The V-1 was actually more cost-effective than strategic bombing, and that was despite the fact that it didn't see combat until the southern British defenses were upgraded with radar-aimed AAA (which subsequently shot down most of the V-1s, and yet they still had a huge impact).

If the V-1 had been around for the BoB, it would have been very hard to stop, and the Luftwaffe might have been allowed to keep hitting the RAF, instead.
