Hello /k/omrades! This is my great, great, great uncles gun. I got it for Christmas and I don't know a lot about it. If anyone knows anything about it any input is appreciated.
And how would you properly store this and keep it from rusting any worse?
Get a pelican or clone of a pelican hardcase, and purchase some good sized bags of dessicant to remove moisture. Also, oil the gun well with good lube, avoid froglube.

should i try to keep any lube off of the wood or does it matter?

interesting piece, any way to get better pictures of the markings on the side, or any markings still visible on the revolver that will help with ID.

depends on the type of lube, dragon dildo cum lube would not be your best choice for it

this ones on the other side of the gun

if you use regular gun oil or clp it should not negatively affect the wood.

It's a Kerr's Patent Revolver. Designed by James Kerr, produced in London for a short amount of years, and used by confederate calvalrymen primarily.

Think i should get it refurbished (get the rust off of it) or should i leave it like it is?

not OP, but that's fuckin neato

Is it rust or a patina? To be on the safe side I'd say keep it as is.

I wouldn't refurbish it if you are just gonna keep it as an heirloom. Refurbishing it will make it lose most of its collectors value, and I've seen these go for well above 5 grand. But if you plan on shooting it and just having some fun with it like the good ol dixies that used it 150 years ago, I don't see why you wouldnt refurbish. It depends on what you plan for it.
