Forgive me if I am misunderstanding the illegal immigration situation in the US, but what would keep the Mexicans from digging under the border and whatever tanks or walls there are on it, as I am led to understand they already do?
That is not to say that more frequent patrols wouldn't deal with some part of the problem, but surely a belt of ground-penetrating radar stations to discover the tunnel tacos would accomplish more, create more jobs by employing contractors from the civillian sector, and maybe have a lot of cool pictures of dudes in camouflage arresting brown people to appeal to the masses and convince them the program is working to show for it?

Because Military Operations on U.S soil, unless authorized by the State Department and Congress, as well as a Marshall Law enacted, or for training purposes, cannot happen. Digging a tunnel of that size isn't as easy as using a shovel. It's a multi million dollar project. ISIS and other muslim terrorist organizations have to spend millions in order to tunnel into Israel.

Sticking them in concentration camps in other countries like the Australians do is a brilliant solution.
These countermeasures to immigration must then be broadcast to inform of them - Again, Australia's "you will not make Australia home" is good, and the Norwegian Department of Justice have reached far by warning illegal immigrants and asylum seekers that they will be removed by force if necessary.
Then the legal process for getting them out of the country must be made as efficient and streamlined as possible.

A long way to go, no doubt, but a president who has addressed the problem is a good start.
