Which would be the better choice if all other fighters suddenly got scrapped?
>>
>>32549113
T1/T2 Eurofighter < Rafale < T3 Eurofighter
>>
>>32549113
Any fighter>rafale>shit≥>>>>>>rutofihter
>>
In part, it depends on what sort of Air Force you want to deploy. Eurofighter is a bit stronger in the A2A realm, while Rafale is optimized for A2G. I believe the Eurofighter has a wider array of available weapons, while the Rafale is designed to use French munitions. Both are quite expensive, but highly capable.
>>
The Eurofighter was a mistake. Why didn't we just buy F-16s?
>>
>>32552225
national pride and gotta prop up that indigenous aerospace industry

Rafale is cuter.

Because muh industry.

Same reason we didn't buy M16 instead of shittiest service rifle in history.

Back of the napkin math tells Rafale could even with >>32554689 pictured load. It's however usually the landing distance that is more critical factor in limiting operations from super short roadbases and in that Gripen has quite an advantage being such a light aircraft

Fair enough

How's this then

1x 27mm Cannon
4x Meteor
2x ASRAAM
4x Paveway IV
6x Brimstone
1x LITENING Pod
2x Drop Tanks

6 A2A munitions, 10 A2G munitions, a cannon, targeting and extra fuel on one load.

Here's another recent payloaded one. The Typhoon flew a high energy airshow routine while loaded with 4 Meteor, 2 ASRAAM, 2 Drop Tanks, 6 Brimstone and 2 Paveway, along with a loaded gun to show off how it retains agility even while loaded to the gills with dormant hot metal.

Image of the upcoming high payload Spear concept. 16 missiles with ranges of 120km+ each, using Brimstone's volley swarm tech. Also 4 Meteors and 2 ASRAAMs with 3 drop pods. Note the lack of a targeting pod. Spear, like Brimstone, doesn't actually need it.

Older payload. 4x 1,000lb Paveways, 2 ASRAAM, 2 AMRAAM, 2 Drop tanks and a targeting pod.

Interesting that the rear BVRAAM hardpoints are empty. It'd still be well within its payload.

Typhoon with 6 MARTE-ER Anti-Ship Missiles, 2 SRAAMs and 4 AMRAAMs, at least that I can see.

Typhoon with (I think) 4 AMRAAM, 4 ASRAAM and 2 Drop Tanks. A2A loadout. Could probably carry more.

Thats all I've got for the Typhoons payloads. Hope it satisfied your "reasons". Remember to use good lubricant and clean up afterwards.

It actually is a hook. The F-16 has one as well- the idea is to be able to stop a aircraft if the brakes have malfunctioned.

Almost every fighter has one. The carrier based ones are just more heavily overbuild so they can take up the beating that the repeated usage subjects them to. Case in point, Rafale B in pic

there is also an old photograph (pic related) with scalp/stormshadow (or maybe the now retired apache anti runway cluster bomb dispenser missile, can't tell) under hardpoint 1 (closer to fuselage) and 1100L tanks under hardpoint 2. Which tends to prove a 4 to 5 scalp/stormshadow configuration would be possible... It would serve no purpose (small combat radius with too many weapons and too little internal fuel) but would be fun to watch.

It's the same old story just like with the typhoon : we need these conformal tanks to free some pylons for long range strikes !

It's also why I strongly believe the future fighters made in EU (if there are any since future looks bleak) should be fitted with much bigger internal tanks.

Rafale because it's sexy as hell.
