Because survivalist nutters want a bogey man to prepare for but don't want to be unpatriotic by talking about killing US servicemen.

Really though the UN are like the shittest bogeymen ever, they can't stop guys with machetes killing a million people, and need a call and an overseas phone call to fire back.

They're useless at anything other than very basic stuff, basically no threat whatsoever.

Subconsciously they know they are economically oppressed, and just a few rungs from the bottom. They express their discontent by opposing imaginary foes like the the UN, regurgitate positions like opposing the EPA. Often this will be coupled with strong virtue signaling patriotism and ridiculing various social groups that have historically been beneath them.

The only world coming to an end is theirs

the USA is not the only country that willingly ignores the UN when it's convenient

the UN is practically powerless and is mostly used to get world leaders to talk to each other

not surprising he doesn't quite hit the nail on the head, if you read into it.

I would think preppers would be more concerned about FBI/CIA more than anything; basically any sort of federal agent. Anyone who does cursory research into the UN knows that they could never hope to quell any sort of conflict in the US.

>Why do American gun owners and preppers hate the UN?

In general, because the UN is a wholly un-elected globalist organization that mostly benefits the top 1%er globalists running the show and specifically, because the UN is openly anti-self defense and anti-right to keep & bear arms and is continually pushing for global gun control via “arms proliferation” treaties (i.e. the government has guns, you do not).

The danger of the UN isn’t that they’re somehow going to invade the U.S. in a "Red Dawn" type scenario, but that they get bazillions of OUR tax dollars and then use that money to further diminish the inalienable human rights of the American people (and humans globally).

>Yeah, Somalia was a text book example what happens if you don't try to disarm the population.

Except the vast majority of people in Somalia _are_ disarmed and are thus completely subject to roving gangs of ARMED thugs.

If the UN were truly concerned about the average Somali people, they'd be paradropping them crates of AK-47s...
>>
>>32536694
If they did care about the average Somali they would try to have a proper military force fight a proper war and fuck up the warlords. Like what AMISOM are doing.

Because without communists to fear, the militia movement freaked out about Bush's "New World Order" comment and started shitting out all kinds of conspiracy theories. Black helicopters mutilating cattle, that sort of thing. The assaults on Waco and Ruby Ridge only intensified that persecution complex.

>>32535951
>>32535970
And then these idiots don't even understand what the UN is, or how we use it to influence global affairs. They just see it as foreigners telling us what to do, ignoring the fact that we literally veto everything that could harm us and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

For what it's worth, I don't think Americans should be involved in peacekeeping though. That's a clusterfuck anyway you look at it.

Except when the security forces leave, they forcibly disarm the people and leave only the government (i.e. armed thugs) with guns.

The right to self defense and thus the right to keep & bear arms, is a fundamental natural human right. Any and all weapons, short of nuclear, biological, chemical and explosive WMDs, ought to be freely and legally available

It is simply illogical to suggest that humans are somehow safer and better off, as the UN claims, if they’ve been stripped of their right to effectively defend themselves.

In 2008 the Democrats did polls asking what people thought if the UN declared we had to give up our guns. Something like 88% said no. Even antigunners don't want the UN to have that authority over us.

They are a back up plan for attempting to disarm America.

Because that doesn't really fit with the UN as a globalist superpower or as a needlessly antagonist cockblocker narratives.

Blue helmets are complete joke. Not even poorest and dumbest tribal militias take them seriously. When they are not standing idly doing nothing to keept the peacce, they are kidnapped, or intimidated or held for ransom.

Every time blue helmets were deployed in recent history, they were underequipped, weak, passive, and utterly useless. From srebrenica to darfur and uganda, there are no cases where UN forces as a whole did their job properly.

UN forces are joke. Most of them are 3rd world countries that use the fact that UN pays for peaekeeping missions and provide them with food and quipment to save money .

Literally only people in the world that fear these clowns are Americans

>Hurr hurr, evil UN stormtroopers are going to come to murrika and take our guns and our freedoms.

Yeah. The same guys who were unable to deal with machette wielding tribals and 3rd world slavs from attacking each other, will suddenly turn into Waffen SS 2.0 and will grind US patriots under their blue jakboots.

>If you are talking about the UN Arms Trade Treaty you are talking bullshit, it does not state that civilians shouldn't own firearms.

Except that is exactly what these “non-proliferation” treaties do. I isn’t just about preventing dictators from getting tanks and fighter planes, it bans civilian weapon ownership across the board. The ONLY civilian weapons allowed are single-shot break-open shotguns for “pest control” and even those require jumping thru all kind bureaucratic hoops to get.

