Looking to build an A2 20" HBar, have a complete lower with A2 Buttstock. Now I just need to either buy or build the upper.

Should I go for an upper with a built in A2 Handguard or should I go with a flat top with detachable A2 Handguard?

This is my first AR-15 build, and I figured I'd go for that M16A2 look.

pls help.

so i just replaced my gas rings. i noticed one was worn down and missing a chunk. I have used this bcm carrier since i bought the rifle and it has 3000+ rounds through it.

how important are gas rings?

how hard should it be to put the bolt back into the carrier with new gas rings? i know its supposed to be able to stand up on the bolt face and not collapse. But it feels like its even harder then that.

I think people don't get that you can lock the bolt back without removing your shooting hand from the grip if you're right handed, and you don't have to do a funky exaggerated magwell grip if you're left handed.
I like mine.

I prefer the TA01 for its BDC, it feels more precise to me. But the down side to it is that its use of the Bindon aiming concept can be hard/near impossible in normal lighting. Thats where the TA31 is great. Its a nice do all optic that you can use at longer ranges and close in. It just doesnt feel as precise to me. Both are solid options that wont let you down.

>>32467037
Enjoy it man

>>32467307
Well for this I prefer it on top of the acog simply because for me its easier to move my head up and look through the rifle than cant the rifle. How ever in short ranges they height over bore of the rmr is noticable. Thats where the canted rmr is better. If yiu had no experience in how they felt try and pick up an airshit one and see which one you like more. Then if yiu like it spend the money on a real one or dont.

Pretty important. Make sure the gaps aren't all lined up when you install the new one(s).

Yes it's going to be unusually hard to slide the bolt in and out of the carrier with new rings. Shoot it a bit and they will wear down, it should be smoother after 50-100 rounds.

Oh, and also the concept really only works as a 12+ inch carbine rail. A 15" midlength cutout would work, but would look a bit off, and a 18" rifle cutout would just be silly, not to mention rather heavy.
>>
>>32468167
I've actually go a similar setup, aside from maybe moving the mag I couldn't think of anything better. Is your upper upside down because of an optic? Right now I'm trying to decide whether I should make an optic cutout in my bottom foam or just cutout an inch from half the bottom layer and have the whole upper lower in the box
>>
>>32468935
Yes? The PMAG was originally designed to completely fill a Colt (in-spec by definition) magwell. Tolerances mean that, as a result, PMAGs sometimes fail to drop free from in-spec magwells. If a specific magwell reliably drops PMAGs, then it's on the loose side of spec, at best.

So wait, are Andersons in spec and Gucci? Because my PMAGs don't always drop free from my pistol lower.

I like this setup. I'm trying to 9 fit two ARs in one of my long cases. I need to keep playing with it.

5/10. It's okay. The DD furniture is kinda lame.

My favorite part of your autism is how you claim your lowers are all flawless, but a pmag that will drop free in one wont in another.

Which will only happen if your lowers vary.

Mags are just there because they happen to fit in that space. I can use it for straps or whatever else. And yes it's upside down due to optic.

Question for you guys with the uber expensive rifles with all the gucci shit. Why? Maybe Im just a poorfag but in my (admittedly limited in comparison to some of you autists) experience most of these modification do jack shit and high end thousand dollar ARs have only marginal benefits. Not that Im judging what a grown man does with his money I would just like to understand why?
