Just heard about this. They somehow got a 1911 grip/trigger in a striker fired fun. What does /k think?

>>
>>32571740
10/10 would carry in old detroit in a robocop film.
>>
>>32571740

>women run business

The pistol is going to be a cheap piece of shit.
>>
It is pretty cyberpunk.
>>
>>32571740
looks like a 1911 violently raped a CZ and this was the result
>>
>>32571740
Why that indent below the (what looks to be) mag release?
>>
>>32571885
That's probably to clean up the frame at the edge of the checkering.
>>
>>32571740
Looks like S P A C E.

I'll keep an eye for this.
>>
>>32571885
Lots of 1911 grips have those. For the thumb to go while operating the mag release I guess.
>>
>>32571740
It shouldn't give me a boner
But it do
>>
>>32571740
>striker fired
Exactly what I don't want.

How about a hammer fired 9mm with a 1911 trigger and feeding from Glock 17 magazines?
>>
>>32571740
I like it
>>
>>32572382
sounds like an abortion.
>>
>>32571740
Neat.

Will be cool to finally see some more innovation in the HG market.

I love the look of it, but why is the front of it so tall? What's under the barrel that takes up the space there? I see that the bottom of the slide protrudes down but what's the reasoning? Recoil counterweight or something?
>>
>>32573146
They want to try to make it as inappropriate for carry as possible. I think they might be working on a smart trigger next.
>>
>>32571740

Looks like a Ruger 9E and a 1911 had a baby

Looks retarded to me. It solves no issues with current designs and adds a fuck huge amount of material under the barrel for no damn reason.

Pass.

Where do you think the recoil spring and guide rod goes?

Normally that part would sit higher up on the frame, but they brought it down to the trigger guard level to lower the bore axis
>>
>>32571740
Looks cool. Too bad we won't see one in commiefornia.
>>
>>32573146
Short action recoil spring looks like, being the only name I can give it.

Basically a newish trending in design philosophy, by having a shorter tilt distance on the barrel, with a large (relative) amount of contact between the slide and spring, you get a faster cyclic rate. Faster rate, snappier shooting, easier time keeping on target, more rounds printed on paper in a shorter frame of time.

Sounds cool on paper, I've seen a few newer designs use it as well, can't remember their names though, but some were featured in the shot show.

Basically it's something of a refinement of the browning tilting barrel action, it seems, with changes made thanks to new metallurgical advances.
>>
>>32571804
This. Not so much that they are females, more so that they make it a fucking point and that just screams of gg shit.
>>
>>32574783
>>32571804
The head of the company is a woman, not the whole company.
>>
>>32571740
I kinda wish the massive recoil spring channel was actually an integrated LAM

But I like it, looks like a sci-fi pistol.

Is that a render? Or is it really made out of toy plastic?
>>
>woman run small business
No thanks.
>>
It could be a husband and wife run business, actually.
>>
Eh, I'd give it a shot just to see how it feels.
>>
>>32573146
I think it's a built in laser similar to the bodyguard .380

There's what looks like a button on the side.
>>
>>32571740
>somehow got a 1911 grip/trigger in a striker fired fun
It looks like ass. There's also nothing noteworthy about using a 1911 styled grip, who cares? Also who cares what the trigger looks like?

It's probably going to be shit, there's a reason why not many 'new' gun companies form and when they do they often don't have unique new designs.
>>
>>32575296
>There's also nothing noteworthy about using a 1911 styled grip

I find the grip angle really comfy. Don't like grip safeties, though.
>>
They seem to have found some funding to get this marketing campaign going. They must have sold an investor on the innovation, so that's a decent sign.

I'm not sure if there's anything to hype up here or not. There's a pretty low chance that they've actually revolutionized pistol design. And even if they do, does the whole package have what it takes to beat carry pistols like glock, s&w, or even sig saur, if that's the price range they're trying to aim for.

