Something like this is good for all purpose innawoods. Big fixed blade, and reliable as fuck. I was given my father's(of similar make as these) that he got in '81 and the still hold up just fine.

You'll also want something small and versatile for small stuff and quick access, or in a situation that something of that size is too much for. Always carry two knives when innawoods. It's pretty terrific.

I have this kbar tanto. Really a lot more practical than the standard knife since you can also chop wood with it when you're innawoods. Pretty solid pice of milsurp.
