Benelli for sure, I've shot about4k rounds though my m4 and it's my go to hd weapon.

I like my Maverick 88. It was only $241 and thats with tax and california nonsense tacked on.

At first it didnt work properly because it was built by mexicans. The shells wouldn't eject. They got jammed in the chamber so hard I had to pry one out with a knife.

I took the barrel off, put a dowel rod in a drill, stuck a piece of 0000 steel wool and some polishing compound on there and polished the heck out of it for about 10 minutes. Its called chamber honing, apparently. Then I did it again with a soft rag and more compound for another 10.

After that it ran perfect. No problems at all, the shells slide out easy as butter. If you dont mind re-doing some mexicans work for them you can save a lot of money.

Those are all solid choices. I personally, for home defense ONLY like the Black Aces Tactical " non-nfa firearm ". It's just an over priced Mossberg 500, but it's short and it has a spring assist pump action. So for home defense, it would be outstanding.

Remington 870 with a ghost ring blade sight, extended mag tube, sticky hogue furniture. Put yourself some buckshot in this and you've got 7 shots of home defense shotgun action. Very reliable steel receiver military grade shotgun. The only other upgrade I'd get is a flash light.

Wilson combat does a far better remington than any other pump in my opinion. Even the 870 tactical that's shown there is reliable. I've fired thousands of rounds out of that one just fine.

I can't say anything about the M4, since I've never shot one. I can't recommend the Benelli M2 and M3 enough though. Those two are definitely two of my favorites. In my opinion though the only thing that the 870 has over the 500/590 is the safety placement. I prefer Mossberg, when comparing the two though. It's tough because you're comparing a premium semi to two budget pumps.

Seriously though. If any model of Benelli is in your budget, buy those. Even the Nova Pump feels ergonomically better than other pumps to me.
