Look, kid, the .22 Magnum, with a 30gr. HP projectile is doing 2,300 ft/s out the barrel and delivering 322 ft·lbs of muzzle energy. The 5.7x28mm FN round, with a 28 gr. JHP projectile is doing 2,350 ft/s out the barrel and delivering 344 ft·lbs of muzzle energy. For an additional 50 ft/s and 22 ft·lbs, the argument is purely academic and those numbers make no real difference in the real world.

Then, when you look at price, I can snag 500 rounds of .22 Magnum for like $110, or I can get 500 rounds of 5.7x28 for $170. I'm not going to pay an additional $60 for an academic bullshit cartridge.

Then you've got the Five-SeveN that goes (used) for like $1000 for a plastic, uncomfortable piece of shit with controls in stupid places. Or the Kel-Tec PMR-30 that has 10 more rounds in the mag, is still a plastic, uncomfortable piece of shit, but goes (new) for $450.

Centerfire ammo, high velocity, penetrates body armor up to 3a if using the right ammo in either ps90 or fiveseven. LE only ammo will cost a lot more. Weighs less than 9mm thus cab carry more with comparable ballistics, NATO testing wanted this new round to be at least equal to 9mm. Reloadable if you want to. No, 22 mag will not perform like this, the only upside to 22 mag is the pricing in comparison to 5.7.

But there's still something I want to know about the five seven that's not talked about, and I'm too lazy to keep reading threads hoping someone will bring it up. If you are military, LEO, or a lunatic, and you shoot the five seven with the armor piercing ammo it was designed for, against an armored target, does it work? Does it work where other pistol cartridges fail? Would you choose it over 9mm?
