Came here to post M4-72, but keep in mind the test was for straight back recoil. Did not account for rise.

Unless you mean most effective at making fireballs or noise, there are other choices for loud.

Above all else, recoil is subjective. How you feel it is different than someone else.

Though I can say, having shot a 16" carbine gas AR with an M4-72, it doesn't rise much.
Just feels like a violent jiggle, if anything
