Back in the day, caliber was the diameter of the grooves of the bore. Nowadays, we name rounds off the diameter of the case neck. So a .355" (9mm) projectile fits a case with .357-.36" OD and a barrel with .37-38" grooves

I'm pretty sure the SF was the only one that comes with the stock threaded barrel, picking it up for the same price as the gen 4 G21 was worth the money for me.
I also do have skeleton hands which you might figure as small from evidence that you don't like the SF.

.45 Super has the same external dimensions but uses 9mm pressures and gets 9mm velocities.

I'll say this for the fowty problem solva round: during the sand vagina panic you could actually find the stuff. 9mm lol nope .45? Not a chance. .40 and .357 sig all day every day. I suppose now that everyone is ditching the .40 and running back to the 9mm it'll be similar the next time there a panic of that scale. For that reason alone though it's worth owning at least one pistol chambered in .40 as a back up you can almost always find ammo on the shelves for in a pinch. Throw in a .357 sig barrel and 9mm barrel and any needed conversion parts recoil spring, ejector, mags etc etc and you're set.

I'd rather have more shots, especially if there's multiple attackers. The only benefit to .45 is if you MISS and you'll still have to wait 3-6 minutes for the attacker to bleed enough to go into shock, assuming he's in terrible health and his body can't clot a wound. Keep in mind the vast majority of people shot in a non vital area with a handgun will survive it.

Tl;dr hit dem vitals, if you miss try again, if you have a .45 you won't have enough to try again.

Everyone goes through their magnum phase when they first start shooting, I know I did. I can remember being horrified that a guy at a gun store would suggest I use a .44 instead of a .357mag. You have to let the kids buy these magnums, watch their 45deg muzzle flip and their excuses for shooting a gun with that kind of recoil, eventually they learn.

.45 has been through 2 world wars, these are real wars where thousands of soldiers meet on the battlefield and fight for months on end.
