Well firstly, bravo for aiming high and all that but chances are you won't pass UKSF selection. That's just a fact. And besides, you'd have to join the regular army or Royal Marines for a few years before attempting selection.

So you're right to have misgivings. If you have US citizenship just join the US military. They have money, they have equipment, and you'll be able to do more stuff.

The British army's in bad shape right now - people are signing off in droves. 82,000 is a small enough size, but we're actually under strength so I wouldn't be surprised if the true number is 70,000. Unless you're in Intelligence or SF, you're not going to see operations. The RAF's tiny and the Navy... well god knows, but if I had the option to join the US Navy instead I would do so in a heartbeat.

I'm enjoying my time in the military but the next few years are likely to be less interesting than the last few. The US and UK fight the same wars anyway, might as well join the military of the country that gives you more opportunities.

SAS is probably the main end goal for a lot of career infantry blokes over here, and even then most will not make it through selection.
If you really want to be a sneaky-beaky oper8r without putting in many many years beforehand, stay in the US, go rangers and then try for Delta, or join the navy and go seals.

Go marines, or if you are really a stud, go navy and get a seal contract, or army and get a ranger or sf contract. Google their requirements for joining and pick the one you can do. If you cant do any of them, go marines. It will have easier standards and you get those dress blues that will make even a weebo look 10/10 to females.
