There's an estate auction with a lot of gun shit in it coming up on the 7th. I'm curious about two garands and a p38 I see on the listing but what's gotten my attention more so are boxes with AK and RPD parts. I can't tell if they have the full receiver in the case of the AKs, and I am not familiar enough with the RPD to tell.

Assuming it's all or almost all of the parts minus the FFL required receiver, while I know there's no telling what brand and such the guns are until I see it myself (preview of it friday so I'll do research then) is there any base MSRP you'd figure for either?

I know building an AK is a more complex process (I have no idea about the RPD but I assume the same), but if I can snag the parts boxes at a steal I figure why not.

I can see the underfolder, the pistol grip, what looks like a buttstock, the large..I know the term upper receiver is wrong for it but the AK barrel/front sight/gas port/sights/ectera. Since it seems to end abruptly with those two rivets it might be the receiver is broken.

Had a case tear in my WASR a few days ago. It was brass cased American Eagle ammo.

Auctions seem like they are a hidden gem. My step-father got my mom hooked on them and I got hooked on it in turn when it comes to guns. It depends on the auction and your luck but you can find good furniture for a pittance of what it'd cost new (let alone in old world quality), old cars if that's your jam, even just general neat knick knack shit for a dollar or two.

The time I saw them at the auction my folks go to it wasn't anything special - fudd stuff, 3 arisakas (2 with wood beaten to shit and back), lever actions. Oddly a Henry .22 I saw that I was hoping to snag literally went for MSRP new price. There was a Norinco AK I saw in a South Delaware auction but I only saw it online, don't know how much it went for. I've seen at least for previews online at auctionzip glocks, ARs, though it is mostly more fudd/milsurp stuff.

On a lark for you/florida anon I tried looking on auctionzip for Pensacola and Orlando but I didn't find anything so it might be this is more of a PA thing.

There are alot of places that have 3 piece sets of surplus Romanian furniture for $25-$30. My problem when getting a set was finding the upper handguard. I'm not sure why, but they seem to be way less common than the other pieces.

Just a big expensive order of 5250 rounds of WPA 5.45 and another half dozen books on the South African Border War.

My other big autistic /k/ related interest besides AK74s is the military history of white southern Africa over the past ~150 years (Boers a best) but instead of colecting gun and military related accessories from those conflicts I just buy too many books. Whenever people come to my house (rarely because lol little to no friends) they ask if I'm racist and if I have a positive opinion of apartheid, which I'm not and I don't I just have an interest in South African military history.

The Rhodieboos of /k/ are an embarrassing group though and it's hard to have nice conversations about anything South Africa without Rhodieboos coming along and shitting everything up.

tbqh I haven't found a book on AKs that I really really like. The Grim Reaper is probably the best all around but even that is lacking some of the detail I was hoping for and I ended up selling my copy simply because it lacked the autistic reference material I was hoping for.

It's strange, there are all kinds of fantastic reference books for all kinds of service rifles from various countries, all kinds of guns from the turn of the century, a bunch on other modern guns, but I just can't find one really great reference book for AKs. Everything I've learned about them has been from reading online and just digging around over the years, and it sucks that there isn't just a nice autistic reference book where you could just turn to page 216 to find the info you're looking for instead of having to dig through forum posts from 10 years ago or poorly translated manuals.
