Is reverse grip viable in any scenario?
>>32423434
Other than when grappling, not really. Maybe if paired with a buckler but in actual use people would probably instinctively bash with it instead of using the dagger
The people who actually used daggers for self-defense before the advent of the gun seem to have thought so. Do you know something about knife fighting they don't?
>>32423434
A defensive one
>>32423626
Well I'm currently alive and they aren't. Just saying.
>>32423626
its been explained that in knife fighting you can use reverse grip to hook. A reverse sword however is clearly what this thread is about. It would not function the same as a knife in this regard and be far too unwieldy
>>32423434
With a sword? Fuck no.
>>32423735
But are you really? I mean sure you're "alive" but are you living?
Only if someone is on the ground and you're impaling them

I'm shitposting at 4 in the morning, I'm dead and have been so for years.

>A reverse sword however is clearly what this thread is about
I interpreted it as being about reverse grip in general and the image just showing that he meant holding a blade pointing past the little finger rather than holding a firearm pointing at the user or whatever other potential misinterpretation. Reverse grip for a longsword is patently retarded, I won't deny that.
>>32423434
Yes.
There are scenarios where reverse grips work.
Well you know
CONTEXT
If your waiting to thrust in a tight space yes
>>32423434
With a short blade (shorter than your own forearm), yes.
With a long weapon, it can be useful in certain particular scenarii, but not in "any scenario" no.
If there is no blade, like a stick or staff, single handed reverse grip is the same, useful for short stuff, quite rubbish for anything else. Reverse front grip for two handed sticks is very common actually.
For planting it in the ground of your enemies conquered land

I-It was a joke ._.
>>32424258

You'd just get your servant on that shit while you're drinking mead and fucking bitches

someone with credentials as a swing dancer, rather than a man who's taught HEMA for nearly 20 years, and in fact coined the term HEMA?
/k/ gets stupider every year, I swear.

Probably bait, but for anyone who doesn't know.... Matt is actually very humble about his role in the community, but he's been heavily involved in it for a long time. He's one of the bigger contributors to HEMA as a whole. Not just because he teaches and makes youtube videos.

Lindybeige pls go. Resting your sword on the ground point first is period correct.
