Leopard 3 predictions/ wishes?
I think they should just copy the Armata platform down to the very paint colour but put the crew capsule in the back of the tank and the engine up front.
>>32484499
>I think
well maybe you should not
>>32484499
130mm gun is a given, some sort of APS system as well as multispectral camonets are expectable as well.
>maybe
maybe go fuck yourself
>>32484545
multispectral camonet is the coolest thing I've heard all week. would be awesome if they were deployed robotically, like a convertible
>>32484577
>would be awesome if they were deployed robotically, like a convertible
Why bother when you've got troops around to do the work?
The engine in the front would be worse though
>>32484499
>Having engine instead of glacis
Yid detected.
>>32484701
That's a nice pop-up target you have there... sure would be a shame if somebody were to ...
shell it!
>>32484499
GIAT Nexter and Krauss-Maffei have joined efforts for their next MBT, so expect it to be a lot closer to the Leclerc.
>>32484777
Not instead of a glacis, but in addition to. Crew survivability to appeal to decadent westerners.
>>32484794
is that a MLRS? Launch tubes/barrels seem really long in comparison to others I've seen.
>>32484499
Make it-or-break it features:
>APS
>laser illuminator detection
>incoming missile tracking
>high traverse/elevation 50 cal
>OTH ATGMs with drones on board
>cannister rounds
>low profile
>did I mention APS?
Basically, copy Leclerc (the new king of tanks) and add features.
>>32484512
Newly promoted Lt. detected.
>>32484577
What's special about multispectral camonet? A regular camonet blocks IR as well as long as it doesn't touch the object being concealed
>>32484845
>50 cal
>German tank post Marshall plan.
>APS
>Not already a given for anything designed past yesterday.
>Canister round
>M1028 clone and you're done.
Tank is fine.
>>32484827
>Not instead of a glacis, but in addition to.
If your goal is IFV tier armour, then sure.
>>32484835
300mm mlrs for launching drones
>>32484928
>50 cal
>German tank post Marshall plan.
The turret speeds on modern tanks are shit. They need to be able to track planes and munitions. Now that I think about it, put a minigun on it. Would say 30mm, but that belongs coupled to the main gun, which will never be fast enough.
>APS
>Not already a given for anything designed past yesterday.
None of it is proven. Merkavas got walked in Lebanon. We have basically never seen Russian APS in practice. US is all experimental, etc.
>>32484969
lol Lebanon. lol "mobility kill". lol pigfat.
>>32484920
good point, I was just impressed by the name.
>>32485002
>Merkavas got walked in Lebanon.
Merkavas didn't have APS in Lebanon. Trophy entered service in 2010, and had great performance in Gaza 2 years ago.
>>32484970
seriously? neat-o
>>32484499
>Armata
Producing tech-heavy equipment with kind of red tape Russians have is retarded idea. Might aswell go back to using high-low mix T-80s and T-72s
>>32485332
Fuck of shill
>>32485347
Suck a big one commie loving slavboo.
>>32484499
Design :
>unmanned turret
>six road wheel stations
Firepower :
>Rh-130 L51 smoothbore gun
>coaxially mounted 20 mm autocannon using cased telescoped ammunition
Mobility :
>electric transmission
>adiabatic diesel engine
>active hydropneumatic suspensions
>decoupled running gear
Protection :
>APS
>modular composite armor
>multi-spectral camouflage
>anti-reflection coating
>exhaust muffler
pic semi-related
>>32485601
>No quad tracks
>No VLS
>No mortar
>No drones
>No laser
>No decoys
>>32484845
>Leclerc king of tanks
>Penetrated through the frontal upper glacis by Russian ATGM
>>32485359
>slavboo
Nice word you know there pork chop.
>>32484499
>Leopard 3 predictions/ wishes?
My only real wish is that the current german defense minister Ursula von der Leyen doesnt have any say in this topic, it would just be one big fuck up otherwise.
>>32484545
Why not go with 140mm right off the bat? That was already an viable option for the Leo 2 if the cold war had gone on any longer. A 140mm L/64 smoothbore, that would be nice. Yes. With autoloader. And both active and passive missile defense systems ofc. Reduce the front armor a little, it's already overkill. Instead put it on the sides or alternatively save weight.
>>32488483
why not dump the cannon and just add a NLOS kinetic kill missile
Thats what I would do
>>32484845
I would put single remote controlled 7.62mm and weapon station with single 50cal and 40mm grenade launcher on the roof. And use more APS pls.
>>32484499
With the way Rheinmetall's been going on their tank guns, I think pic related will be more accurate.
>>32485002
>The turret speeds on modern tanks are shit. They need to be able to track planes and munitions
Well, luckily the remote controlled gun stations on turret roofs and basically all modern APS systems are rotary on their own and are not dependent on the direction the turret and main gun are pointing.
>Now that I think about it, put a minigun on it. Would say 30mm
Sure, if you want to double the tank in height. I would not go higher than a single 20mm machine cannon or 50cal machine guns.
>>32484499
130 mm gun, auto-loader, APS better armor package (primary armor protected by replaceable era sheets or stand off distance plates with ERA sleeves before main armor package to stop double pentration , possibly a universal combat platform system idea. air portable? automatic targeting slaved system (could be programmed to ID given target like a t-72 t-90 silhouette and prioritize a t-90 over a bmp 3 )
>>32488483
This
With option on going 150mm. Would be a big fuck you into the direction of the Armata.
>>32485601
Dam, that thing looks sexy. I love band loaders, they basically enable belt fed tank guns. And I also would go with a 140mm.
>>32488551
You play too much WoT. Me too btw.
>>32488499
I think in the realms of kinetic ammunition the gun will always be superior to missiles. Speed is the key, and guns just reach higher speeds so much more easily than missiles.
>>32488598
>130mm
>not 140mm
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Also, I guess air portable is sadly not an option considering the Leo 3 MBT would prob weigh at least 60 tons.
>>32488676
>and guns just reach higher speeds so much more easily than missiles.
Other way around
Cannons have upper speed limits that are easily broken by missiles
Much easier to scale up the energy in a missile than in a cannon.
Less stress on the firing vehicle too
Only reason to stick with cannons is cost, doctrine, and KE missiles are wildly overkill
>>32485002
.50 cal doesn't do shit tp air because its all armored for it.
>>32488551
