Hey guys, I just got this today. This is my very first firearm. I've shot a single bullet out of a .22 rifle in my entire life.

The only thing I really know about this so far is how to load it, unload it, the safety, and how to check if the gun is chambered or not by taking out the clip and pulling back the charging handle to look inside to see if there's a bullet in there or not. Thats all I really know.

What the fuck should I learn first? What should I do with this for the next 3 days? I don't work so I have all day.

Please help /k/ommandos, you're my only hope.

>inb4 "Why did you buy an AR as your first gun?"

Because I fucking can.
>>
>>32427830
Go shoot it, obviously

Also it's called a magazine, people will rage if you call it a clip.
>>
Well, you're going to need a rear sight before anything else.

I mean would it be smart to learn how it works before I shoot it? Also, I don't have too much money for ammo at the moment at least. But thank you for the correction, is there a reason why clip is bad? I didn't realize guns were so butthurt inducing.
>>
>>32427877
Clip triggers the autists on /k/, it's how you know if they have autism. Normal people honestly don't give a shit what you call it

The two on the left are clips, the one on the right is a magazine. Generally clips load magazines, and magazines load guns.
>>
Congrats on joining the klub. Now get a rear sight for that beasty, find a range in your vicinity and get yourself some personal instruction.

Yeah that's gonna be my first purchase, that and a sling. Any recommendations on rear sights that won't kill my wallet? Also, I have horrible eye sight in my right eye, in which I'm right handed, is it difficult to shoot with both eyes open?
>>
>>32427877

it's like calling a computer monitor a "tv" in front of an IT guy

nobody is going to say anything to your face about it but they will judge the shit out of you and treat you like babby
>>
>>32427959
Do you want Back up iron sights or fixed sights?
>>
I'll type up a basic gun knowledge guide for you. There are four basic rules of gun safety

1.Always have your finger on the trigger in case a bad guy jumps out

2.to see if a gun is loaded look down the barrel and work the action until all the bullets come out, when you think you are done pull the trigger just to be sure

3.if you have a revolver, spin the chamber as fast as you can and swing it closed. This gives the bullets more torque when they fly through the air.

How to clear a jam on your gun (applys to all guns)
1.Slap
2.Tap
3.Jap
4.Bang
5.W-W-W-W-W-WHAMMY!

now get out there and make Uncle Sam proud
>>

MBUS.
Also if you're on a budget but still want a good optic get yourself a Primary Arms advanced red dot.

Pretty much this IRL, on the internet, it'll derail an entire thread. Sortof like it is now.

I see, I've heard they were good. I was lookin into the Vortex Sparc II or the Strikefire. Is the primary arms optic better than those?
>>32427996
Ok, thank you anon
>>
>>32427830
>What the fuck should I learn first?
How to field strip it so you can properly clean and maintain it. I'm constantly amazed at how many AR owners are uncomfortable field stripping their rifles.

Some basic working knowledge of how the internals work so that if you have a malfunction, you know why. Semi-autos have a lot more going on under the hood than a bolt action 22. Also going to help you know the parts that need lubed and cleaned the most.

Similarly, know common malfunctions and how to quickly and safely clear them. This is usually "Pull the charging handle", but exceptions exist.
>>
>>32428135
Thanks I've heard from a few people to learn how to disassemble and reassemble the firearm. Maybe I'll do that over the next few days.
>>
>>32428264
Do it until it's burned into muscle memory and you could do it in your sleep. That will give you a mechanical understanding of the weapon you cannot get by reading or vidya alone.

Since you're a poorfriend get the vortex, it's a quality optic.
>>
>>32427959
DESU just skip the sling for now and buy an extra box or two of rounds. I find slings are only useful if you are going to be hiking around or for working with a secondary firearm. When you are learning to shoot and how to operate your weapon, a sling really isn't important. Those extra rounds will nice to have however.
>>
>>32427877
>I mean would it be smart to learn how it works before I shoot it?
You put a magazine in the magazine well, charge the handle, and pull the trigger.
Do you mean disassembly? Just look it up on youtube, disassembling an AR is super easy.

