The one thing I rarely hear people mention about the Mk. 23 is how huge it is. We're talking like. Borderline Desert Eagle here. Which I think is a mark against it.

FNX comes in smaller, and is insanely modular right out of the box. I think it's the definitive .45 pistol of this time.
>>
>>32534980
what a delicious meme :^)
>>
>>32534984
>you rarely hear about the mk23's size
Isn't there a meme about it being the world's only crew served handgun?
>>
>>32534874
When it comes to Mean Rounds Between Failure the HK45 is on top followed by the S&W M&P45, with the USP45 and FNX45 trailing just behind. The G21 is below the rest by a farther margin, but it still beats out basically all of the metal framed double stack .45's, including SiG's P227 by a large margin.

TLDR the FNX is just as capable as the USP45, and it beats the M&P and HK45 in mag capacity and a whole host of other features. It's a tremendous value.

>>32534927
VP9/40 is HK's foray into cheaper mass produced striker fired guns - they want a piece of that police market back. That said I expect HK will start rolling out with models tricked out with optics cutouts and threaded barrels in different colors do to the resounding success of the FNX
>>
>>32534980
There isn't a metal framed double stack that comes anywhere close in reliability to even the G21, which is lower on the totem pole.

I mean if you must go metal the P227 is viable, although for the money I would shoot higher for a STI

The FNX-45s suffer from a number of issues in small batches or isolated cases that get resolved by FN over time. Most of what I've personally seen is magazine or mag catch related (at least after they addressed the trigger pins). Another issue, and the one that prevents me from buying one still, is that detail stripping the frame involves pretty much destroying a part and bending the frame. There's a proprietary tool that FN uses to service the frame but they don't sell it, so basically it's not meant to be user serviceable.

The USP has been around forever and has a reputation the FNX hasn't had time to earn yet. Give it another 5 years.

>>
>>32535066
Not to mention, the FNX is cheaper than the HK
>>
>>32535171

The FNX and USP tactical versions in .45 hover around the same price. You lose a lot more value downgrading from the tactical model to the regular model with the FNX series than you do with the USP, for what it's worth.

I'm glorious PC gaming masterrace, wouldn't know.
My favorite game from youth would be alpha centauri, and I would totally love an orbital instable gravtank with a singularity gun. I can kinda get it, if HK updated the mk23 it would be great, but HK doesn't do updates.
>>
>>32535171
I think the sand colored Frame/Slide full sized HK45 looks like shit, the base model HK45 is in the same ballpark, the Threaded model costs more.
That said I think the threaded barrel sand frame, black slide HK45C is CUTE and would be great with an optics cutout and a full sized mag.

Also Walther is new to the game with the .45 PPQ M2, I expect it to be an ergonomics masterpiece like the M&P45

Not the guy you replied to, but I don't carry my USP. I have a holster that will fit it on my battle belt but it's not part of my edc. I also have an IWB holster for it without the light but that's another story.

But I do wish I could get a holster for my USP with the TLR and my light mount. I like the mount a lot when I take the light off, it looks better than the GG&G mount.

>>
>>32536232
Okay cool. The P-01 is next but I also want a USPc .45. I tried the HK 45c but I'm too big of a fan of the USP grips. That was my first pistol so it's what I'm comfortable with.

Ha, that's actually how I felt when I tried the HK45 series. The USPs just fit me too well.

To all the FNX guys here, not trying to shit on your platform. I love FN and really was really excited for a 15+1 suppressed. 45, just didn't fit me in the end though. I tried it out at a local title II manufacturer, didn't care for the grips or the weird ball on the bottom of the mags. Seemed to shoot pretty well though and by all accounts it's a fantastic pistol, just didn't fit me though.
>>
>>32536394
One size does not fit all
>>
You have to have at least 15 rounds for a double stack pistol

10 rounds is a joke, 12 rounds is passable as a range toy, but the fnx is the ONLY option right now for a double stack .45
>>
>>32535924
They'll definitely still be around, but unless they start changing things up they'll eventually lose traction in the civillain market. Because let's face it, they only really care about their military and police contracts. They'll continue to come up with the cool toys for military contracts and they'll trickle out a handgun or two every few years for us commonfolk.

Meanwhile you'll have FN cranking out all sorts of shit for the civillian market at competitive prices. They'll innovate and they'll sell more guns despite HK's cult following.
>>
>>32536394
USP grips are /comfy/. Haven't held an FNX before though so Idk how they compare.
>>
>>32536445
I didn't like them. I was willing to sacrifice, but they felt blocky and they're just long. You could make 15 round USP mags that extend below the grip but keep the same ergonomics. Imagine an uzi but the grips go down to the bottom of a 30 round mag. That's the FN.

The safety/decocker lever is pressed on. Only way to remove it is to break the thing. FN uses a special press to assemble them.

To get the locking block out you have to literally bend the frame open around it.

>>
>>32534874
FN makes the best everything in every category except shotguns and precision rifles.

You want the best rifle? SCAR or FN15. You want a heavier hitting rifle? SCAR H. You want a PDW? P90. You want a striker handgun? FNS. You want a thicc handgun? FNX45. You want ultimate tacticool? FiveseveN. You want to destroy everything in your path? M249 SAW.

Many militaries agree FN a best.
>>
>>32534980
Metal shit cracks due to wear sooner than plastic, and typically it's more expensive so plastic would be easier to replace (if it's like that new SIG monstrosity you can replace the frame without paperwork). Plus no rust and it's lighter. I see no benefit to metal handguns anymore. Metal mags however are very beneficial, I dislike Glocks for this reason. Something as vital as loading shouldn't be plastic on plastic due to it becoming difficult once dirt/mud is involved.
>>
>>32538633

It really is too bad about the SCAR 17's poor availability stateside. There's got to be just this perfect storm of negligent mismanagement and bureaucratic incompetence going on behind the scenes. Or maybe they just don't give a fuck after fulfilling their military contracts. Has the mk20 ssr even been released? How long has the 17 been out and they STILL can't figure out how to get these into the country reliably?

Don't worry though because they've got plenty of $1800 semi-auto M16s for you!
>>
>>32538449
