It performs well if you're just looking for a powerful round, but so few platforms actually use the caliber and even fewer are actually affordable. It's a lot like the .357 Sig in that respect.

Black bears and Mtn-Lns are pussies and can easily be fended off with a .40 or .45 and probably 9mm, too. Moose are the only real threat. If I were you, OP, I'd just get a Magnum revolver. Your options are much greater and finding rounds is much easier than 10mm.

I'm too lazy to Google it but there is a video of a guy dropping a moose with a .40 with like 3 or 4 rounds. With 10mm you have a slightly better chance to hit something important with some hard cast 220gr buffalo bore or underwood than a more standard pistol round. All of this is pointless if you can't shoot it. So try out some 3-4" revolvers in 357 and 44 I would argue for a gp100 so you can shoot some tank loads through it. I cant really recommend a 44 because I'm of the opinion that a 357 with the right loads will do its job not that I have anything against them I just like 357 more. Mostly won't recommend because I don't know enough about them. Also try the 10mm glocks and tanfoglio witness if possible.
At minimum go finger fuck all of the above.
