No lol thank god. It's a one time punishment tax.

Fun fact: the rate hasn't been adjusted since it became law in 1934. I believe inflation adjusted it was around $3500 in today's dollar. Basically it was making it so that only very rich people could have the luxury of NFA items.

>>32555746
The biggest drawback is the obligation to keep your papers on you, and not being able to take it out of state without an approved 5320.20 (takes a couple weeks to get approved). Plus you're voluntarily putting yourself on a "list."

My experience with the desk jockeys at the ATF has actually been overwhelmingly positive. They've been very nice and willing to work with me to get approved.

And also not being able to take it literally across the street or to the range without an approved 5320.20, unless your NFA item is a suppressor.

How is this acceptable to anyone with an SBR or SBS? Are they accidentally or intentionally breaking the law every time they go to the range?

Look for a video from Jeremiah Cohn of Kalashnicohn on Wed if you're really interested in a Vitaz and can't wait for sanctions.

All US made and has nothing to do with KC USA. Apparently that has to be stated as there was some confusion in the last thread that it was mentioned in.
Also, they're making parts kits for them as well. Again, made in the US not illegally imported as was previously thought in the prior thread.

There is one problem i have with the AK, and that is that the butt stock just seems small. When i put it to my shoulder it just feels like there isnt enough meat and that its generally uncomfortable.

also i want to see some pictures of plastic stock AK's for varieties sake.

When you first mentioned that I didn't know what Kalashnicohn was an I thought you were talking about Kalash USA, which has said some bullshit about a US made Vityaz I believe. That's why I was calling bullshit. But I've been following Kalashnikohn on Instagram and he actually has some cool stuff in the works. Obviously it won't be an indistinguishable reproduction of a Vityaz but his seems a lot better than a generic 9mm blowback gun that looks like an AK.
>>
>>32557798
I figured you'd figure out that they were different eventually. No biggie Chimps. I don't believe K USA will ever produce anything and if they do it'll be complete shit. Kalashnicohn might actually make a decent 9mm Vityaz-like clone base on what I've seen.

If his posties are any indication, his production Vityazs will be a lot like the early models. Hopefully he can get some railed dust cover versions in the future.
>>
>>32557208
Yes, for export.
>>
>>32557858
>I don't believe K USA will ever produce anything and if they do it'll be complete shit.

I just want to completely forget about all US made AK's and get back to ships full of Russian made AK's making their way toward our shores. Imagine...just imagine $499 Saiga's again.
>>
>>32557906
I love Russian made AKs and I touch myself to the thought of their importation again, but I have nothing against US companies producing AKs as long as they don't fuck it up. Unfortunately they're far and few between.
>>
>>32557798
Wasn't there a bunch of Vityaz parts kits that came in around 2013?
>>

>>
>>32557939

>>
>>32557283
>>32557858
God why can't this kind of stuff be available NOW?? I've wanted a Vityaz for a long time and I want one NOW!! I hate the "hmm maybe in X years they'll be imported" or the "hmm maybe in X years we can get a steady supply of parts to build them on our own" game. There is so much cool AK related stuff out there that I just wish we could get. I'd suck dick for an AK107, and I really hope that we'll get some of these cool things in the US with Trump, or at the very least get a GOOD US manufacturer who can produce some examples of them at good quality that won't cost an arm and a leg.

>>32557939
I hope for this. I hope they don't get fucked and are allowed to open up. That would be incredible.
>>
>>32557988
Cohn said he'd make a vid on Wed about it, so he'll probably start taking pre-orders then for complete pistols and carbines.

That's as close to a Vityaz now as you'll get.

Comes with a black ((10)). I bought mine new in July. The sling is alright but surplus slings are cheap if you want to switch it out

Mine came with a 30rd circle 10. It ships with the same OD sling Arsenal includes with every rifle. For the purposes of carrying the rifle slung on your back it'll do just fine but it's too short to do a whole lot with otherwise.

Quick question:

Suppose you were in a gun fight in total darkness. Are you proficient enough to reload your magazine in the dark? Compared to an AR where it just slaps right in. Can you load you mag with your eyes closed anons?
>>
>>32560924
AK Files is for marketplace. The AK Forum is for actual discussion.

Yes i find ak mag changes easier, and i like the feeling of the rock and lock. You always know its seated properly or it very obvious its not, unlike a ar.
>>
>>32560954
It takes slightly more practice than AR reloads, but yeah. Index points brah
>>
>>32560954
I am, however, I'd be super fucked if I went through 45 rounds in total darkness and had to reload.

>inb4 malfunctions
I don't keep spare mags on my person when I sleep either, so like I said, super fucked
>>
>>32561019

pffft

>i always know its seated correctly unlike an AR

more like

>im a moon rune dune coon and i dont know how the fuck to load a clip in the shoulder thing that goes up

if you got any ass in your lifetime you would remember how to load an AR-15 because all the old bitch needs is a good slap under the mag once her bolt rides home
>>
>>32560954
The actual action of swapping magazines is much faster and more idiot proof than with an AR. You can even add a magwell funnel if you want.

