Lets hear your ND stories.

Pic related is my first. Straight through my 4k monitor with my 300WM. forgot to unload it after a hunting.

.... yep. "dry" fired through me $800 korean 60hz monitor.

Please Laugh at me

Happened a few months ago.

i had a runaway gun with my 249
started shooting and my glovetip got stuck under the trigger between the triggerguard

had about 50 NDs in a row full auto, good thing range was hot or i would probably be in fort leavenworth for manslaughter
>>
Both of my NDs occurred when I was pointing my guns down range.

One was while I was reloading my LH9 and fucking around with it as forgot I had one in the chamber still, and the other with my ithaca 37, in while I was trying to shoot trap with it upside down.
>>
>>32462051
Had a hang fire in my 1897 once, ammo from the 70's. Pulled the trigger, and nothing happened, pointed it down towards the ground to release the slide. Went off into dirt. It was the first time shooting the thing and I didn't realize the slide would come back with the hammer down. I was dumb.
>>
I had an AD with my uncles target .22lr.
Someone had done some messed up trigger work on it and as I was closing the bolt, the firing pin shot forward. Luckly it was pointed down range but that thing is dangerous.
He didnt seem to think so and thought the gun going off just by closing the bolt was a feature.

All the sperging about NDs are autistic no guns.

You can't call yourself a real gun owner until you've shot a hole through your vehicles floor while hunting.
>>
If you're testing your feed and shit you should be unloading and putting in snap-caps thereby forcing you to secure the firearm anyway.

None of these scenarios sound like anything but a retard acting like a retard and causing retard things to happen.

>>
>>32463491
Yeah, that's what I mean, and of course when it gets mentioned, someone doubles down on it.

I work in a regulated field, and when things go wrong, negligently or not, there's a very real chance people could die. Not only from adulterated product, but also from product not reaching them in a timely manner (due to fuckups that lead to the product being thrown out). Incidents get documented and usually publicized so other people can learn from them. "kill urself" creates an environment where people won't talk about what can go wrong, to everyone's detriment.

That and I really enjoy reading about people fucking up.

I dunno, my first gun was a 10GA that I literally took shooting twice. I've put maybe 100 rounds through it in six years.

Absolutely there is. AD and ND are similar, with AD also encompassing issues with the firearm. For example a firearm can go off due to a malfunction of some component and the firearm discharges. This would be an AD. An ND is where the user displays some level of ignorance when practicing firearm safety rules. In any case if you have an ND under any condition you're a fucking idiot and don't have the responsibility to own a gun.

OP here

>Incidents get documented and usually publicized so other people can learn from them. "kill urself" creates an environment where people won't talk about what can go wrong, to everyone's detriment.

It's critically important to foster an environment where people can share their mistakes with everyone so we can all learn from them. People fuck up and accidents happen. I completely deserve all the flak you guys can throw at me. I am sharing this to specifically remind you guys to stay vigilant and follow all four rules without exception. I am very lucky that the only thing harmed was a fancy monitor.

Luckily it happened in the basement and the bullet pulverized a cinder block and went straight into the dirt but you better believe that I understand the gravity of the incident and I thank god every time I see that hole in the wall nobody was hurt.

You're correct. It is still pretty much in a class of its own.

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4065UC-Resolution-Speakers-DisplayPort/dp/B00SCX78JS

I have this one now:

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4350UC-43-Inch-IPS-LED-Monitor/dp/B01E18XRY2

it's much nicer.

I mostly got it for the screen real estate. but games are fucking fantastic. On any 4k monitor that is smaller than 40" you need to use display scaling in order to be able to read anything. When you scale the display you negate the benefit of having more real estate. 43" is just about perfect. ideally it would also have gsync and 144hz but my titan x can barely push 60hz in most games at 4k anyhow.

Clean your bolt. When you're done shake it like it's your meat. Firing pin bounces back and forth you're fine. If it doesn't clean it again. Or get return spring, they're only a couple bucks. I've definitely had mine slam fire on me back before I knew this could be a thing.

Dumb buddy who didn't keep his SKS clean had his shoot off three in a row when he released the bolt at the range. his hand wasn't even on the trigger.

Cop who was at the range came over and inspected the gun because he thought he was shooting an illegally modified automatic weapon.

No, by autism standards apparently you should kill yourself.

This is correct. You can get TVs with 120hz native panels though. Some of them have reasonable response rates if you configure them right. Only real issue is you'll have to use HDMI 2.0/2.1 or whatever instead of DP.

>>32465773

>>32467215
kinda. TVs tend to have absolute shit response times and input lag making them shitty for games. Many have a "game mode" but then the image quality looks terrible and often drops from 4:4:4 chroma to 4:2:1 in 4k at 60hz.

This monitor pushes 4k at 60hz in full 4:4:4 chroma mode with about 23ms input latency.

degrease, with special emphasis on making sure the firing pin channel is clear before you reassemble your rifle, then function test with a fresh snap cap and observe to see if the firing pin has struck the primer area harder than a free floating firing pin normally would.

If you have any doubt, go into more detailed checks on the mechanical operation of the rifle.

Quick question: after you fire one round from a semi-automatic gun, are you supposed to remove it from the trigger, then put it back on for your follow-up shot?

I went to the range for the first time since Boy Scouts a few days ago and that's something I was unsure of. It's not like the recoil forced me off the target but I was spending time readjusting between shots.

Most of those people didnt get into the bolt and firing pin channel during their cosmoline clean up. When you shake the bolt, you should hear the firing pin freely moving about.
Don't slather lube/oil in the channel, makes it gunk up much easier.
Don't buy shitty ammo with super marshmallow soft primers.

Not sure if this counts, but one time I was testing my colt frontier scout .22 revolver to see at what exact point of letting the hammer go while holding the trigger down would make it fire.

Did it like 15 times of progressively pulling the hammer back further and further before it fired. Idk if it was from built-up hits or if I finally reached the exact distance it needed but it still scared the shit out of me when it went off.