It’s the reason the NRA got registered as an official “non-governmental observer” or some such, so they could sit in on the UN meetings and call them out on their bullshit.

https://www.nraila.org/articles/20130925/obama-administration-signs-united-nations-arms-trade-treaty
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2013

Fairfax, Va. – Today, Secretary of State John Kerry signed the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty on behalf of the Obama administration. The National Rifle Association strongly opposes this treaty, which is a clear violation of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“The Obama administration is once again demonstrating its contempt for our fundamental, individual Right to Keep and Bear Arms,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. “This treaty threatens individual firearm ownership with an invasive registration scheme. The NRA will continue working with the United States Senate to oppose ratification of the ATT.”

A bipartisan majority of the U.S. Senate is already on record in opposition to ratification of the ATT. On March 23, the Senate adopted an amendment to its FY 2014 Budget Resolution, offered by Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), that establishes a deficit-neutral fund for “the purpose of preventing the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.”

Notably, the ATT includes "small arms and light weapons" within its scope, which covers firearms owned by law-abiding citizens. Further, the treaty urges recordkeeping of end users, directing importing countries to provide information to an exporting country regarding arms transfers, including “end use or end user documentation” for a “minimum of ten years.” Each country is to “take measures, pursuant to its national laws, to regulate brokering taking place under its jurisdiction for conventional arms.” Data kept on the end users of imported firearms is a de-facto registry of law-abiding firearms owners, which is a violation of federal law. Even worse, the ATT could be construed to require such a registry to be made available to foreign governments.

>>
>all these memes about the UN

I would be 100% against the UN like the rest of you if it was actually an impartial arbiter with fair rules, but fortunately it is not.

The UN is actually a benefit to the United States and all of the other nations with a permanent seat on the Security Council, because the UN exists to allow those nations to exert their will on everyone else without having to go to war first. This is the reason why you never see significant binding resolutions being passed against the US, UK, France, Russia, or China, only their enemies. Those five nations make the rules by which everyone else has to play, and the rules don't apply to them.

Furthermore, between those five nations on the Security Council, the United States is by far the most powerful and influential of them. We can reasonably expect the two other western members to always vote according to how the US does as long as we inform them ahead of a drastic move.

I can understand why some of you dislike the UN, but you should recognize that its failings as related to the United States stem from the people we have working for it rather than the organization itself, which, as mentioned above, only benefits us. I'm sure even the harshest critics of the UN would change their tune about it if all of the leftists/globalists in the State Department and US delegation were thrown out and replaced by nationalists whose prerogative was America first rather than one of cooperation/multilateralism.

Truth. Road to hell, good intentions, all that noise.
>>
>>32535942

B/c it's incompetent. And it's incompetent body where nothing gets done b/c the five powers that have veto powers (which is the only power that counts) have vested interests of their own. The five permanent members of the so called security council are often as odds at each other; make it a point to cockblock and plot against each other; and for the most of the UN's history have used the organization as a forum of its national policy/political ideology.

The problem isn't so much hate as is contempt. And the UN does deserve much contempt and if it is part of globalist ideology it proves that ideology of bringing nations together for a common cause of mutual security and stability is fucking folly b/c such a condition runs contrary of the nature of man.

Now, if the question is- the UN going to invade the US? The answer is with what? Who is going to pay for it w/o US dollars and other countries' money (that are friendly towards the US or allied with the US). Note that other nations' military contributions to various UN peacekeeping schemes range from first world nations' forces that is hampered by the incompetence by third world generals (or their complete lack of generalship) or their own political naviete to general third world corruption which includes rape, kidnapping, human trafficking; causing outbreaks of HIV and cholera; and the usual sorts of primitive savagery displayed by the wogs.

Nowhere in the whole article is anything about a ban of civilian small arms ownership.
I've glanced over the UN document as well and haven't found anything about a ban.

I've found the same things as stated by the NRA (suggestion of recordkeeping and info about arms transfers) and I understand that this can be seen as an attempt to circumvent some rights US gun owners currently have - but that has absolutely nothing to do with a small arms ban.

>Two things that have absolutely nothing to do with Trump.
Two things that were directly attributed to Trump. China's military expansion into the Pacific was going to jeopardize our allies security, especially South Korea.
Trump is the guy who came up with the idea for Japan to possibly have it's own nuclear capability.
China and NK would have to scale their military aggression by magnitudes.
You can't really be this ignorant.

