Something under 200 would be preferable. It would be for self defense only.
>>
why would you want a cheap as hell handgun for defense?
>>
>>32553527
because some people aren't exactly rolling in it
>>
Hi point
Something used in a "it'll shoot but it looks like it's been buried in mud for 3 years" condition

A hi point in hand is better than a glock on layaway. Replace it ASAP but having something is better than nothing

Hi-Points are ugly as sin, but they run under $200 usually. It's on you if the mag falls out while you're trying to shoot, though.
>>
>>32553540
you can get a decent shotgun for around 200, but as for pistols a hipoint is really your only option

.38 or .357 revolver, used or sometimes even new.
Plenty out there to be had at a bargain.
Hi-Point isn't the only handgun answer.
>>
Actually the Taurus 85 is a capable 38 special.
>>
The Smith and Wesson sd9ve is another good option. Clone of a Glock 17.
>>
>>32553486
Hi-Point is the obvious answer. I've owned a few and they are passable. There are other options, such as a flood of inexpensive concealed carry .380s and 9mms from Taurus and other low-end companies.

If you look at the used gun market you might snag a used Ruger P-Series or a surplus Tokarev for around $200, but it is slim pickings.

Roughly where do you live? I can browse Armslist postings for you.
>>
>>32553527
Poor as hell, and living and working in a poor as fuck neighborhood exacerbates my need for self defense. I quit smoking recently though, so I should have enough saved for a decent gun in 2-3 months, just want something to hold me over until then.

I've had a few altercations with dindus, they know my face now and seemingly all of them are related in some way so I've been having more and more issues, I refuse to get cucked by these people so I act aggressively towards them instead of cowering in fear of them and it makes the problem worse.
>>
>>32553660
That's under$300 though not $200. Reasonable suggestion though.
>>
>>32553781
go get yourself a 350 budget

150 for a 38sp snubby
150 for an used pump 12ge (pardner)
50 for a box of .38JHP and a box of 3/0 buck
>>
>>32553486
Look at one of caniks models. Some of them can be acquired really cheap and they are good quality guns, probably better than half of what will get recommended. Go to an LGS and hold one.
>>
> Rock Island Armory M206
> Bersa Thunder/Firestorm
> S&W SD9VE

All a little over your budget but best bang for your buck. Buy once cry once.

Rock Island Armory 1911s are selling for just under 400 at Sportsmans guide right now.

The Zastava M70A is just over 200 and apparently it's decent,

but honestly why the fuck would you wan to skimp on something that you might have to bet your life on? I work a minimum wage job and I was still able to scrape together 500 for a glawk. If you look hard you can get something way cheaper too, I kind of got ripped off.

Just make some sacrifices, stop buying beer, stop eating out every night and cook for yourself (this makes a huge difference) and before you know it you'll have enough.

Some things are good to buy cheap versions of, guns aren't one of them.

>>
>>32554517
Save up 500 for your first handgun. You might not need all of it but you can spend the rest on ammo and accessories. IN fact as a rule of thumb save up at least 500 for any gun. Yes you can find decent guns for way cheaper than that, but a lot of times you'll see something that just feels better and is built better, and that's worth it if you ask me.
>>
>>32554531
Said poster doesn't have one so he has no experience with them. I owned a stingray c at one point and it was a great gun. Finish was on par from what CZ puts out but it was great mechanically.
>>
>>32553486
JA-9. It's about 150 bucks (I've seen price as low as 99 bucks in some gunshop)

It holds 12 round (+1 in the chamber), the trigger is crisp and the sight is decent enough. You could get cheaper gun like P3AT but wouldn't use it as my go to gun
>>
>>32554473
Not the bersa they r shit
>>
Save up a bit and buy an m&p shield
>>
>>32554531
FTE's out the ass, not durable past 1500 rounds
>>

based on what evidence, im curious because i also need a cheap gun

personal experience with the SF, didn't make it through a 2 day pistol class. instructor said he's had a couple Canik's that had issues in class
>>
>>32553632

