loots like it might be a rifle of some kind
>>32455748
can we get a clear picture of any markings?
I think it's Argentinian
>>32455817
Nah, couldn't be

Jesus christ dude. It's an Argentine M1891 Mauser.
Make: mauser 93
Model: bubba
Does anyone know the type of bullet this would fire?
Its a Glock. Duh.

Depends on if it was rebarreled or chambered. Originally was chambered for 7.65 Argie Mauser.
If rechambered, most likely .30-06 or .308.
If rebarreled, you need a chamber cast + bore slugging.

pointy ones that go really fast and hurt really bad when they hit you
As already stated, it's an Argentine Mauser Model 1891 infantry rifle, originally chambered in 7.65x53mm Argentine, and made by Ludwig Loewe & Co. of Berlin, the company that owned Mauser.

Mauser Model 1891 Argentine, the Loewe Berlin stamp indicates it was made before 1897, considering LB became part of Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken in 1896. Check the top of the bolt handle for a serial number - if it doesn't have one, the handle's been replaced. If you could post the letter and first digit of the serial (found in several places other than the bolt handle), I can check what year it's from.

This guy's right. These are commonly rechambered for .30-06 by reaming out the chamber. To see if it's been rechambered, find a .30-06 casing and shove it in the chamber - if the bolt won't close with it in, it hasn't been rechambered. I recently picked one up from Cabela's in much worse shape than yours (severely sporterized but excellent bore and rifling) but it was still chambered for the original 7.65x53 Argentine, so who knows.

>These are commonly rechambered for .30-06 by reaming out the chamber.
You're thinking of the Argie 1909; the 1891 would be a more difficult conversion because of the length of the single-column magazine.

The catch is if it was just rechambered, the bore is still .311 nominal size. You get horrible accuracy with .30-06. you effectively need to start handloading for a wildcat called .303-06 (or 7.7-06).

This was often done by small town gunsmiths, and then used as a single shot durr rifle since even with the conversion, it was cheaper than buying a brand new gun.

Delete that photo ASAP, it's never a good idea to show serials here on 4chan. Looks like your bolt handle is original, and the H3XXX dates to 1894. Congratulations, what you have there is no longer considered a firearm by the ATF and as such won't need to go through an FFL if you choose to sell it.

I've heard that elsewhere and it really doesn't surprise me that fudds attempted it.

Literally nothing has ever come of it for anyone, ever.
>>32456260
Eh, fair enough. Just out of interest OP, what did you pay for it?
>>32456277
Found it in the attic

Nice, looks like it's in decent condition. Check the chamber like I recommended above before you try to buy ammo for it, 7.65 Argentine is over $0.90 per round unless you buy old garbage Argie surplus, since it's only made by Prvi Partisan and Norma at this point.

How come it's brown and black then, shouldn't it be 100% white?

>shouldn't it be 100% white?
By 1909 they were :^)
