I was kind of hoping for it to not end up being a piece of shit, too.

>On 20 October 2010,CNBCtelevised a program,Remington Under Fire: a CNBC Investigation, reporting that the trigger mechanism used prior to 2007 on the model 700 could fire without the trigger being squeezed. The report stated that Remington has received thousands of customer complaints since the firing mechanism was introduced in the 1940s, and that nearly two dozen deaths and hundreds of injuries had been attributed to inadvertent discharges of 700 series rifles. Through internal Remington documents, the program showed that on multiple occasions, the company considered recalling the product.
>The inventor of the firing mechanism, Merle "Mike" Walker, 98 years old at the time of the documentary, told CNBC he proposed what he called a safer trigger in 1948 while the product was still in the testing stage. Walker said his enhanced design was rejected because of the added cost, 5 1/2 cents per gun (adjusted for inflation: $0.54). Critics of the documentary countered that every incident featured on the program involving loss of life was the result of firearms mishandling where owners pointed their rifles at other human beings.Remington responded with the Remington Model 700 Network which gave direct rebuttals to the program, and their perspective on the incidents the program makes claims about. Remington dismisses the allegations, pointing out that in every case either trigger mechanisms of the rifles were adjusted or altered beyond recommended specifications, rifles were poorly maintained and left to rust, or the misuser of the rifle admitted to police they might "possibly" have pulled the trigger.

>Though Remington has since changed to a new, cheaper, trigger mechanism design, the original Walker trigger continues in production to meet the needs of the US military and buyers of custom rifles.
>On December 6, 2014, Remington announced that as part of actions put into place to settle multiple lawsuits and to avoid future legal actions, they are replacing all triggers in Remington 700 Model's.Over 7.85 million rifles are included in this agreement, making all of them eligible for the replacements.
Yet the Remington company still manages to fuck up more on their productions.

Spoiled fucking brat much? Get a job and buy shit for yourself you ungrateful fuck.
Winchester 1911 "Widowmaker"
>Some users mistakenly cycled the barrel by placing the butt of the weapon against the ground and forcing the barrel down. In this position, the muzzle of the weapon would be pointing towards the face of the user, and the swelled shell could fire, injuring or killing the user.
>The potential for slam fire when clearing jams was not the only flaw in the 1911's design. The system of buffer rings used to reduce the recoil (two fiber washers) when the weapon was fired often failed. The breakdown of these rings greatly increased the recoil when a round was fired. The gun's "hammering recoil" caused many a stock to split.
I actually have one of these, and it's in perfect shape. However, I don't really want to shoot it, and I won't sell it unless the buyer is aware of how dangerously shitty it can be if used incorrectly.

>pointing the barrel at your head when clearing a jam
That's just natural selection at work.
>>32449800
There's a difference between a being a commercial failure and being a shit gun.
>>32449559
>Some users mistakenly cycled the barrel by placing the butt of the weapon against the ground and forcing the barrel down
Why? Sounds like they deserve some shot to the face.
>>32449446
that shitty "reporting" was debunked. See the response video Remington produced. Although I have heard that their quality has gone down in recent years, I wouldn't call the Model 700 a failure by any means
>>32449800
>>32449909
Debunked or not, it was still a bad design done just to save money.

How would buying a remmy be different than buying another USA made gun?
>>32450032
Probably because it's the single greatest product introduced in the last decade.
>>32450099
That would be Pmags

Nice try

Pmags and Gibbz side charging uppers
>Colt "All-American" Model 2000
>designed by Gene Stoner and Reed Knight
>ruined by Colt, 12-pound DAO trigger pull
>>32449894
The barrel basically acted as the charging handle, because long-recoil. If you've got a stuck shell, the easiest way to unstuck it is to buttstroke it.
Basically, stupid ergonomics and people not being very conscious of what they were doing.
>>32450218
Came here to post this.
>>32449894
Yes it's stupid, but good (gun) design attempts to account for human nature, such as temporary (or permanent) lapses of intelligence.
That's why I have a problem with semiautomatic pistols that require a trigger pull to strip (cough Glock cough). Obviously only an idiot would make that mistake, but in case you haven't noticed most people are idiots (and cops, who often carry Glocks, more so than average)
>>32450099
>single greatest product
doesn't work
>>32449448
The B is better, safety over decocker any day.
>>32449325
Still gonna buy one as a range toy, they look neat enough where even if it's shit I still want one
>>32450032
single action with no manual safety, only grip safety. I've been wanting something like this for a while. The 1911 fudds have a fucking aneurysm when people suggest it

the ak47. the akm is great sucess but the original 47 had less of a military lifespan than the sks.

>>32450228
Yeah, wouldn't an easy fix just be to crouch off to the side a bit while forcing the barrel down?
>>32450639
Are you planing to carry cocked? Doesn't seem like a great idea.
>>32450639
>dat idiot scratch
>>32450954
Yes, but negligence and general complacency is very much a thing. Moreso when you're passed off at a malfunctioning and retardedly-designed gun.
>>32451081
Yup and that's the point. The grip safety does all job. The R51 did it but the rest of the gun is garbage, never gunna buy/carry it.
Also I posted the wrong pic, I meant to post this 1910 prototype. The Army Ordnance Board requested an additional safety to holster while riding on horseback. I don't ride a horse so I have the luxury of just moving my hand off the grip safety.
>>32449724
Would have been a great gun if it weren't for the cross-slide safety and the terrible magazines.
>>32449724
I need it
Still dont get how they fucked up a 10mm Cz copy.

Do you shove your gun into the holster with your hand on the fucking trigger or something?

AmI the only one who thinks this would be a dope CCW if it didn't have the cucked feature? I mean just look at how smooth that polymer body is?

it is fine as long as you don't mind having the back of the slide crack you in the skull when the slide fails
