She turns 100 today!

>weapons that are around 70-100 years old
>they still function perfectly and will continue to function for a long-ass time
>repairs/etc will keep them running even longer
If only everything was made as durable as milsurp rifles. Imagine having cars and fridges that didn't need to be replaced every 5 years.

consume. consume. consume.
Happy Birthday!
Both 103 next year.
All three 100 years old or about to be.

Don't start that shit or chan master will start putting party hats on everything.
>>32493468
happy birthday, mosin
>>32493468
Hello sonny.
>>32493468
My Remington made Mosin just turned 100 this last year. Has all the great aspects of Mosins, without the small problem of being made by drunken old cripples, stocked with furniture made from a tree felled by a stray arty round, and varnished with a shellac made of vodka, sadness, and Olga's toenails.
Now that I think about it, that makes me want a generic Izzy.
>anyone have the greentext I was referencing above?
>>32493500
Considering those are continuous use items and Firearms generally aren't, most things are more durable than firearms. Hell, you'd have to search for quite some time to find a gun that has 100k rounds through it. A car with 100k miles? They're all over the place, and most still have another 200k left before they're useless.
mines a little rough but I may think of refurbishing her this year
>>32493500
To be fair, modern trucks still last a long fucking time even with all the stupid fucking electronics they put in them.
My dad's '08 King Ranch has nearly 350k on it and has yet to have an issue. He's getting the transmission rebuilt soon, but 350k miles on an automatic tranny is quite a bit.
116 years young tomorrow.

117*

I'm curious to see what happens to a car that's been sitting in a crate covered in grease for 70 years.

One word can sum up your question:
Profit.
>>32495006
weatherstripping, tires, gaskets, and hoses crack and crumble.
fuel has long since gone bad
although there are a few companys that will take in your car into a climate controlled warehouse and keep the car maintained over the months/years you have it stored.
its an assload of money though
>>32493468
Wut gun?
>>32495999
US M1917. Not OP BTW.

Rubber that isn't exposed to heat, cold, or UV radiation should be fine. You don't store a car with fluids.
>>32494396
Electronics are more reliable than mechanics, stupid. 350k is nothing, but I'm not surprised a 68RFE is a piece of shit.

Thanks m8

I have a few Nuggets but my 1942 Izzy is definitely my favorite. I love how the serial number on the receiver starts out in a straight line but gets completely fucked towards the end, it's like whoever was working on it wanted to be super-precise at the beginning but stopped giving a fuck halfway through
also, how do you not have at least one Izzy by now?
>>32493468
Technically she doesn't turn 100 till April
>>32497537
Can beat that by about 10 years.
Also have an original Winchester 1873 somewhere. Dug it up with a plow on a homestead site.
>>32493468
110 as of an hour ago. Her younger sister turned 107. My girls are growing up so fast. ;_;
>>32493500
The refrigerator I had in my first house was the GE kid killer fridge my grandmother bought when she was pregnant with my mother.

my oldest gun is turning 151 this year. I still shoot it too :-)
