SCAR 17S in FDE. I got every other rifle that isn't a bolt or lever action I wanted in the run up to the election, but the SCAR was just out of reach. Retainer plates are better, and easier to install than the standard paper clip one. But the russian ones are no better than the american made plate you can get for dirt cheap anywhere online. I'm no expert, but I've never heard of the spring failing. Maybe so, maybe not.
I personally got a US made plate for around $8 or so because I kept having a bitch of a time getting the spring in just right. I'd think it was in and there would still be one pin loose or something. So I bought a plate and now it just drops in super easy every time and both pins are locked in.
If the spring works for you then use it.
As for the russian plate, if you want to brag to people online that your retainer plate came from russia, then get one. They're cheap (around $9 or so) but then you gotta pay international shipping and play the waiting game.

More realistically though I'm wanting a South African R1 build. I just need to decide if I want to go full autism and get one/build one as original as possible or cut some corners on authenticity and save some money, time, and effort.

I've wanted a Galil for a while now, but I don't want to spend a lot of money and I don't trust a Golani. I'd love to scrounge parts and build an R4 but that's not too realistic.

And I'm also getting pretty interested in the new CZ P10. The few that have them so far have been comparing them to the PPQ and some are even saying they shoot better than the PPQ, and if that's the case then that's phenomenal because the PPQ is one fantastic pistol. If I ever do decide to get one though itd be after a bit so they can iron out any bumps they might have considering they're still brand new and nobody knows how well they're gonna hold up over time.

And ALSO whenever i see you post it makes me want an Arsenal Strike One because they're neat and different

What daewoo said. Nail polish remover has additives that might react with your project in ways you wouldn't expect or desire.

Turpentine (mineral spirits) work the best for stripping paints and adhesives in my experience. They aren't as rough on the workpiece as acetone (that they won't dissolve plastics immediately is a great advantage).

i don't believe the AG-4 phenolic resin would be at risk, but if you wanted to clean a DVD case for instance acetone would dissolve the transparent cover and likely the black part of the case as well depending on the material used
