You're confusing 7 story tall mechas with a powersuit OP.

Its still a bad idea for obvious reasons though.

Mechs will never be used in a military application outside of load bearing and warehouse duty.

Yeah nah, fuck off cunt.

Mechs are fucking retarded for frontline military service and operational capacity would be extremely limited. They're overcomplicated, require way more engineering and protection for what a tank could do.

Don't get your information from /m/.

I agree, mechs are fucking cool and will have use in load bearing or construction. Maybe auxillary military roles, but that's it.

Exosuits and powersuits are a different story though. A lot smaller, they work with the human form, it's not a giant walking target, it has uses in both combat and civilian applications.

People need to step back from Mech Warrior and Titanfall for a bit and look at the actual practical applications of mechs.

it is unrealistic, this in it's present state is useless, a more advanced version will only have use as a utility vehicle for transporting heavy shit to specific challenging places (potentially) and as a novelty item. For something military, some damage to the leg and it's disabled. Completely useless even if something stable and usable were created.

>>32392217
how do you think powered armour would work? The user would be piloting it too, with their natural movements.

Nobody is saying it can't happen, we're saying it'll never be better than wheeled vehicles. Any technological advancement that could benefit mechs would also benefit cheaper, simpler, more efficient tanks or other armored vehicles. Literally the only thing that mechs could possibly do better is climb steeper inclines on uneven surfaces.

Hell, even jets can be hit by them, so only a second to react!

There are MILLIONS of other fucking things going on in war. It's rarely ever a fucking bench shoot, and anything that "fucks" mechs would fuck everything else in our arsenal, so stop acting like its exclusive to mechs.

Power Armor is a suit, you wear it. Mech is the colloquial term for Walker Vehicle, you pilot it. It doesn't matter how big or small it is.

Alternatively it is also acceptable to use Mech to refer to the upper half of some humanoid vehicle that has been unceremoniously attached to some other movement system, such as a set of treads in place of legs or an array of rocket thrusters.

If you could make it so it aided a soldier's mobility and survivability a great deal, power armor could work pretty well. The power density thing is tricky, but i've heard there's some stuff going on in solid state lithium batteries that might do the trick.
