There where few high polished, just not in that serial range. 95% of 1905's with that luster where refinished.
The finish was originally mid-grade polish and non flame blued controls on OP

I'd call that somewhere between 240 grit and 400 grit polishing compound.
Those frames and slides were first contoured on belt sanders, then polishing wheels.
For those of you kiddies who've never seen an '05 before- it has two links, one in the front and one in the back. I came close to buying one for an absurdly low price back in the '80's, but I bought a new Springfield instead. Oh well.
