What's the best way to spend $150 on innawoods gear?
>>
>>32493108
a pair if BDUs , and a chest rig.
>>
>>32493108
a hatchet, a practical knife (no rambo shit, mora are cheap and solid), turbo flame and a sleeping bag

That is pretty much all you need
>>
>>32493131
Maybe if you buy tru-spec bdu and chicom/condor chest rig but why throw away $150? That money will barely break into the market for chest rigs. A better use would be a good sturdy backpack or pair of boots. Then you can at least have something that will actually be useful to get innawoods so you can start learning innawoods skills.
>>
>>32493108

Good backpack , boots , anything slept over to start filling the backpack with essential's ; firemaking , first aid , water purification , canteen with metal bottle , metal mess kit , food ( dried , dehydrated or MRE ) , knife , rope , tarp/trashbag , space blanket.

also forgot to say
don't buy backpacks/apparel/boots/chest rigs like >>32493131 said,

UNLESS you got a serious amount of money (500 to 1000 dollars)
Because here's the rule: any gear that costs less than 100 dollars is garbage.

>>32493243
Also this, forgot about the rope, tarp and water purification sets, good advice
>>
Tbh if you want to prep for the fall, don't get crazy tactical gear. You want to blend in. Civvie clothes will rule
>>
>>32493296
This

this is why Delta and Seals don't wear camo anymore, just single color green, it works in both forest and urban no problem

my list:

jansport bag
cold steel hatchet
mora
big tin can for pot
lighter, flashlight, walmart sharpening stone
two wool blankets/ decent sleeping bag on sale
blow the rest on tampax and comic books
>>
>>32494455
niqqa glowsticks are like half a dollar each stick, they make more glow than a fire and you can put them anywhere, throw them around in your camp and you won't have to turn on your flashlight everytime you gotta look at something

they're also fun

Ontario 498 for 40 bucks. A good fixed blade knife will serve you a good ways innawoods. Though haters will argue and claim a 300$ folding knife is better.

surplus is cheap as shit, you could probably get a BDU set and a Chicom/ALICE rig and still have plenty of money left over to put towards a bag or boots.

>That money will barely break into the market for chest rigs
a Chicom rig will almost always suffice unless you have weirdly-shaped magazines to carry, there's really no reason for you to spend more than $15 on a chest rig in this day and age

I'm gonna be in for a few weeks clearing woods, just before things start growing again in the spring. I already have good forestry tools, but there are big critters and various minorities to worry about.
My plan is to make a small base camp for myself around a tent or sturdy structure I can construct. This would include a spiked earthworks wall with a ditch, and a bridge that I use as part of the wall at night.
This would be at the center of the woods I need to clear, I'd then set up various satellite camps as need be (the poncho tent comes in handy here).
Hunting some food would be nice, but it's not necessary.
