Anyone know of a good k-frame sbubnode? (s&w preferred) I prefer the larger frame but all I find have 4" barrels and up. Also, general questions that don't deserve their own thread

There are tons of Model 10s and 64s with 2 inch barrels floating around thanks to police trade-ins. Just 2 months ago, there was a site selling them for $295 shipped.

What happens if you slam shut a top-break revolver ?
Pic unrelated.

They're pretty damn inaccurate but work perfectly fine and don't reduce barrel life or anything. May get better accuracy since it's a 20g not a 12g but I wouldn't count on it being great.

There's no need to slam it shut though other than being a retard.

And for whatever stupid silly reason you can imagine where you NEED to slam it shut or face death... it can definitely handle the shutting it won't break the first second or third time you slam it shut

Would most likely happen when the owner does it all the time at the range for over a year.

Drunk as fuck o bare with me.

anyone else just using guns as a way to compensate for your own perceived failures at manhood and manliness? By manhood I don't mean the liberal stereotype of "hurrrr u hab small penor so u need big gun to make up for it!" but I mean the act of manliness and the attitude of standing up for yourself and saddling up to take on challenges that scare the living fuck out of you but you do it anyway and pretend like you are not the least bit scared. Especially when compared to previous generations.

I for me I love guns because they are fucking cool but I'll admit a part of it is "look at this HUGE SPLOSION right in front of my face I didn't even flinch, at least I'm not a nu-male!"

Okay okay so mil dots...those can't be standard right? Okay I'm going to explain this shitty but bear with me.
Say scope A and B have two different magnification but both have a 4 mil dot (up donw left right) layout.
I have my A scope lined up and know my mil dot means roughly 50 meters difference from my crosshair.
That would be different with scope B right?
I've never hear any type of standard variation in mil dot to center range difference but I'm a Fud shit Lord who hunts with irons and I'm looking to getting into scopes hunting because my vision isn't what it used to be.

Guns are beautiful pieces of art that I like analyzing. I like taking them apart and putting them back together and figuring out how they work and thinking about how engineers worked so hard to create something so beautifully functional.

I also won't pretend I'm physically weak. I'm not very strong, and tools are what made human beings the most powerful species on the planet. A true man is one who does his best to better himself and isn't afraid to use tools to overcome his weaknesses. That said, I'm working hard to make myself stronger, but regardless, if someone wants to hurt me or someone I love, I'm shooting them in the face, because I'm not big or strong enough yet to do much with a punch to the face.

My PPK sometimes drops back to double action after firing, when it should be in single action. This has happened on both mags (one with pinky catch, one without), and with two different types of ammo.

I bought it used, but it's in really good condition. Everything appears to be in good working order.

Seems to happen randomly, not on a specific round, and not necessarily after putting a lot of rounds through it. Has happened in about 1 out of every 20 rounds I've put through it so far.

Any ideas what to check for that might be causing this, and how to go about fixing it? Only thing I can think of is that the ammo isn't cycling the gun completely and the hammer doesn't stay back for SA mode.

It is an Interarms one, not S&W.

>>32607391
If its the model 68 (I have one), its a pretty solid shooter. Accurate and decently tough. It they were made before Taurus and Rossi went to shit. Either way, dont shoot P+ out of it, but its a cozy little beater gun.
>>
>>32610027
>>32610034
What's in the book?

On the gun, all I can tell you is to be careful about the restore work you have done on it, or that someone tries to talk you into. Judging by the picture, I wouldn't touch the stock at all unless it's split somewhere I can't see.

For the rust, you certainly want to stop it, and remove any you can. Some people may suggest stripping and rebluing the metal. You DO NOT want to do that if it can be avoided. That would be like sanding the patina off the wood and retaining/oiling it. My father made this mistake with the K98 my grandfather brought back.

Consider taking it to someone who specializes in antiques, and not just a gunsmith, for options and quotes.

Thanks, I'll check the model numbers when I get home today. I about assumed it was just a workhorse gun and little else considering it was bought to be carried by newspaper truck drivers downtown.

My brother loves Carhartt. He's a mechanic, so he needs durability and agility. It definitely doesn't scream tacticool or 'i have a gun'.

I'm personally looking for some gloves that fit this role. I really just need them for warmth, so I've been looking at driving gloves. I know Kel-Tec's claim to fame is their KSG Shotgun( image related ) but can anybody tell me how their pistols/flashlights are? Their flashlights seem very very attractive given they have a single output setting over 400 lumens( no need to worry about accidentally seizuring somebody with a strobe, etc. ) and one of them comes in a shape made to be easier to use with your pistol. I'm thinking of picking up one of their flashlights as a replacement to my cheap chinklight and am thinking of picking up one of their pistols as my first CC.

I like Carhartt too. Dickies( what I wear ) also makes good work-based clothing that wouldn't throw up any red flags at a lower cost than Carhartt. I also recently noticed Dickies has a "tactical" section on their website and I'd be willing to bet most normies would just assume most of that is normal workwear given Dickies reputation is based on cheap yet quality clothes for the average laborer.

