Anecdotal info for you guys
:
:
Turns out there may be a knife that goes undetected by a security wand.
I recently went to a concert at a private venue wearing a pair pants that had a cold steel recon 1 4" spear point folder clipped onto the side. I didn't know that I left the knife clipped on the pants from the other night when I went to the store. I got in line and realized that the knife was clipped in the waistband and got that sinking feeling in my stomach somewhere near the front of the line when I saw the guy at the entrance wanding people.
When he wanded me, the wand DID NOT GO OFF when he sweeped over my right side. The wand was turned on I saw the green light on it

I was wearing pants, undershirt, long sleeve shirt and a coat.
>>
>>32590129
The security guy was probably too stupid to turn it on.
>>
>>32590129
I do a lot of wanding as basic security. If it is a low key event and I pick up your belt buckle I will ignore it. Otherwise I will ask to see your belt buckle and even twist it over in some cases. Also nice side walks has a lot of rebar in the so I have to ignore anything in your shoes aswell.

If you want to get shit passed me hid it in your shoes.
>>
>>32590129
I'm in a wheelchair. I never get wanded.

all ceramic knives go through without a hitch.
>>
>>32590586
also some stainless steel is actually pretty hard to detect kinda like copper.
>>
>>32590129
Knife is aluminum fake. OP got took.
>>
>>32590279
or be fat.
My job has us run through the frame metal detectors and gets us wanded on our way out everyday.
Fat fucks are the ones who steal everything by hiding shit in their rolls.
>>
>>32590631
aluminum is conductor a metal detector would pick it up. you need to stop eddy currents from forming to pass a metal detector. that means either highly laminates steel or non-metalic blade.

for instance, let's say you make blade out of bone or flint, it would not be picked up and would sufficiently strong to shank someone to death with easily.

I went on a 6 week trip across Europe, going through like 4 international airports, with ~20 loose rounds of .22 in my carry on unknowingly. Security is not as secure as you think.
>>
>>32590657
what about titanium?
>>
>>32590129
i used to work in the then busiest court in western europe in the city that was the western european capital for for murders: mainly knive murders. The metal detectors at the door were usually switched off (the sargeants were too lazy to check every beep and record them). no armour, no weapons for us guards and the scum came in by the tribeload. You'd have 2-4 guards per floor but it could be 1 and 200 scumbags friends/family at times. Cops usually in a different part of the building to public.
>>32590586
some ceramic kitchen knives have metal in them. especially japanese one i.i.r.c though that may be bollocks
>>
>>32590129
Congratulations, you've discovered the concept of "security theater."
>>
>>32590279
I went to two trump rallies where they didn't bother checking people's belts when the wand picked it up.

Shoes seem like a great place to do whatever you're trying to do. Would certainly be an interesting story to see someone sneak a little single-stack gun in somewhere via shoes.

Have you ever scanned someone's hair?

hard to detect too.

>>32590785
>some ceramic kitchen knives have metal in them.
yeah i bet they do for this reason. it's very easy to test tho. put it in the microwave if it starts to stutter and throw sparks you got a winner.
>>
>>32590856
shit, an LCP or even LC9 sized handgun could be easily hidden under a belt buckle
hell, you could carry a full sized handgun there and get though
>>
>>32590874
Do you live in Texas? How many full size handguns fit in a ten gallon hat?
>>
Out of curiosity. How do airports and secure locations test their efficiency?

Like can you offer to try and defeat a buildings security by sneaking in a inert but real weapon and see how far you get? How you got around their existing practices?
>>
>>32590657
Oh so its all metals. I thought it was just like magnetic shit. And bone is sufficiently strong to shank someone to death with easily.

All good things to know.
>>
>>32590912
I was talking about under a belt buckle (or just in the general area of a belt)

and you could probably fit two handguns under a ten gallon hat with a very specialized helmet/holster
>>
Similar thing happened to me
>Go to casino
>In line to watch stupid show with family
>Notice wand dudes up front
> Realise I always have knife
>Unclip from pocket and clip to pants right by belt buckle
>Get wanded it beeps
>Guy passes me through assuming it was my belt
>>
>>32590952
>How do airports and secure locations test their efficiency?
they don't like to do the tests because it shows that the TSA is security theater. completely pointless and filled with shit eating retards

>Oh so its all metals.
anything that conducts electricity, altho like i said highly laminated steel will not be easily detected.
the eddy currents would be small and work against each others magnetic field.
>>
>>32590129
I live in China, I get felt up by security guards constantly, going through airports and sometimes train stations.

My zips get inspected and patted here, belts, everything that goes beep and they beep on really small things.

Titanium piercings don't seem to beep though.

I'd never get something through under a belt buckle though, they hand inspect those.

>>32590129
>When he wanded me, the wand DID NOT GO OFF when he sweeped over my right side. The wand was turned on I saw the green light on it
Probably dialed the wrong way. They usually have a calibration dial for how sensitive they should be. Guards here usually check it on their watch or something before waving it over a person.
>>
>>32590298
Hipster with a barrel knife?
>>
>>32590279
>Also nice side walks has a lot of rebar in the so I have to ignore anything in your shoes aswell.
Most dress shoes, boots and high heels also have a tack in the shoe that sets of the detector everytime.

Source: I work the detector on court duty.

I believe it's martensitic stainless that's non-magnetic, but I'm not 100%

>clip knife to inside of underwear behind belt

>>
>>32590129

it's a concert not the TSA. worst case you would have lost a shitty Recon 1 or have to go back and leave it in your car.
>>
>>32592935
I think you mean austenitic, but even that's not correct. plenty of austenitic alloys are still ferromagnetic
>>
>>32594294
>I think you mean austenitic
Read it as autistic. I need to detox from 4chan.

On a number of occasions, I have carried a folding pocket knife into a court house, through a metal detector.

I just told the old fart deputy that it was probably either my steel toe boots or belt buckle, and he just lets me through.
Probably helps that I work in the building next door, but still.
>>
>>32590722
LOL I did this once through several American airports.

Found a pocket full of ammo on my way home from Vegas (gay) after carrying it through 2 airport security checkpoints.

GG tsa

>>32590129
>Implying the cheap ass security company didn't buy the wands off eBay from some shady Chinese seller
>Implying they even work on small items
>Implying they even replaced the batteries once

They wouldn't freak out and think you're a serial killer for having a pocket knife unless it's cuckifornia or something. You'd just have to put it in your car and get back in line. People forget small stuff all the time.
>>
>>32590952
>Like can you offer to try and defeat a buildings security
They already pay people to do that, both for physical and cyber security.
>>
>>32594946
>the security guys don't make you take off your belt before going through the scanner

They just don't give a fuck. The scanner would tell them you've got metal in your waist area after you empty your pockets.
>>
>>32594946
>I just told the old fart deputy that it was probably either my steel toe boots or belt buckle, and he just lets me through.
>Not wanding everyone that gets dinged
They harp on that shit constantly in training. I bet he just waves the kids through too rather than checking to make sure some scummer isn't trying to slip in a pistol on their daughter.

>>32595835
>Implying they even replaced the batteries once
Don't know about other places wands but ours signal low battery by beeping constantly when used.
