super bad. And I have an LCO too.

Just that it's not variable or the fact that it's different?
Ive shot a range with one on a m249 its good up to 100 yards but not accurate at all, but then again its for just getting up on target faster imo

Maybe for a LMG or DMR but for Carbines and PCC's it's unneeded

BiFocal stuff is hard to do right, and usually very expensive.
I'd probably be easier to do it electronically rather than optically. I think we'll start seeing more & more "optics" with small screens, like NVGs and thermal optics. Gives you greater options with regards to the reticle, magnification, duplicating the image, switch between reticles, calculate in bullet drop, etc.
The tech is already there, it's power drain that's an issue (and weight of the batteries).

I'm surprised rails and accessories don't have power interfaces that go to the stock battery.
>>32452109
They exist. It's just that there's no agreed upon solution yet.
That said, if your NVGs drain their battery, do you also want your red dot to go down?

Pretty easy, you can just flash a program into EEPROM on the battery power supply that manages distribution as well as auto-off functions if elected. Something like an arduino pro mini controller runs off of 23 micro amps and would actually allow for more battery life with battery saving modes. If you make it something like a Magpul STR that has little saddles with quickly replaceable batteries on each side you can swap one battery at a time while still powering stuff.
It just needs a "magpul" brand name and some carefully leaked photos of SOCOM units using it.

How come nobody just doesn't make a quality EER 1-4 or 1-6 power variable scope with a decent illuminated reticle (Trijicon Accupoint system (fiber+tritium), not reticle would be ideal) w/ rear focal plane, that doesn't cost a fortune or weigh 3lbs?
