I need help: my 229 had multiple repeated feed issues when dropping the slide with one of the mags it came with. Ammo was cheap chech .40s&w but fed fine with the other mag.

Should I send it it and get the feed ramp polished? a new mag? this could get me killed, it's my carry and I want to be able to reload without a class 2 f2f.

I'd try trading the mag spring from the good mag into the bad. That might help for shipping only the mag back to Sig customer service. if it starts to feed fine. Could also be the recoil spring or feed ramp,but it sounds like a bad mag spring.

black painted portion should be at the muzzle end. the issue with that spring would be due to wear and tear making the spring weak.

I had this issue with a p83 but it was only the first hollow point on 2 mags putting it into battery. Solution was polishing the feed ramp or loading the last round ball ammo. Since poland army and police where using ball ammo there was no reason to inspect the ramp to feed hollow points at the factory.

I would compare all the rounds that you have jammed this way to length of a factory fresh round. They are prob. shorter since the bullet is jammed deeper into the case. You might want to toss them due to seating depth increasing pressure and feeding reliability. I shot them at the range since my gun handled the pressure and i live on the edge.
