasty treatment or total exclusion. But I've never tried to join a gun club or gone to a range. It's totally possible that I'd have the same experience as you if I did.
>>
>>32651330
It's also possible my radar for passive aggression is too finely tuned, and I just unknowingly return the favor once it's been detected.
>>
>>32651159
Shit, man. This one JUST happened to me.
The wife and I are out at a dinner party with her work friends. Mostly mid to late 20s, type A professionals. I know them but this is probably the least formal setting I've seen them in.
We're all slammin back beers, a couple of the ladies popped out back for a smoke, and the topic of Bucket lists comes up;
One of these guys, lets call him D says "I'd love to shoot a gun some day. Probably crazy illegal to do though." And the host, B, is a good guy, says he "shot a glock 9 in vegas one time".
So I pipe up with "Well what the hell, guys! Y'all should come out to my place up north! We can shoot some of my guns out on Crown land!"...

Fucking crickets. They suddenly looked so damn uncomfotable. Like they just found out they've been hanging out with a mass murdering lunatic.
So disappointed.
>>
>>32651478
It's probably because when /noguns/ are confronted with the thought of somebody actually owning and possessing firearms they think back to all the times when they were like "God, if I had a gun I'd shoot my boss in the face right now."

and I mean yeah, it's a train of thought you have to train yourself out of before taking on the responsibility of firearm ownership. It's really not hard to change your impulsive thoughts though when you're confronted with a very real need to do so.
>>
>>32651478

You revealed your power level too fast.

Should of gradually introduced the topic with statements such as:

>Sounds like a cool sport
>Apparently It's legal in Canada
> I know a place where it's legal here
>My friend has a license

etc.

You have to gauge their interests and political leanings/ response before revealing your power level.
>>
>>32651437
Kek, I'm guilty of this as well sometimes. But now that I think of it, my CFSC instructor was a hard-ass fudd who made it clear (without saying outright) that he thought I was a little twinky faggot who didn't have a place among gun owners. Meanwhile being a perfect gentleman to the pretty young woman who was in our class.

I mean I was kind of a little twinky faggot, but gun ownership shouldn't be discouraged, especially not in Canada.
>>
>>32651650

The firearms sport is indeed a sport dominated by straight white males are well in the 35+ category.

I on the other hand had a really pleasant experience dealing with my Fudd CFSC instructors.

One was from the prairies and left school at grade 3 but was really worldly and traveled to Hong Kong every so often just to get new glasses.

Our class was like 1/8 minority including myself and the instructors were pleasant with no comments made to anyone's personal appearance.
>>
>>32652014
Well for all intents and purposes I look completely white on the outside. (I'm part Metis though) So it's definitely not racial prejudice I'm finding from the fudds.

I found at the CFSC level, my instructor was a fudd on the outside, but he clearly was well intentioned and wanted to make sure he was creating responsible firearm owners. And the class was fairly diverse.

Actually going to gun stores and what not though that diversity seems to have disappeared and it's 40+ year old white guys running the entire scene. In 10 years I'll be middle aged and mostly white. Be nice if they didn't shit the bed before I got there.

>Go to the CFSC with my buddy yesterday
>Buddy is an ADHD fiend and continuously muzzle sweeps when PROVEing, trying to do it fast and operator like
>He and I are both the only people to get 100 on the written, I get a 94 on the practical
>Remind him about muzzle sweeping and to go slow before he does the practical
>Hear the instructor loudly telling him in the other room to slow down
>Instructor practically yells at him to watch his muzzle
>Friend comes out, admits he put the muzzle outside the safe area 5 times and the instructor passed him with an 81 out of pity

I love the guy but I'm seriously worried about being with him when we eventually start shooting. Anyone have ideas on how to drill muzzle control into this bastard?
He has an airsoft gun to practice with for the time being, I'm just out of ideas. I've tried slapping him on the head every time he muzzle sweeps while PROVEing. He's gotten told by the instructor again and again. How do you teach a man that can't be taught?

I went there Saturday. You'll always pay more at a gun show than from an online retailer or CGN EE. People want to make a quick buck off someone who doesn't know much about the current market prices of guns.

I go in case there is something neat and to play gunshow bingo. It's a weird mix of families, guys in leather trench coats, old guys collecting coins, and guys who looked like they just spent the winter in the mountains.

I did see a 12g 1897 Winchester for $475 which isn't bad.