I thought it was because the UN would send in its little inspectors and when Saddam basically said "Lol you can't come in, no WMD's here!" the UN basically rolled with it when we knew for a fact that they had WMD's.
>>
No one respects the UN because when they decide they do something, they do it half-heartily and when it comes time to get into some real shit they basically toss whoever they sent there (whom are usually underpaid and under-supplied) to the wolves and wash their hands of the situation while patting themselves on the back and say shit like "Well, at-least we tried!"

And the US in particular doesn't like them because they are an un-elected body that attempts to actively influence governments, using the very money they pay them with, in such a way that takes people's rights away.

No but apparently you are. You seriously think that Trump alone is the reason that Japan is seriously considering nukes? And that's going to somehow put China's military expansion "in shambles".

As for spending less money on NATO because we're friends with Russia. Russia's goals directly conflict with those of many NATO members, so no matter how friendly we get with them it's not really going to change anything.

>Mexico
The US isn't taking shit back. Trump stopped one company from moving 800 jobs away for the price of 7 million over 10 years. That is a HORRIBLE deal and is the kind of retarded behavior that just encourages companies to pretend to be moving out of the US, just to reap some tax breaks.

You do realize that the UN is built on a principle known as "selective ratification" meaning that no country is obligated to obey any legislation that it's own government doesn't ratify. That's literally one of the founding mechanics the UN's buerocracy.

Any sort of Venezuelan refugees would have to deal with immigration and border patrols eight times without the freedom of movement ability granted by the EU to aid them. I liked how people were talking in another thread about how if Russia acts up they can just get Saudi Arabia to crash its economy with the price of oil again. >>
>>32540109
See the thing is, it's useless and broken partly because all of the major powers of the world want it that way.

It'd be nice if the UN was actually able to stop some of the bullshit going on, like the genocides that happened in Rwanda. But if it could actually stop those, then it would theoretically be able to interfere with the plans of said major powers. And about the only thing they can agree on is that they don't like the idea of anyone being able to stop them when they misbehave. Whether it's Russia and Afghanistan, or the US and Iraq.

Shit, the whole 2 times we've seen the UN moving with actual authority toward a situation, it's been a huge success. Namely in Korea and with the Suez Crisis.

They are retooling a plant in Michigan, they aren't building a new facility, there is a massive difference between the two. If you actually looked into into it the reasons for moving the plant back were more economic than political. Also auto manufacturing is one of the most automated industries in the US that will only get more efficient, manufacturing WILL come back in the near future but without the jobs.

The Economics of the situation are heavily dependent on the political ones.

Not him, but the carrier deal was a bad deal.

In effect, it was paying a company to hire Americans, using massive tax cuts. This pay comes from either higher taxes or borrowing more. This is an increase in government size no matter how you look at it.

Its a bad fucking precedent making corporate interests the states interest, because now other businesses will want this special treatment and the government would either limit free trade by favoring Carrier over its rivals, or give massive tax cuts to all businesses that threaten to leave.

In the end you end up with some sort of guild system in a way. Where as all us peasants not fortunate enough to be in a guild has to pay higher taxes so that the guilds stay operating.

Put bluntly, the vast majority of the time that the UN attempts to intervene in a situation it either ends up not helping, making the situation worse, or making the situation marginally better. Granted the few times the UN has been allowed to roll out the guns it has gotten some shit done (SA peacekeepers btfo'ing rebels in the Congo for example), but that rarely happens. More often than not a UN mission is an extremely convoluted bureaucratic mess that either perpetuates the existing problem or makes it worse. Take for example the UN mission in Sierra Leone. These were the guys who were sent in because everyone got all butthurt about Executive Outcomes being successful. The UN mission rarely if ever probed into rebel held territory and patrols were regularly accosted and equipment and soldiers were routinely captured. And yet the UN said everything was going swimmingly. The only ones who ever did anything to combat the murderous RUF were the Brits and Neal Ellis and his crew in their Hind. And they got shit on in the press for it because the Peacekeepers bitched them out. In the end after years of Nigerian/Indian peacekeepers fucking around in Sierra Leone, the British finally went in and fucked the RUF, but in those years thousands of people in that country were murdered/raped/maimed. Because the UN didn't really give a fuck about the situation. This is just one mission, I'm not going to even start on the shitfests in
>Rwanda
>The Balkans (watch No Man's Land for a better understanding)
>The Congo (all of the missions)
>Current mission to Lebanon/Golan Heights
>KFOR
>Somalia
Etc.

I understand why the UN was created and honestly would be a bit more supportive of the organization, if it wasn't astoundingly incompetent/co-opted for the interests of nations trying to fuck over other nations. The UN honestly needs a fuckload of reform, or it needs to fuck off.
