What are your guys opinion on ghost guns

also let me know what you think about "Constitutional carry". My home state is going to try to pass it this week.
>>
>>32595144

Obviously, we love them.

What's the pic in your OP? Links to that?

I want to build an AR from an 80% at some point. Read a lot about them.

I know nothing about building a pistol. Any good kits and youtube tutorials?

Also by the by, I <3 Cody Wilson and Defense Distr.

Thanks anon!
>>
>>32595144
a ghost gun is a great way to spend a fuckload more on an inferior product. you do get the mystic allure of no cereal numbers or background check. if thats the goal great so be it. pay a premium for an unserialized item.

There's no such thing as a ghost gun. It's legal to make your own gun as long as you aren't "manufacturing" them for sale.

As for Constitutional carry, that has been the law for over 200 years. The second amendment literally says you have an uninfringed right to have and carry around guns. Any other law is subservient to that one and invalid. It's just too bad our government doesn't bother abiding by it's laws.

Calling them ghost guns its kinda stupid but sure. I would be interested to make a dedicated 22lr glock and this would be an idea.

I like constitutional carry. i have lived in states with it for about 8 years now. I carry everyday. But I always think it's a good idea to take a class on national and local laws. I have a CCW so i can carry in my surrounding states.
>>
>>32595635

You can sell guns you've manufactured, just uh... not "right away"

You can't make them with the intent to sell them.

Unless you've got that FFL.

But yeah you can sell them at some point in the future... the law is not clear about that, it's a grey area.
>>

>$50 for a blemished raw 80% lower
>$70 for a raw 80% lower
>$130 for a cerakoted 80% lower
>All from fucking billets

What the shit. You can find forged anodized blem lowers online for ~$60 if you look around enough.
>>
As long as we are on this topic, what's the best way to engrave an 80% lower?

Say I wanted to draw a giant penis or an anime girl. Is it worth giving it to a shop or is there some $40-$200 tool I can order that will do the job?
>>
>>32595144
guns for criminals and paranoid autists who like to pay more in the end
>>
>>32595635
So I can have a unserialized gun, so long as I'm not trying to sell it?
>>
>>32596592
so long as you made it, sure. but if you ever sbr it or otherwise turn it into an nfa item they make you invent a serial number for it and put it on the gun
>>
>>32596592

Yeah basically.

And you can sell it. Just not right away. And you can't build it with the intent to sell it.

Planning on doing an 80% no serial build of SOMETHING some time in my life. Just to do it. Already build a muzzleloader rifle.

Ausfag here, I'm going to dump some DIY's that have been on the news over here, tell me how "inferior" these seem.

It's actually struck me as kinda weird that /k/ has such a small DIY commuity, I'd think you fag would all be into gunsmithing, but apparently not.

Yeah but for those states with shitty laws, getting the 80% is less of hassle.

Tbh without seeing the guts I don't know if I'm impressed or not. Making a Sten-alike is pretty piss easy (especially if you have parts like bolts or stocks or barrels) and the coating and the optic and the grip and the tacked-on rail (lel) are probably making it look much more professional than it otherwise would.

Maybe. But you can't see any of the craftsmanship because the whole thing has been slathered in some cheap coating and there's not enough detail in the image anyway so the jury is still out as far as I'm concerned; it could be favela-tier under the window dressing and you'd never know just from looking at an image of it.

I haven't actually got any images showing off the internals because the cops and gubmint over here are still trying to stick their head in the sand and pretend this kind of thing doesn't happen, but I can tell you for a fact that the Bikie gangs that build these generally do a damn good job of it. Not quite factory grade, but very close. A lot of them aren't even hand milled, they actually have all the machinery to do it properly (something the government is also trying to pretend isn't happening).

Quality varies a lot obviously, but we have a blossoming extra-legal DIY community. Honestly it's harder to get ammo than guns now.
>>
>>32597768
That's pretty obviously solid aluminum, m8. No point in trying to hide favela tier manufacturing and no paint can hide it unless they ground and painted long and hard enough they may as well have started with billet aluminum
>>
>>32595533
>>32595407
Essentially these are 200+ the price of a new pistol.
>>
>>32596616
I don't know why people always find homebuilt submachine guns so "evil", I mean they're literally the simplest way you can build a firearm, and as a result, they're way too bulky for practical use and fire an anemic pistol cartridge.
>>
>>32596701
Well there's always the old "friend sells you his CNC mill for $1, and then you sell it back to him for $1 upon completing your lower"
>>
I've made a lot of these. Of done the sign p228, the p80 glock, a 1911, and probably 10 or so ARs. They are an easy and fun hobby. 1911 required the most time, but none are difficult

The problem with Constitutional (state) carry is that often no permit is issued for state reciprocity purposes. It actually limits your ability to carry outside of your state.

In principle, it is great. For practicality, it sucks for the above reason.
>>
probably popular in britbongistan, Australia and wherever else you have to worry about a kangaroo chimping out on you walking to your car

I don't know anyone who has a 80 lower
>>
>>32596628
Not true

Federal law allows you to leave it as is with no serial number.

If you sell it you need to give it a number but that's it.

That's accurate, I was being sarcastic because oppressed rage towards liberals + bourbon = poorly thought out posts on /k/.

More on topic, I see a lot of conservative people talking about how bad federal gun laws are (any federal law that restricts states rights actually) but I can't understand this mindset. If you give power to the states, the reigning policitally party will make all the rules, if we can setup a federal law that will ensure freedom regardless of states' attempts to not follow it (gay marraige, concealed carry reciprocity, recreational marijuana, etc) why wouldn't it be better for the country to be unified? It just seems counter productive to the idea of a free America, that conservatives are all about states rights.
I love building guns and know that my state (NY) would middle-of-the-night-paperclip-vote a "ghostgun" ban so fast it would make my head spin if it weren't for the GCA of '68. But I see a lot of fudds talking about how we need to get rid of the GCA and the NFA. I think we need to replace them with updated laws that not only cement those same freedoms, but limit them less (that's more true about the GCA than the NFA, cause the NFA is majority an anti-freedom law).

What's errybody else working on? I'd be building pic related if a pistol grip didn't make it 100x more deadly so I'm not allowed to have that scarry "assault weapon." Those kits are so damn cheap. Working on a less-cheap carbine version of the ppsh41 atm cause it passes the scary test in NY. Not going to lie, it's also my favorite fucking rifle because of WaW zombies.
>>
>>32610684
>cement those same freedoms, but limit them less
Or doesn't limit them at all, I just mean the freedom should be in writing. I don't need reciprocity to carry, but it'd be nice to not go to prison for a long time for peaceful civil disobedience.

>>32595144
The idea of a ghost gun is neat yeah. But unless you got some serious smithing skills you're better off doing a lower and ordering parts. And unlike gaming PCs, buying a gun part for part doesn't tend to be cheaper than buying a fully built one.

Upsides:
If you wanna build a glock or AR15 from scratch using an 80% its an easy deal.
Downsides:
If you wanna build an AK or M1911 from scratch using an 80% you're gonna have to scour for parts.
