This chick definitely lodged a squib in her barrel before it blew up. The sound is shit, but yiu can see she pulls the trigger and seems to get a "jam", probably there was a small pop that didn't get recorded. If you know a round chambered, and you know the primer was hit, point the gun downrange for 30 second or a minute or so, eject the shell, if it's spent then check your bore.

I knew bolt action rifles could banana-peel when they blew up due to a barrel obstruction, but I never thought about why

Well the split usually starts from the grooves but it doesn't follow the rifling. Split follows the grain structure, which is oriented very much lengthwise in cold hammer forged steel. Banana peeling is much more desirable than turning into shrapnel.

It's not a squib because it had slam fired a few times up to that point and when I shot it did boom BOOM and I didn't have to manually cycle it or anything

it ripped the locking lugs off the bolt completely and it put an 1/8" impression where it slammed in the back of the receiver
