TWI are cunts. it took them nearly half a year after launch to make the game run properly. they also promised regular, free content updates with more vehicles and weapons. what have they released since launch, two vehicles and and two guns nearly 3 years after release?

i played RO1 on and off for years. i played RO2, even though the core game was better, for less than a year due to the lack of content. you can play the same maps over and over only for so long. re-releasing the worst map from RO1 before even adding transport carriers was just a cherry on top of already a huge pile of fuck ups.

Same, aside from witcher 2 and 3 that I picked up during the christmas sale on steam I haven't played much regularly since I found out that I have epilepsy by playing pokemon sapphire for about a day straight when it first came out. Had to change the batteries in my gba like 3 times that day, great day up till that point. Had an Atari 2600 when I was a kid (yes, I'm dating myself). Had a game called The Amazing Spiderman. Simple game. Web up a building, get past the Green Goblin, get to the roof. Each level getting harder as you go.

Well,my copy was glitched, and I was too young to know it. On the first level, you'd kill the Goblin, climb, climb, climb, hit the Goblin again. Kill him, climb, climb, climb...there's That damn Goblin again. Kill, climb, climb, climb, kill...you get the point. There was no end to the very first level. As stated before, I was too young to realize there was a glitch, and I was determined to get to the second level. I know I played that game for at least 24 straight hours, all while getting madder and madder. It finally pissed me off so bad that I never wanted to see another video game again.

Fast forward a few years, and Nintendo came out. Mom and dad bought us one, for some ungodly reason. Well...It was going good. I was playing on it a bit. Then I got a game called Marble Madness. There was a level on it, that try as I may, I just could not get past. The time would always run out. The more I played, the more I thought about Spiderman. I put my theory to the test. A friend had the same game. I went to his house and played his. No problems. Got past the level. He went to my house and played mine. Got stuck on the same level. That made me say fuck gaming. I've maybe played a hand full of games since.

I've been playing a lot of Insurgency and recently went back to load up RO2 to give it a whirl and I remembered why I totally dropped it

Insurgency is so smooth. It runs quickly, there's plenty of servers, and the games are the right length.

RO2 on the other hand....

>this happens for a few more lives until the game figures itself out and runs smoother for the rest of the game

It's just not ideal. I used to love RO2, I really did, but after being away for a few years it's just not really worth getting back into. The community can be shitty at times, and now pretty much every server is playing the Rising Sun maps, which I don't like as much.

I play some insurgency, my only problem is that there's only one server with decent ping and a 16 player cap, and even then it's dead half the time. I can't stomach the 32 player servers. Too goddamned chaotic and every other server seems to think they need the max amount of players possible.

I'll wait until we get a direct neural interface so I don't have to wait several fractions of a second just to look around; I hate waiting for the system to calculate where i'm supposedly looking with increasing accuracy (but not 100 percent accuracy like a joystick or a mouse) each fraction of a second.

Misery is literally the best mod once you get your head around how to not be a brokedick loner trying to feed his rusty makarov.

once you understand that the mod isnt "go out and wander around the zone for 3 days without returning to safety" and is more focused on leaving safe zones for specific missions and returning, it's much more fun. the game will ruin you if you try to play it like vanilla where you can run around indefinitely

It's what I plan to do in the near future, because turning a cruddy old beater or hacked up milsurp into something beautiful is a really calming way to spend time.

Has/does anyone here ever played DayZ Origins Mod?

It's probably the one 'DayZ'-type game I've put the most hours into, because my friends and I somehow found just the right balance of being operator as fuck and goofing off for fun.

Basically dead now thanks to some drama, but the style of it all gave me some real Garry's mod vibes - most of the content was not really polished, and a lot of it felt thrown together from different games that shouldn't quite mesh, but somehow it became a strangely fun and addictive way to waste time.

The map always felt bigger than Chernarus, especially after the expansion, and although getting a working car was always a challenge, it wasn't so hard as to make it really annoying, which meant traveling as a group and moving to firefights quickly was usually possible.

I'll miss it, but I have so many fond memories of this mod.

I do know how you feel though, reading and gaming were always passions of mine, but both have felt so hollow lately and its almost like im spinning the gears wasting my time rather than having fun.

Huh neat, I never noticed that, I believe it was the early version of the MXM. That screenshot was taken back in 2013 when ArmA 3 was only just out. I think they changed the MXM to 6.5 so the Mk18 ABR had a use.

misery is difficult in the sense that most of it you aren't able to prepare for. the AI can see you pretty much regardless of how dark or stealthy you are, all the while they are impossible to see when they aren't shooting at you, and when they're shooting at you they're perfectly accurate. you spend a majority of your time savescumming in that mod even when you're trying to be cautious.

Just reinstalled and played through it. The only character I ever used was the KNOOOIF guy. he was OP as fuck, everyone else was weak. My favorite mission was the one on the island with the crazy dude with the trumpet who you could use to distract the guards.

They're actually aren't any zombies or any other shit like that, it's all either other players or ai bandits. It also does not really emphasize the survival part of it as much as other games like it. The devs have said it's going to mainly just be a realistic shooter with a couple of survival elements, despite it taking place during a shtf situation. The real reason most people here are excited for it is the weapon modding, which is what makes me personally want it the most, pic related.

Sadly, it feels wasted (to me) on a shitty meme genre that is "survival" aka autistic murderhobos that call you a faggot for stealing an empty soup can they wanted.

Maybe it'll be cool. Maybe it'll do a better job than these other games in the genre.

I know, but compared to a game like dayz, there really is not as many things you have to worry about for survival. I don't know everything about it so far but it feels like eating, drinking and possibly a couple of other things are really the most you will probably have to do, compared to a game like dayz where you have to take 5 different precautions just so you don't freeze to death.

I'm playing the first STALKER because and man is it clunky as shit even with the complete mod. Just game structure wise, tasks are vague as fuck and on timers and spread waaaay the fuck around, not to mention i dont know which are most important.
