Once in a while reading through HVP and LRLAP replacement and these crude tech products came back into my mind. Forget that there wasn't sizable literature and discussion on them. Any Anons of /k/ can comment on its validity and feasibility in a timeframe over the next two decades? (seeing HVP is the priority)

"over the next two decades"?

What's the difference between "ramjet assisted projectiles" and "missiles using ramjet"?
>>32525013
He's talking about bullets that fire and then get boosted further and faster by an internal engine. Like a gyrojet but with an initial charge.

Missle =/= jet
thats about as much as u know, most missles use solid fuel
and you can put a throttle on a jet having it running at only 10% and then adjust it to 80% when you need to while a missle Always burns through it fuel at a 100% you cant stop it half way through to save on fuel as you can with a jet
then again i dont really know anything about this subject

Jet engines have been put on missiles since WW2.
>>32525323
You know what i take it back im thinking about rockets not missles

So a missile is not a projectile right? Sorry...
That said the design in the picture is probably fictional, such a ramjet would be very inefficient.
Also, at the size of a bullet the air is "thicker", I'm curious to know how the concept of a ramjet would work at this scale.

-Ground Control says "Throttle Up"

Am curious as to what would a step up from RAPs delivering (explosive) payloads aside from solving it with pure kinetic energy by railguns and HVPs. Ramjet-powered/assisted artillery shell is a long infant field. Not much info can be read vis-a-vis other ideas and topics.

Obviously it's a concept. It's the latest of any news I can find.

Rail guns could be badass but the problem is always the same: energy. At least a ramjet is economical and easily operable.
>>32527345
Power generation for a railgun isn't an issue. A current DDG can more than power a railgun while running all systems at peak performance. The issue is energy storage for releasing it at once.

>the problem is always the same: energy.
As stupid as it sounds, we don't master energy yet. Storage being the main issue.