I really don't like inserting magazines on ARs. I'll miss the magwell, then over correct and miss again on the other side, then make it in, but if I'm pushing or pulling on the mag the friction binds it up. Then if my grip is too high on the mag my hand runs into the lower receiver and I have to adjust my grip to finish seating it. Then with a lot of magazines you have to seat it with the force of a thousand suns to get it to lock in if it's fully loaded. And it's possible to get it far enough in to stay in place, but your first shot will make the mag drop out.

With an AK you just rock and cock. It's either in or isn't. The only way you can fuck up is by getting maglock, which I haven't gotten in years because it's so easy to just not do that.
>>
>>32561103
Also like to point out that with an AR it's much easier to accidentally bump the mag release against something, which will let the mag inch out just a little bit if you're unlucky, but still hold in place. First shot, mag falls out. Can easily happen if it gets pressed against a buckle or something. Obviously not a concern if you're just shooting at a range but if you have your rifle slung behind your back, hiking or something, you can't tell what's going on back there. The mag release of an AK is in a crook of the gun which makes it less susceptible to being actuated unintentionally.
>>
>>32560954
Absolutely. I prefer rock and lock, be it my AKs or FALs. It's just simpler and you know when it's in with no slapping the mag to make sure it's seated needed.

The only thing I prefer about AR mag changes is the ability to just press the release and the mag falls out while you're already grabbing a fresh mag to reload. With practice it's seamless (FAL is the same way and I prefer FAL reloads over AKs and ARs for that reason; drop free one handed with ease and rock and lock). I just don't like he actual mag insertion on ARs.

>>32561103
With an AK you just rock and cock. It's either in or isn't. The only way you can fuck up is by getting maglock, which I haven't gotten in years because it's so easy to just not do that.

And even when it happens literally all you have to do beat it out with another mag. It's easy as pie to fix, and even easier to just not get maglock.

It's just another instance of "when something goes wrong on an AK just hit it" compared to "when something goes wrong on an AR first determine what kind of malfunction it is and do your super speedy tactical drill to fix it, and it that doesn't work time to call time out and fix it"

45 rounds is probably enough frankly. Drawn out gunfights really just don't happen to civilians. If you want to train your reloads and run drills and buy highspeed gear, that's your prerogative and I say go for it. Won't bother me one bit. It depends on who built it, how the rivets look, how straight the trunnions is parrelel to the barrel and how well the barrel looks.
Also look at the bolt, bolt carrier and bullet guide area for cracks, unusual marring, mushrooming on the back end of the bolt carrier (where it bashes he rear recused) and mag wobble. Don't worry about trigger BC the AKT trigger is to cheap it's worth he change out anyways.

vinyl does poorly with heat, the adhesives used are weak and leave residue, and nothing should ever be electrically isolated with tape

in an electrical context, the best tape is conductive tape used for ESD packaging, and packaging is all it should be used for

you wouldn't believe the things people try to do with this shit. here's a laser disc player I was repairing where someone tried to tape a cap on instead of soldering it (!). the tape invariably melted and then the connection was lost

tape is good for keeping track of screws and small parts. i tend to draw a rough outline on paper of whatever i'm repairing and tape hardware near where it came from on said paper

hope you didn't think we're only autistic about AK rifles
>>
>>32554963
might want to get a TWS dogleg or the Zenit railed dust cover that connects to the lower handguard.

Then you might be able to use regular AR QD mounts and stuff.

The tape does fine as long as you don't put it on the receiver
>>
>>32562051
I agree it does poorly in high heat but for low voltage applications (i.e. 120vAC and below) it is fine imho.
>>
>>32562056
TWS doglegs are such shit for big optics. Kinda ok for red dots, but when you put anything the size of the pictured optic on it, it starts to bend and flex when you open it and the optic is pretty much always going to bang into the AK.

I had a 1-4x on a TWS, would not recommend this.

izolenta in the context of AK rifles is neat, i'm not digging on you. just being real about the mechanical limitations of 1" vinyl tape
1hr in the FL sun and my mags would be on the ground
>>32562092
are we talking about taping 30AWG wires to the bottom of a board or covering up a hot exposed main? there's a big difference. I wouldn't trust vinyl tape in either application

if you need to secure components beyond the mechanical connection of solder you use glues (hot glue for easy rework, up to epoxies for anti-tamper and rough conditions), and if you need to isolate them too you use potting compound. tape has no place in professional work outside of packaging

if we're talking about home electrical wiring, connections get terminated with proper terminals. never tape

have some tubes for reading all that.
mad props if you recognize this piece of hardware

No, I should have been more clear. I would definitely not use solely 33 at the connection point, maybe at where a lug was crimped onto the wire, but rarely at the connection point. Now if there is a break in the insulation, well of course (depending on voltage ofc).

Now with circuit boards, anyone using electrical tape is a complete dumbass.

Functionally they are near identical. But any AK nerd could make a huge list of differences between an SLR-107 and a true AK103. Even my sidefolding SGL21 isn't a perfect clone.

Shitpost Question here:
Ive been thinking of getting an underfold ak as a truck gun for its slimmer profile than a side folder.
This would be my first ak and maybe only ak
my question would be what companies and things should I look for when buying an underfolder and what supporting products/mods/accessories should I consider as well.
I was thinking of getting a Magpul pistol grip and handguard at least if they hold up ok.

It should be a given to avoid CAI right?
