My Norc HP9's are better quality than the Remington 870 design they copied and at half the price.

I have a pair of JW-25's. One has the rear sight base welded on at not quite 12 o'clock but fuck it, that was the rifle I wanted to put a scope on anyway. 1" groups at 50 yards after some trigger smoothing.

Have a JW-15 Hiker. The irons have too short of a sight radius so I dropped a cheap 3-9x40 on it. 1.25" groups at 50 yards after some trigger smoothing.

Have three JW-83 single shot 12 gauge sold by Canada Ammo as the DA Backpacker. Okay, THOSE guns were shit BUT they were $80 for two and $50 for the one because it has a pretty good ding in the stock. (Who cares?) First thing was to remove the buttstock and replace a washer with a lock washer then blue LocTite the threads. Next was to blue LocTite the threads on the forearm takedown mechanism. Last thing was to Dremel off the bit of the bead's shaft which sticks down into the barrel.

I have a Chinese AK.

It's made by SDM which means Sino Defence Manufacturing. Basically it's one of the factories that makes guns under the Norinco brand but also sells them under their own brand.

Pros:

>cheap
>reliable

Costs like 560 Swiss Francs brand new and I can feed it any ammo I want.

Cons:

>terrible finish
>accuracy
>tolerances are not the same as other AKs

The finish is simple awful, it came with a set of wooden furniture that looked like IKEA wood painted in red and it would bubble once it got warm. There are machining marks everywhere and there's even a couple of marks where you notice that the Chinese guy took a file to remove extra metal from some parts.

Stuff that would otherwise fit other AKs won't fit so easily with this one because it's thicker and the dimensions are a bit different.

Accuracy is actually decent at 50 meters, but after that it's basically hard to hit with precision. Maybe it's me, maybe it's not.

the difference between good norinco and meh norinco is if its a gun that they use vs a gun produced for export only. they dont want to invest in tooling. for example china uses the 870 knockoff the military or the government already paid for the tooling to build them correctly. they can crank em out and are built well. with the 1897 some guy showed up said these are neat lets make these and sell them. china being china went with the bare minimum buying new tools and cut every corner to maximize profit. the end product is rough as fuck and unrefined.

I have a buddy willing to sell his JW-25 for around $200. Not bad for a 22 but I know JW-25's can be had for far cheaper in Canada.

What do you think? Worth it? I absolutely love Mausers and own a few Kar98k's, they're my favorite kind of rifle. His JW looks like it's had all but a brick through it, very little use and no scratches/dents.

Speaking of Norchinko anyone have any experience with the JW-105? (bolt action 5.56)

We have Norinco selling in Canada, we also have the traditional US MFgs like Remlin and Mossberg and shit, and they both fill their own niches. hell, Remlin still competes on the budget market with perfectly good products. Like I wanted to start my collection with a .22 bolt gun, bought a Marlin XT. Made in USA. Perfectly decent gun. If I wanted to spend an extra hundred probably would have picked up a Ruger American Rimfire, Norinco has a .22 bolt at the same price, but I'd probably go for the Ruger American at that price range instead.

Because of the stringent safety regulations on firearms sales Chink guns aren't THAT bad. There's certainly quality control issues, but nothing that leads to guns exploding.
