There are "tropic" (forest), "arid" (desert), and a snow version of Multicam for that reason. Multi cam was designed for Afghanistan, and it works well in other places that are dry but have vegetation. It's good all around but it's not better than a specific forest pattern for forests, etc.

You make cheap, light, one size fits all camo jumpsuits that go over a simple khaki or whatever uniform in a pattern that is ideally suited to the AO.

There's an info graphic somewhere that explains it better than I can (and of course I can't find it right now) but:

Multicam's selling point is that in differing lighting conditions, different parts of the pattern stand out. I've noticed that in sunny and bright conditions, the yellows and tans dominate; the greens dominate in shadow. Multicam does this more than other patterns I've noticed, hence the name.

Multicam is not perfect but it works great in some areas (I live in the Mojave desert, which has lots of tan, brown, and dead green vegetation.) It's marketed as all-purpose, but think of it as all-terrain tires. They work decently everywhere, but on a race track you want racing slicks, on snow you want snow tires, etc.

atacs fg material is literally so cheap because no one wants it that it is used as a filler material in tactical gear. if there is a layer of material you wont see on the finished product its often filled with atacs material.

Not really, Michiganfag here, multicam with pic related is actually decent for winter, but kinda shit during summer, except for dunes. The tans/browns really match with a lot of dead shrubbery. ATACS-FG is bretty good spring-summer.

More important than the pattern is how you put it to use. There's this Brent or Bret guy on YouTube who displays different camos. Whenever he hides well he's almost invisible, no matter the pattern. When he hides badly, he's always visible, no matter the pattern.
