So, my C39v2 broke after 3000 rounds, now I'm out to find a new AK to replace it, but as a poorfag college student, I need to keep it to 700 or less. What would /k/ recommend. Pic semi related.

Anything from IO Inc. is good.

Way to maximize the value of your dollar by buying an inferior product, just get another century made gun dummy
>>

DDi is good
>>
>>32501491
>>32501503

I've watched those fail horribly on AK operators union. No.

>>32501498

I paid $200 for it and got 3000rds out of it. While I definitely won't buy another century again for full price, for $200 I can't complain.
>>
wasr, dummy
>>
>>32501547
You literally shot down your options, unless you want to buy used.
>>
>>32501547
Wasr.
Also how did your c39 break?
>>
>>32501589
I got the one with magpul furniture. After putting the 3k rounds through it the screw worked itself loose and dropped the nut in the reciever. Didnt notice as the stock was still secure. Pulled the trigger, bent the hammer spring and pin retention spring. Ordered new parts to fix it, but kinda want to get out of the rifle as some of the internals also have some excessive wear.

If you don't already have one consider an AR

For american AK maybe, you just have to buy an SLR or a Vepr.

Try to find an m70. Its got the grenade launching sights. Thing is built like a tank. I'm about a thousand rounds in and it just is starting to really be broken in

Nothing. If you want a good AK be prepared to drop $1000 these days.
>>
>>32501480
Why are AK's so expensive? I thought in Lord of War it was cheaper to buy real AK's than prop AK's now they're pricey as fuck. No way ragheads would buy those for their shitty soldiers for the prices they are now.

Are they cheaper in the middle east or something?
>>
>>32501935
Because they aren't cheap to make, at least not for small manufacturers. That's why all the cheap ones relied on parts kits. But those no longer exist in quantity.

See, I too am a broke college boy. I too wanted an AK, anf I too told myself that I wouldn't spend more than $700 at that stupid gunshow on one.

But then I drove home with a $1000 SLR because 5.45 memes.

Life is funny like that sometimes.

Yugo N-PAP.

>>32501656
Debatable.
It's usually passable but it's not as good as a WASR.

>>32501771
Vepr is very good.
>>
>>32502048
Depends on the weather. Generally they aren't bad and provide a decent cheekweld. I prefer the full stock
>>
>>32502056
VEPR is great rifle but I would never own one in 545 or 762x39.
>>
>>32502064
Why?
>>
>>32502077
It's too heavy. While the weight will reduce recoil you need to ask yourself if you're willing to carry that around for however long. I'd rather carry extra ammo or water in place of added weight for little benefit in return. An SLR is lighter and just as accurate.

Buy a Vepr from Atlantic and slowly upgrade it over time with a new stock, magwell conversion, and handguards. Or just save for longer and get a Vepr FM AK47-11.

they are filming that in a foreign country theres no need to import that shit to america then pay hundreds rebuilding to make them legal.
>>
>>32501964
I've got 3. I'm good on AR's for now.
>>
>>32502174
Weight isnt much of an issue. My AR I use for ranch work weighs 11.7 lbs loaded and I hike a few miles at a time with that and 8 mags.
>>
Also, any of you use the lee armory battlefield pick up or high standard from Atlantic Firearms? They any good for the roughly $700?
>>
WASR or Yugo M70

Do NOT buy an american made AK, including DDI, IO, Century RAS et. all. They will blow up or otherwise fail.

DDI parts kit guns and PSAK47 is gtg though
>>
>>32504843
IO and RAS will maybe explode, maybe
the only real flaw with the DDI's is the extractors, which may or may not already be fixed

You could find some NPAPS and OPAPS in the $600 range.
>>
Zastava N-PAP is probably the best for your money.

They're a cut above WASRs and cost about the same, as long as you don't mind your stock being Yugo-pattern and it being a bit heavier. Yugo side rails are compatible with both SVD and AK style optics - though AK optics mount a bit higher and further back than they would on a Russian-style rail. There's a company out there that makes side mount rails specifically for the Yugos, so that's a non-issue if you prefer that.

Personally, I prefer them to Bulgarian Arsenals in terms of build quality - though the NPAP's side rail and stock quirks make it ultimately second to the Arsenal.

Saiga is still the standard to beat, though - so maybe you could wait a few months and see what Pres Trump does with the Executive Orders banning Russian imports.

Are we back in 2008? That was not a bad price considering what they go for new. I take it it was used?

Try a go / no go gage, the AK operator guys killed theirs

If it was used 3000 + rnds and they only "wear" is
>>32508079
>>32508091

Then it's really not fucked there annon. The tail wear doesn't look too disastrous, neither does the bolt,

If it/s really bugging you just get a surplus one from apex should just drop in

Other than that I'm guessing a wasr, or save you money and go for a Polish, or Arsenal
>>
>>32508209
I traded one of my grandpa's old rifles for it. He paid $200 for it back when he got it and it was worth like 900 now. I had duplicates of it so I don't feel that bad about it. As for wear, yeah it kinda bothers me, but I mean if its not gonna kill the rifle, I'll keep it going.

Why are you trying to kill OP?
>>

>Why are AK's so expensive?

Bush Senior's 1989 import ban and Clinton's anti arms trade deal with Russia.

If it weren't for those two little pieces of policy a genuine Izhmash AKM (minus auto sear) would probably be like $399.

Daily reminder that the NRA has never made even a single cursory attempt to get rid of these import bans.

I visited their shop in Wisconsin, I was told that's where they do most of their builds.. Am still new to the ak world. But I'm always cautious of us made aks. Some shady business practices, (shop guns being sold in private sales- back and forth transfer of products between company ownership and personal collection.) An uber bubba job done through the shop on a mosin for kicks.. Broke my heart, iirc a 1928 tula. Kept trying to sell it for $1000+.

<2 years ago locals who had purchased the aks from lee started having problems, with the product and business making it right, it all converged into Facebook sperging and name calling..

Tl;dr I'm never buying one, but ymmv
>>
How come nobody seems to be able to make an inexpensive, quality AK like the Russians did?

Hey guys, trying to buy an ak here.

My budget is up to 1600. I've seen arsenal saiga recommended. Have import restrictions made new Russian made guns impossible? Is buying used from a gun show or private seller a seller a good idea?

I want a former over function gun that'll last me a lifetime with thousands of rounds through it.

Can you give me recommendations?
