Honestly, I live in the bluest liberal area and I never heard of Miss Sloane outside of /k/. But I did hear about Moana, Fantastic Beasts, Doctor Strange, Arrival, etc. Huge marketing fail. They couldn't even get the word out to Hillarytown, it's not fucking surprising it flopped.

And even now I look at ad copy and the trailers and such and I can't... like, why do I want to watch this? Most people are burnt out on politics right now, do I really want to go watch more? I certainly didn't on fucking November 25th. It's not even clear why she gives a shit about gun control in particular. Usually people who care have a story that motivates them (Sandy Hook or whatever), but this protagonist seems to be literally a soulless politician, and in the larger Democratic ur-narrative, the soulless politicians are Republicans, really ("the other side is evil" is old hat, especially when talking about politicians).

So, at least based on the teaser trailers and such, this is like selling a story about a woman who is LIKE a Republican fighting other ACTUAL Republicans to Democrats and expecting them to get excited. And apparently they didn't. Not really surprising.