I bought a used rifle with a scope. The rifle did not originally come with the scope or a mount. By my calculations, the scope and (I think the mount) are 1.5 degrees out of horizontal alignment with the barrel. I tried shimming it; I can't do it be it the mount or my incompetence. I'd rather not see a gunsmith as that would probably double the cost of the rifle. Any ideas? Thank you.

for some reason ive always been the dork of my group of friends, practically coddled by them. I dont do drugs often, I seldom drunk as well and dont go to parties as much as I want to. In my defense there isnt much of a social scene here, but even im come to accept im a nerd. One of them patted me on the back for getting drunk and finishing a bottle of fireball and said he was "proud of me". My parents and even brother at times can be the same, coddling way that really humiliates me. Shootings guns makes me feel proud. I know how to work them, clean and operate them. I wish I was more of a mountain man/innawoods guy or even knew another skill but I dont. S&W just recently announced they are releasing the Model 66 with a 2.75" barrel again. This is pretty much the only new production option right now, they are sweet though. 6 rounds of .357 magnum in a frame size that isn't ridiculous. L-frames and N-frames are sweet guns but they're kind of a bitch to conceal, the snub K-frame is like the Glock 19 of revolvers, they just hit that sweet spot of size, capacity, power.

They can be inter-changed both ways.

Guys, are there any common issues with fixed cylinder revolvers ?
I mean, if you can't slam shut the cylinder, it would make sense to me that you can't fuck up the timing or anything.
I was wondering if there were some modern ones, if possible, in .357/.38, any more info on this?

When getting an NFA firearm, do you have to get all the forms and stamps done before you purchase the gun even if it still needs to be transferred to an FFL holder?

I managed to finally find the one gun I really want on gunbroker that's not for an absurd price and it happens to be the regular select fire model, even harder to find here in the US. But, I only found it when there are just a couple days left on it. Is there no way to buy it so I don't completely miss this rare chance?

I'm looking at getting a full size 9mm CZ of some sort, currently between the P-09 and the SP-01, what do you recommend?
>>
>>32621020
No. They're almost identical in size, but .308 is usually loaded at a higher pressure. This will not affect the chances of explosion in any way shape or form. x51 is NATO spec. 308 is Durr spec.
>>
>>32621059
It's a soft metal. When grinding two bits of metal together, say, a brush and a barrel. You wouldn't want to scratch your gun and remove steel every time you cleaned. So, the brush will yield before your gun will.

7.62 or 5.56 for home defense?

Range is probably ~30 feet from doorway and where I would be taking cover. 50-70 feet max.

I don't care about over pen, I just want to make sure the guy in my doorway goes down as fast as possible. I know shot placement and accuracy matters more, but assuming I'm consistent and have enough funds to practice with either round.

Which kills and/or maims faster?

Direct family transfers are usually exempt, anon. That's how 14 year olds can own deer rifles despite not being able to buy one.

That said, if a 20 year old wants to build an AR that bad he can just buy a complete rifle, sell the upper (and other parts not desired) and go on from there without running afoul with the law.

You still have moving parts that can fail, but they are pretty stout. There are plenty of options, though most have some western stylings. Look at Ruger Blackhawks for a good entry point, they are the less-cowboy looking of Ruger's offerings. Adjustable sights, variety of finishes/grips. This is what i'm considering as my next single action.

http://www.ruger.com/products/newModelBlackhawkConvertible/specSheets/0318.html

Convertible to plink with 9mm if you find it cheaper than 38spl, which is dope, and it's only around a hundred more than the standard model.

Just got a refurbished-but-real, sniper nugget.

From your experiences, are there any tips or suggestions? Maybe more specifically the care and proper operation of the optic?

Also regarding shims, I'm planning on making some of my own for both the scope mount and for the bedding on the reciever. Should I use sheet-steel or sheet-aluminium? Any thoughts or suggestions?

On a side note, I'm pretty happy that I've finally gotten a real sniper nugget, I've always wanted one since I've gotten into history and subsequently firearms as a kid, but they've always have been too expensive for my poorfag wallet.

Absolutely not.
They're comparable within 100 yards, but 5.56 is never going to be ballistically superior to a 7.62 of equal quality.
More practical in short range, sure.

Hey, /k/ looking to put a model together,
were the VDV known or ever used BMPs in Afghanistan? I know that they have the BMD series of IFVs but I'm mainly trying to figure out which pack of infantry I'll use with the BMP I want to build.
Also other than the lack of amphibious capability, did the BMP-1D have any noticeable distinctions than the other BMP-1 series of vehicles (other than amphibious capability)

I've got one, it's a solid gun. Accurate, smooth, all that jazz. Switching cylinders takes 2 secons and requires no tools which is pretty cool. A tad on the heavy side, and it is single action so heads up if thats not your thing. That said the thing is just super fun to shoot.
