They have 2 hand brakes.

The inexperienced driver engaged the secondary mechanical handbrake that can not be removed by the crew, if I remember correctly.

It's called Mountain Brake. It ran on its own after some engineers disengaged it.

But that won't stop others from saying it's fake news and that what really happened was that there are little wheels below the tank that drove it forward.

>>32554214

>crew is retarded and poorly trained
There is no official 'military' crew, the prototypes were driven straight from the factory, UVZ wanted their engineers to drive it during the parade but MoD says that the military should drive during the military parade. There are other failures during the parade such as the T-15 evacuator fail that are blamed on conscripts not fully trained on the new vehicles and are used to drive on older vehicles.

>vehicle has a brake that cannot be undone by the crew

Yes, because of poorly trained conscripts.

Russia is "perfection is the enemy of the good enough" personified, and it's likely why they get by far the biggest bang for their buck in terms of defense spending v. actual capabilities.

Just look at how disgustingly third world looking their shipyards are and realize that despite how gross and half-assed their naval infrastructure is, they're still able to crank out some of the best subs on the planet.

Soviet run through "multiculturalism and tolerance" phase in 20th. Gender equality, religious freedom (for muslims, not for christians) and race equality. Culturally, they were about 50-70 years ahead of Western societies.

The final redpill is realizing that there's nothing wrong whatsoever with socialism, collectivism, and central planning when it is implemented within a high-IQ, ethnically homogeneous population.

Sweden was god-tier before multiculturalism, as was Russia from the 60s to the 80s, and as is China today.

Socialism + human biodiversity = disaster
Capitalism + human biodiversity = Apartheid

What's the common thread? Ideology is irrelevant to a nation's success. Demographics are all that matters.

The difference being the T-14 has them near the center of an unarmored shell without any auxiliary sight.

You'll have to shoot at the roof of an M1 to knock out its GPS, and if you do, it can still shoot you with WW2-era gunnery, which works well enough.

Depending on how the tank's sensor fusion works, the gunner should be able to use the CITV, the driver's FLIR and the panoramic cameras as backup sights without losing as much gunnery capability as using a GAS would entail.

>Are there any recorded instances of anyone using the GAS at all in combat?

In Korea and WWII there were a number of instances where looking straight through the tube were used in order to maximize hull down positions.
>>
>>32554693

>depending on

That's the main thing. I don't know how you'd go about making it work with the driver's sight simply because you know, you going to want to drive and shoot.

M1s haven't needed to as the GPS hasn't gone down. The only instance I recall was the RPG-29 to the right turret that disabled the GPS.
>>
>>32554728
>A brad used its aux sight in desert storm
I wouldn't be surprised.
But from the way people talk in threads about the Armata you'd think the GAS sees regular enough use that to not have one is a crippling defect rather than something that simply comes in handy now and then.

>>32554736
GAS's are definitely useful for checking whether the barrel has a clear LOS past obstructions.
But during the Korean war, as far as I know, the primary sight for US tanks were all telescopes.

>>32554780
>because you know, you going to want to drive and shoot.
I don't mean anything like commandeering the driver's sight, only that it might be linked into the tank's panoramic camera system, so that the driver would be using as normal while at the same time the driver's FLIR would be supplying image data to the gunner.
