When: January 13th - 15th

Where: Taladega National Forest

Why: To shoot, drink, and post dank memes.

The chosen shooting range will be the Henry Creek shooting range, which can be found here http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/alabama/recreation/otheractivities/recarea/?recid=30177&actid=106 or by going to these coordinates 33.699235, -85.576406

The chosen camping ground will most likely be here 33.698666, -85.586706. I say "most likely" because I cannot plan 100% on a spot I have not been to in person, however this looks like the best bet for number of people expected to be attending and its proximity to the range. If something should come up and we be unable to use this site, I have several backup sites.

The Jewgle Doc I promised is up and can be found here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NmkANaZHoF2-kAu2lmbkoZkzAF2Q9rZ_HnNkJ78xQm0/edit#gid=0

A few notes on that. What I'm trying to do with this is make it so everyone can easily see what other people need and can help each other out if they're so inclined. It also allows me to get a more accurate count of people who are actually serious about going and what I need to try and provide. If you want to be in the groupme when I make it, which I would highly recommend if you plan on carpooling, then just shoot me an email with your phone number.

So a few updates since last week.

I spoke with the Forest Service today, and while I was not able to get a hold of the district LEO (on vacation), I was able to get some questions answered. However the absolute final word will have to come from the mouth of the LEO.

- An anon had expressed concern over having firearms stored in cars at the campground due to some case laws and state laws.
Since the firearms are not intended for hunting, instead for range usage, then they are legal within the national forest so long as they are stored inside the vehicles unloaded. Which obviously they will be at the campsite any ways.

- I asked if we could take them out for cleaning in the campsite, she said it shouldn't be a problem at all.

- As far as the camping location, she said we were fine since I had the permit.
The only rules to follow are those already listed for camping within the national forest, follow all fire regulations and observe all bans, practice leave no trace.

- The range fee is $3 per vehicle and is basically on the honor system since its just a drop box there at the range.

- The only thing left to do as far as camping goes is for me to sign the permit in person, which will be done on the way in.

I'll attempt to contact the LEO again next week, or leave a message for him. Will keep everyone updated on progress.

Rules

These are all pretty self explanatory since everyone will be grown ass adults.

- Safety (I cannot fucking stress this enough)
The last thing I need is having to take an anon to the hospital because he/she was acting retarded.

- Nothing illegal
I'm more referring to sketchy unregistered stuff here. If you're bringing it please bring paperwork to show an LEO if they decide to roll up. Nobody is going to be policing everyone to make sure its all "muh ATF compliant" but its in the interest of future meets.

- If you're bringing alcohol just don't be handling firearms afterwards, also no driving etc.

- Be courteous to each other
Get a bunch of socially awkward tards in a group and hand them guns, whats the worst that could happen? But in all seriousness if you're being a dick or causing trouble you will be asked to leave. I know its possible everyone can get along AND have a good time.

- Worst news yet, no tannerite or tracers. National forest regulation

Please note the $3 charge per vehicle for range access and be prepared with that in cash.

The Talladega NF fee page can be found here http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5413722.pdf

Now a little more fun topic, the itenerary.

Sorry for reposting so much of the same stuff every thread, I just want to make sure everyone gets the same information.

If anyone has a shot timer, that would be great for dicking around with 3gun shit.

A few anons seemed to like the idea of having a blanket shoot competition so I'll get the stuff together for that.

For anyone that doesn't know what a blanket match is; read below.
The basic breakdown is everyone brings a small gift or food or whatever to put on the blanket and then we set up a basic marksmanship competition.
>2 targets per shooter 50 yds
>2 Targets per shooter 100 yds
Everyone who puts something on the blanket shoots and then, starting from the highest score to the lowest, everyone picks something off the blanket.

Its a fun way to have a friendly competition where everyone ends up with something at the end. No limits on what you put down there either. The only rule is if you want to compete you got to put something of value on the blanket.

Also may have some other shooting competitions too, I have 2 skeet throwers so there's the possibility for a game of pickup as well.

Been working on targets and such for the past 2 weeks and I've got enough for a poor man's 3gun match if anyone is interested. Realistically I know not everyone has the 3 guns required, but I'm sure some other anons can help you out if you want to participate.

Make SURE you bring good eyepro since we will be shooting steel.

Update

Just got off the phone with AL DNR and there were some changes made to the plan.

The range is officially within the Choccolocco WMA so the previous campground options are going to be a no go.
The new campground location will be at the Pine Glen FS campground a few miles up the road.

There is no permit required to camp at Pine Glen, but the fee is $3 per car with a maximum of 2 cars per campsite. However more cars probably won't be a problem as long as the fee is paid. Number of sites is 21 and there will be grills and bathrooms.
Link can be found here https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/alabama/recarea/?recid=30159

Distance from the range to campsite is 3.5 miles.
Please note that in order to be able to legally transport the firearms through the WMA to the range, according to the supervisor I talked to, we have to take the "most direct route". He thankfully gave me an approved route and it is not backasswards out of the way.

For anyone interested in the route it is 500 south to 531 until it intersects with 548 (fuck AL county road names). The turnoff road for the range will be about a mile down on the right.

Here is the map of the WMA for reference. http://www.outdooralabama.com/sites/default/files/d2-2016-final-Choccolocco.pdf
It would be a good idea to print it out and bring a copy since FS roads can be fucky and there will probably be no reception.

..tally hits to determine winner

you can also shoot for a certain hand of cards. poker style..hit a card & its yours. miss & the other shooters have a chance to take it.. winner is the shooter with the best hand