I just want to know what they've done and why they think it's better than existing designs. Until i see it, it's all just marketing hype.
>>
Is it double or single action?
>>
>>32575390
striker, nigga
pretty sure you can even see a weird blade-safety on the trigger
>>
>>32575441

Dumbass, strikers can be double or single action just the same as hammers. The only difference is whether it travels linearly or pivots around an axis.
>>
>>32572449
If you're a fudd or a strikerbabby.
>>
>>32575390

I'm going to guess fully-cocked striker with a short travel, as that seems to be in vogue because muh trigger pull. Unlike the various other SFA guns that keep pushing that "I swear Cletus it's the next best thing to a 1911" vibe in their quest to replicate cocked-and-unlocked carry, this one at least has a thumb safety.
>>
>>32574900
Yes, that's exactly my point.

Hey, if I saw a sign that said "male run daycare" I'd be equally as alarmed.
>>
>>32571740
I like the design. How the trigger guard extends under the barrel, or how the frame is bigger. Whichever it is. What other pistols do this?
>>
Beside the mag release being in a shit spot, it looks some pretty cool section 9 shit, would give it a chance if California ever gets relieved of our communist government.

You know Para doublestacks and 2011s have been around for ages. Sorry it doesn't play with your $17 mag fantasy
>>
>>32574741
Have nothing against the the way it looks, or the concept. However this isn't gonna play well with most of the lights/lasers on the market and it seems like a step back to use pressure switches.
>>
Depending on the price, sure.
Has all the signs of being featured in a Forgotten Weapons episode in a decade or so, though. We will see when the first reviews start rolling in.
>>

and they hold about 3-5 more rounds in a flush fit or slightly-beyond flush fit mag.

Maybe the production version is different, but this picture of a prototype looks like a steel frame.
>>

Go away, Yankee Marshall
>>
>>32577908
The mag is also duct taped up, why take a promo pic with a shitty duct taped up product? lmao, women can't into business 101.
>>
>>32577941
Prototype is probably using a modified version of someone else's magazine since that is a part that generally takes a lot of iterations to get right. Duct tape is covering up the logo.

It says "veteran and woman run." Probably a dude and his wife. Calm down, /pol/.
>>
>>32578019

Why would they advertise they are veteran and female?
>>
>>32578019
ITT: people who don't know about how many women-owned, veteran-owned small businesses there are in defense because that gives you a leg up in contracting.
>>
>>32578038

because it gives you preferential treatment in contracting.
>>
>>32578072

So they are delusional and think they will pick up a government contract?
>>
>>32578235

or they're not sure if they'll build something else like some small parts on a government contract and don't want to shoot themselves in the foot by not being a veteran/woman small business.

it's a business decision, how are you morons not seeing this.
>>
>>32578257

The bid process has nothing to do with their promotional flyer. There is no reason to list it.
>>
>>32578322
normies and fudds like those things too
>>
>>32578235
you don't have to land a contract to replace the M9 to get a gov't contract
they could sell two dozen guns to a boondocks Iowa sheriffs department

also, if they want to market to women, then women owned is a good marketing tactic
>>
>>32578322

and there's no reason not to list it either. it helps much more than it hurts their performance in the coveted neckbeard MRA market.
>>
>1911 trigger
>shitty glock trigger pull
>all that extra for the beaver tail
looks like shit anon
>>
>>32571740
literally why. If it's still a single stack then there's no point to it.
>>
>>32578493
It's double stack.
I don't see much purpose of using this for a duty gun over anything else, but a steel frame double stack striker fired 1911 could be awesome for competition or just plinking if the trigger doesn't blow and if they can tap into the 1911 aftermarket to some degree.

I'm curious if there is some strange recoil system in there or if they just dropped the recoil spring and guide rod down really low so the forces acting on it are more in line with your hand.

Smith Enterprises, of the M14 fame, is >an "8A", small and disadvantaged business that is woman owned, Native American and Veteran operated

It's all about gaming contracts. Because equal opportunity isn't about equal treatment.
