Most people won't wear berets and such and as far as I know a badge has some problems you won't have with patches. Higher production cost per unit, less market, less ability to wear them on extra gear and have it seem not out of place, etc.

If you put a patch on your backpack, you customized/personalized your gear. If you put a pin on your backpack, you look like you work at Shenanigans.

Calling patches inherently autistic also undermines things like the constant changing hands these things do. I bought a FVEYs patch for my Canadian buddy, a FUCK ANIME patch for my fake Italian normie buddy, and a FOXHOUND patch for an Army buddy that intends to wear it on his shoulder the next time he can't see a flagpole from his station.

That being said, it's not like that's bad. If it's what you want, follow your dreams.

I think it has potential but that your intention is rather eccentric. I wouldn't consider that negative by any stretch of the imagination, it feels similar to tie clips and cuff links in its intention. I've seen really high quality shit for sale on Etsy in that vein. Back when I was still in military barracks, I had a corkboard that I stuck a bunch of pokemon badges on. People making them themselves rather than outsourcing seems relatively common. Unfortunately for your plan, the outlandish nature of many of the patches here IS the draw. "Battle Therapist" Sako patches, cute little personification keychains to put on sling swivels, so on with the latter items' draw being the gap between being something you find cute being tied to something you consider a tool.

Rather than something classy the major draw is to the sort of thing that can be put on an informal piece of gear, worn ironically, meant to be a representation of an aspect of something you're a fan of, or to put on themed kits. There's also the aspect of trading and displaying them to which, subjectively, patches are often seen as being the pinnacle of.

A pin has too much pomp and isn't conducive to be worn, for example, on paintball or airsoft gear. Likewise it's not suitable to wear when hunting and can't handily be applied to much gear. It's an answer looking for a question, know what I mean? That being said, I think it would have a market in the vein of challenge coins and such if you were to find a niche. It's just difficult to think of a design that I'd rather want on a pin than a patch aside from Dress Uniform type shit, which I see you were going for with >>32450111 . Reproductions of canonical pins in fictional universes would have a market if the universe being paid homage to were conducive to such things, primarily such works as military-themed anime. Even then I can't think of much off the top of my head. There's also the appeal of durability.

I like some of the figures. My favorites so far are Guts, Railgun and Teleporter from To Aru, fluffy-haired tank girl, and the MGS ones. A Paz figma would be amazing. I'd pay good money for that. More than those, however, I really fucking love the props and shit. Pokemon badges, dragon balls, coins from To Aru, and one day I'll get a Trenni silver coin by Cospa. That's correct. It's also written extremely genuinely. It makes me wonder if the artist is taking inspiration from real life or if he really is just pulling this from the ether, somehow. It's rare to see characters behave this humanly despite being so goddamned idealized. You'll probably finish the entire series in a week of light reading, you can usually read an entire page in less than 3 seconds.