I recommend changing the grips on an 85. I had one for a little while and the grips were really uncomfortable to shoot.
>>
>>32553781
>>32553486
Get a Charter Arms UCL. They're only like $300 new, probably a lot less used and can fire .38 +P.
>>
Zastava m88a or m70a

I don't own one
>>
>Polish P64
>Zastava M88A
>Armscor M206
Those would be my top 3. But, having owned a P64, I can tell you that while it is easy to concealed carry, it's not very comfortable to actually shoot.
>>
>>32553486
Just search armslist. Recently got an LCR for $200
>>
>>32554819
bersa firestorm is pretty gr8 actually
>>
>>32553486

Don't get a fucking Hi-Point.

Get a

-Taurus 709 Slim
-Taurus PT-22 or 25
-Taurus Model 85
-Pawn shop special .38 Spl or .22lr revolver
-Taurus TCP
-Kel-Tec
-Zastava M88A or M70
-S&W SD9VE
-Some older, used gun from a decent maker in just about any caliber

If you can't make it out to the range, sit at your house and work the slide over and over and over and clean the gun and carry it.

When the time comes, point and fucking squeeze. Repeat if necessary.
>>
>>32553486
Remember, you'll need $200 Plus! Practice ammo, Self defence ammo, Cleaning supplies, safe storage optional, holster optional if for carrying instead if home.

here u go OP

$175 for handgun + $25 for FFL fee

but you'll also need mags and ammo seperate but look at it this way

>not a hi-point or brazilian shit

Says the guy whose never fired a bersa. Theyre amazing guns.

I have tge T380, and ive shot close to 400 rounds through it from September. Its not alot, but it hasnt jamed on me yet. PMC, Steal cased, Bimetal, even used Federal and it didnt do shit. Bersa's are great guns, especially since theyre from Argentina.
>>
>>32553486

I've seen LCPs go for around $190. Do that.
>>
>>32559720

Callum or Tommy pls go.

It's ok to skimp a bit on your secondary but don't go cheap on your primary.
>>
>>32553486
A Tanfoglio Witness is around 30 bucks more and actually has a decent ammo capacity unlike Hi Points or revolvers.
>>
>>32555737
I can second this, at least for the TP9's. The CZ clones seem good but OP can land a EAA witness poly for 350 in 9mm absolutely excellent and payment plan it through Buds Guns
>>
>>32553486
Save your little allowance money or whatever, get a big boy job, then buy a good gun.
>>
>>32555737
Not here to defend the tp9 series but I'm curious what went wrong.
>>
>>32553486
I EDC a Kel-Tec P3AT. You can pick them up at a pawn shop for under $200. It is easily concealable, and reliable (if you keep it clean)

A Hi-point
>>
If you can afford to save up for a bit and bump your budget up to around $300, get a Bersa Thunder 380cc. It will be well worth it.

Otherwise, for $200, you are looking at a Hi-point and that's pretty much it.
>>
>>32553781
Chicago?

Ya ever consider that he's a student or some shit? Or that maybe he's looking for one and doesn't want to die in the meantime?

Your trip is accurate. You're too old to be here.

Go to your local walmart and buy a Maverick 88. Good quality 12 gauge pump shotgun that can be had for $190 to $210. If you want a handgun then consider an Armscor m206. It's a 6 shot 38 special revolver. No frills, but it can be had for $200 to $230 and functions reliably, which is a lot more than can be said for any auto-loading pistols in this price range.

>>
>>32563668
Not OP but as a noguns cuckifornian who spends hundreds renting random shit at the range every trip, I really want one.
>>
>>32563705
I live in commiefornia and I just went out and bought a pistol a couple months ago. The wait period sucks, but it's not like it's hard to get one.
>>
>>32563752
I'm just lazy I guess. Already moving out of state next month to SC so I'll start grabbing stuff then.
>>
>>32563752
same here. if the gun is legal here its honestly not all that difficult to buy
>>
>>32563785
Lucky you. I hope to leave this shithole soon as well.
