Since no one else is going to answer, look for a pre-war 91/30 that matches that hasn't been refurb if possible. If it was me, I would get an M91, the rarest one I could find to have something a little different and with more investment value(I.E. Sestroryetsk, Westinghouse, Remington, Chatellerault, 91/38 any Arsenal or even a 91/59) the M91s are nicer in my opinion honestly.

>Feeding.
Have to work the bolt VERY slowly, and some times have to hammer bolt closed.
>Chambering.
Sometimes bolt won't hold the bullet.
>Extracting.
Bolt won't eject round, forcing me to pull bolt out and hammer round out.
What is wrong?
>>
>>32591771
Have you thoroughly de-greased the bolt parts and inside the chamber area/bolt lug recesses. If you only have issues with cycling when a round is loaded, and there's no crap in the lug spaces then your headspace is probably just on the small side. It sounds like your ejector is also worn down if it won't eject the case.
>>
>>32591823
Yes. I took apart the bolt.
I checked the chamber.
Maybe its headspace issues.
I'm wondering about the serial number?

Thought so. Hmm a lot of those are in really good condition still. For the extractor I would pull the rifle from the stock and check it out internally. I've pulled the interruptor on a Mosin and it isn't a big deal but avoid it if possible... but there could be something going on in that area regarding ejection. Take a closer look
>>
>>32590857
it started life as a 1910/1909 carbine captured by the Austrian-Hungarian army given to the Germans and ended up in Poland. then in WWII captured by the Germans then captured back by the Russians and given to the Czechs and turned into a 91/38.

I tried this on last milsurp thread, but still need help. Numbers matching Hungarian m44 carbine. Soaked and scrubbed everything in clp, polished contact points, and taken all apart. No matter what I do the bolt is impossible to move when chambering or ejecting a round. Slightly harder when there's no round in as well. What do?
>>
>>32593676
>>32594198
I am wondering as well about the first part of its history before it became a 91/38. Are we sure it is a 91/38, at this point I must ask. What is a 1910/1909 carbine? That is a Mosin I am not aware of. if it is a shorter M91 before 1930 then it should be a Dragoon(or Cossack but I don't know of any Ka3 that became a 91/38).
>Austria-Hungary
so it has the AZF stamp?
>given to Germany
plausible but unlikely
>ended up in Poland
how, exactly, do you have any evidence on this point?
>captured(again) by the Germans
>captured(again) by the Russians
>given to the Czechs
>given
I'm having a really hard time following this. That is a mosin with a more specifically storied history than my 91/30, which has a storied history no one will ever know...
>1912 Izhevsk M91
>Re-barreled by Tula in 1943 as a 91/30
>refurbished twice(apparently) with 2 [/] stamps
>all matching numbers, probably force matched at most recent refurb
Just saying... that is either the most maticulously documented Mosin in history, or a whole lot of presumptions which I can understand and follow, if you would provide what gives you these impressions. Still having a problem with 1910/1909 "Carbine" though.... explain please...

Also, what happened to 1914-1955?? Now it is 1910/1909???
>>
>>32594492
I presume he means a Model 1907 carbine. Thing is, without the unique 1907 carbine sights there's no way to prove it ever was one.
>>
>>32594534
Maybe. Weren't they legit carbines too? As in M38/M44/M9159 length? What's the unique sight on those, that rings a bell as the early carbines but they are pretty rare an so I haven't researched them on the pretense I'll likely never find one I can afford
>>
>>32594534
Also, the whole capture and sale back and forth story. I'd be highly interested in how any of that can be substantiated as, far as I know, it cannot be. I'm no Mosin expert, but I like to think I've done my homework and know generally what I'm talking about with Mosins, save a few tidbits and exacts here and there(like exactly determining a 1907 carbine for example)
>>
>>32595722
>Weren't they legit carbines too?
Yes.
>As in M38/M44/M9159 length?
Almost the same barrel length, yes.
>What's the unique sight on those,
It's a short, straight ladder that was hinged at the rear rather than at the front like the M91 infantry-length and M91 Dragoon/Cossack-length rifles.

Found mine in a dumpster.
What would I Look for? Should I get a new bolt head?
>>
>>32596441
No, especially if all parts are original Hungarian. As another anon eluded to, does it cycle smoothly without a round? If so, as they also said, tight headspace.

Something else I encountered with my 91/59 is the firing pin depth. Check yours. I'm not quite sure why but when I first took my 91/59 apart I didn't set the firing pin depth exactly as it was, but dialed it back just a hair according to my Mosin tool measuring its penetration depth and for whatever reason this made the action extremely tight(with no ammo just cycling the bolt). After I put it back as it came to me, barely too much according to my tool, it cycled smoothly and perfectly again. I cant tell tell you why or that it is what's is wrong with your rifle, but it clearly caused an issue with mine somehow.

Check your interruptor, extractor and the depth on your firing pin. Reduce depth a hair or put it ***BARELY***past spec and try some more. Be careful though if you're pushing depth specs. Very careful!
>>
>>32596565
Can't measure them. Pulled interrupter. No bolt is NOT stiff when empty only loaded.
>>
>>32596565
To be clear, the issue appeared after dry fire for function check. It was fine if the bolt was opened/closed while cocked, but if I dry fired it was insanely stiff to open the bolt. The pin appeared too deep(barely) according to my tool, but dialing it back a hair created the stiffness issue. AGAIN this may not help you in any way and you need to be VERY careful playing with the firing pin depth, but it's an issue I discovered cleaning my rifle.

Or a third option. Bought a garbage rod in 2009 for $50 shot it a bit realized mosin a shit then sold it to some slavboo for $175 two years later and bought an actually decent bolt gun in a relevant caliber.

Dry fire the rifle and see id the stiff issue presents.
>yes
Lessen the depth a tiny bit, try again
>no
It's not the same issue I experienced likely

Wow spell/grammar check fail
>I bought the cheapest Mosin I could find and now ignore that any rifle, even the best, can be shit on an individual basis.***
Sorry you have no ability to look beyond a small sample size or use good purchasing skills. Just to add to old post, yaknow

Case in point. Cheapest Mosin you could get.
>relevant caliber
At that time x54r was probably the cheapest center fire cartridge you could buy and surplus was plentiful. Want to know how I know you're a lying faggot? Because you're literally a lying faggot, or just turned 18 after following /k/ move from the Mosin as a cheap into guns to not worth it anymore unless collecting and you're just butthurt you missed out. Am I in the ballpark? Probably

I dry fired it.
No bolt issue. I think it is the interrupter.
I found the rifle in a retirement home dumpster.
Probably a battlefield pickup, rifle is beat to shit stock is cracked, finish is basically gone.

Okay, next is going to be inspecting the interruptor and extractor. Figure out the ejection and feed issues. If no issue seems found there, start at the bolt next for the chambering issues you talked about. Really bolt or ejection/interruptor issues next doesn't matter but the ejection/feeding issues are More important to me so I would go there next.

Let me get one of my Mosins and get a good pic. I'll take it apart tomorrow and help you take yours apart more thoroughly if you really want but for now just pull it from the stock and look firm gunk and spring integrity, then let's move on

The part my finger is on is the extractor and the Izhevsk(bow and arrow) stamped "tab" directly below is the interruptor for feeding. As I recall though it's been a while since I had one out of stock, they are one part, dove tailed into the receiver and I said a leaf spring. Check for gunk/integrity here for ejection issues. One problem at a time. If you want to fix it learn every part and what it does.

Correction, the ejector. Not extractor. Extractor is next place we will look though.
