How is a handgun caliber capable of rifle velocities a "meme"? Sounds pretty useful. Plus the flexibility of being able to shoot .45 Colt and .454 Casull when the situation warrants is a huge bonus.

Not in the least, the 460 S&W reminds me a lot of the SuperMagnums of the 1970's. Unlike the 500 it can use far cheaper 45LC for plinking and practice and also gives you the ability to use the 454 Casull. If anything the 500 S&W is the real clownshoes cartridge due to its high cost, excessive recoil and no real alternate cartridges.

I thought a requisite of being a "meme gun/caliber" was being more popular than its abilities would merit? Like, say, .300BLK - good for suppressed SBR's, but everyone seems to want it because "muh operator" despite using it in a non-NFA AR that's lucky to be fired five times a year, probably from a bench at a target 25yds away.

Or are we just using the word for anything we don't like, now? Because .460S&W, whether it's shit or amazing, is nowhere near popular enough to be considered a meme.

Honestly done even pay attention to what folks call stuff on here meme or otherwise if ive had good experience with it or there are mountains of evidence showing something as being good I use it or suggest it to others.