What caliber to get? Looking to get a first serious hunting/target rifle this year. How common are these calibers in Canada:
>260 Rem
>6.5 Creedmoor
>7mm-08
>308

This will be used most for target shooting with some hunting as well. I don't see myself ever going for anything bigger than deer. I'd like something with a decent ballistic coefficient and less recoil is better for me because I'm not a small guy. Only reason I included 308 is because it's so popular. I envision myself getting into reloading eventually, but probably not anytime soon.
>>
>>32656474
I'm not a big guy*
>>
>>32656474
6.5 would probably be the best for you, if you don't mind the additional cost. Mind you .308 recoil isn't that bad. I'm a 145 lb skellington and I can comfortable shoot .308 for quite a while.

Just a public service announcement for you VZ fags:

Was browsing SFRC and noticed that those NEA upper handguards are back in stock. From what I understand, these have been out of production for like 4-5 years and are the lowest cowitness mount available. Not sure if they're back in production or just one run, but I remember people whining about these forever in /k/anada threads, so figured I'd let you faggots know.
>>
>>32656474
I know it's not on the options you listed, but check out 6.5x55 Swede as well. TradeEx has a bunch of old Swedish imported hunting rifles for a reasonable price. The Husqvarna 1600s are good, and most of them are drilled and tapped for scopes (some even have bases, saving you time hunting for them).

The 6.5x55 is a good round for what you're looking for (both hunting and target shooting). Ammo availability is decent- not .308 level, but it's around online and at most well-stocked gunstores.
>>
>>32651593
Yeah do this if you're a spineless faggot.

Other than at work I am unapologetic about my gun ownership.
>>
>>32649394
Technically, they are. It's in their policy to move to some form of system based solely on barrel / overall length and remove the prohibited / restricted by names to stop RCMP fuckery as I remember. Also Mad Max wants the FAC back.

Honestly, an election is still a while out and the party doesn't have a leader (even though Bernier is actually picking up steam pretty well). It's probably better to not let the CBC realise that their platform includes legalizing scary salt rifles like the AK, FAL, G11, etc when they reasonably won't be able to defend themselves without a leader.

Kind of a shitty range, and awkward hours. We met up at a nearby diner first and introduced ourselves before we went into the woods. hey guys, I'm thinking of doing that polymer80 glock 17 lower just because milling it myself sounds like fun. Any idea what I should expect to pay for the parts kits to complete it?

Glockstore had a full factory upper kit for $450 USD which seems kind of nuts when I've seen entire glocks going for like $50 more. Am I just looking in the wrong places or is that just the insane premium people are willing to pay to have no serial stamp for a gun they're just going to have to give a serial number anyway if they want to actually shoot it anywhere?
>>
Hey, just wondering something. I have several spare Tokarev mags that I keep loaded in my safe. Currently I only have an SKS and a single shot .22 rifle. Now I was wondering about storing detached mags loaded, in general will that weaken the springs having them under tension? I see lots of folks down south storing fully loaded mags and Im concerned I may damage them.
>>
>>32672896
no that is literally what springs are for. Only way you can fuck up your springs is to extend them far beyond their intended range, compress them far beyond their intended range, or rapidly heat and cool them.

Any amount of compression or extension while in the confines of the mag are going to be well within the intended range of the spring.

Has there been any major changes in the last year regarding shooting in the bush in Vancouver? A year ago I went shooting 15km east of Cultus Lake and it was great. Has anyone been recently?
>>
>>32665161

I actually joined up in September as an associate member. Did the CLSC and been there a couple times. If you plan on shooting more than once a month it's not worth it to get associate, just get the full membership. Other than that, staff seems pretty nice but I haven't had a huge amount of interaction with them. The range itself is in good shape and it's usually not too busy when interactiontsnve been there

It was my understanding that if you have an 80% receiver you need to have it registered as an "unfinished" firearm component. And once you give it a serial number and complete it, it becomes a "firearm" for all purposes
>>
>>32677686
Is that what the old guy behind the counter told you? Its a block of aluminum or plastic, a jig and some drill bits. You don't have to register it until you plan on completing it.

The Greater Toronto Area, the official title for the full town, is pretty massive. Depending on where you actually live in the GTA, it can easily be well over an hour drive to a nearby range, often longer.

Takes me an hour and 20 min to get to Silverdale. Around 50 min to get to Target Sports. Nothing else closer but Guelph.

the black rifle tax has been around for a long time, but VZ was hovering at the 1k mark for good 3-4 years, then less than in half a year it went to ~$1400 (some places have it at $1494.99). le cool tax doesn't explain the sudden jump in price

>>
>>32682705
would have to check the timeline, seems like our dollar was 70-75 cents US for quite a while now, well within the mentioned years of stable prices before the hike

it might very well be the dealer stock catching up with shitty dollar. shit that was bought closer to parity ran out and the new shit is pricier because the new orders are done at garbage rate.

this is always the go to excuse. nobody ever thinks "so, they didn't restock for literally 2-3 years after the dollar dropped? how much stock to they have?"