Just remember the four rules of firearms safety and you're golden.
If you're not familiar with them, the four rules are (in order of importance):
1. Never point the muzzle of the firearm at anything you do not want to shoot (this is crucial, if you fuck up this is the rule that will absolutely save your ass)
2. Always be sure of your target AND what's behind it
3. Always assume every firearm you pick up is loaded until you have proven otherwise
4. Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot

Always follow those four rules and you'll never have an ND, neglect them and you have only yourself to blame if you do fuck up and put a round in your floor/wall/dog/neighbour.
>>
>>32427830
You need a rear sight ~40 bucks on Amazon google magpul rear MBUS.
Next thing is to look up the four rules of firearm safety and drill them into your head. Also read a guide on range etiquette. Next go buy a box or two of ammo and go to the range and shoot.
>>
>>32428341
Underrated
>>32428413
Ah I see, I'll look into the Primary Arms one then. I secretly just want my AR really good for SHTF scenarios.
>>32428533
Thanks my fellow anon
>>32428574
Good point, very good point
>>
>>32427988
Don't stand in front of the barrel like that. All guns are always loaded and you don't want them pointing at something you don't want to shoot. A good fear of guns but like in a God-fearing way will help you respect them and stay safe.
>>
>>32428574
Slings can be nice for getting a little extra tension to stabilize the gun and pull it into your shoulder a little more, even a cheap surplus two point can be useful, but your right that ammo usually takes priority.
>>
>>32428533
I love the color of your floor
>>
This is a comfy thread. Nothing interesting going on, but no stupid arguing or autism rage fits.

OP, this has already been said but always assume the gun is loaded, don't point it at anywhere you don't want to shoot at
>>
>>32427959
I am left handed. Left eye dominant. When it comes to iron sights I find it harder to focus with both eyes open. Took a lot of training to overcome with stock irons.
When it comes to optics though, from 1x red dots, to 6x magnification it's too easy to keep both eyes open.
>>
>>32428631
Thanks for the concern but I wasnt standing in front of it, i just extended my arms and angled my phone.
>>
>>32428990
Ah I see, well then thank you. Cause yeah my right eye is pretty fucked with vision. My left eye is good but idk how comfortable it would be aiming with my left eye when I'm right handed.
>>
>>32428398
Ugh I'm pretty sure that's a .308 mag
>>
Not OP but can anyone recommend a decent, affordable sling? Thanks
>>
>>32429250
nah breh its a .30 capacity assault clipazine
>>
>>32427830
Legit OP, dont do anything in this thread except this >>32428592
I would also get a rear sight, but hey, thats just me.
To familiarize yourself with the gun, make sure it is unloaded, check a dozen times if you want just make sure its not loaded. And then just fuck around with it, being safe of course. Disassemble it, aim it, fuck with an empty mag and pretend to load and ready it. Just dick around with it and get used to it. But be safe and follow >>32428592 instructions.
>>
>>32427830
>What should I do with this for the next 3 days?
buy sights
>>32429654
generic 10$ ak sling works wonders probably the best choice under 50 bucks
>>
Take it to show-and-tell, it's what the a
Assault Rifle 15 was designed for.
Make sure to stock up on 30 caliber clips so you can fire them in half a second.
>>
>>32428647
I do agree with you on this, but if I was teaching someone to shoot, I would have them learn to stabilize the weapon without any attachment that way they can use the weapon properly if something ever happens to said attachment.

Thanks for ruining Christmas OP.
>>
Keep the ammo away from it, keep your finger away from the trigger, and just dick around with it until you figure out how it works. AR-15s are more complicated than your average long rifle but they're still simple enough that a person of average intelligence should be able to figure out how they work just by playing with it. That includes taking it apart. You're best off not shooting it at all until you're 100% confident in your knowledge of how it works.
>>
>>32428631
Fuck off with this autistic shit.

If I have cleared the gun myself I will point the gun wherever the fuck I want. You "ALWAYS TREAT DA GUHN LIKE ITS LOADED" retards are insufferable
>>
>>32428099
OP if you are on budget get Aero precision mount and a vortex strike eagle 1-6x24

also the Park 2 might be good enough for a red dot. Get a cleaning kit and some good lube etc

Get Lancer mags
or GI / magpul if you are poor.

buy ammo in bulk
