Also, has anyone imported a firearm from the states before? I want to bring back an FN49 or FS2000. I have the FRT as well so I can make sure what I'm bringing back isn't prohib

WHat is the progress with that Conservative proposal to make it so that all firearms of the same design must be classified the same, to avoid that spooky AK47 pattern Blazer getting classified prohib when every other style was non restricted?

And isn't the CPC proposal basically

I have a confession:

I unironically don't mind the 5 round limit - I think we have other serious concern, like unrestricting the AR

Looks like North Sylva already has the Gen 2 Type 97 on hand already
>pic and video below from two weeks ago
Obviously, it comes with a flat top rail that is lower and a bit longer than the FTU upgrade for Gen 1.
Also seems like it is different from the early models we saw in Pakistan, with the reversible reciprocating handle. Also kinda looks like the mag release has finally been updated to be ambi. Not sure what the deal with the takedown pin is, other than it clearly looks different from the original model (I never owned a T97 so wouldn't know).
Thoughts? Anyone see or know of any other differences/updates?

very short video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGmHaw75s6A
>>
>>32388419
I feel like the mag laws are fucking dumb because of the fact that you can just get some .50beo mags and stuff 15 rounds in them. Or the fact that you can go to jail over a 10 round AR-15 mag, but it's perfectly okay to have a 10 round LAR-15 mag, even though other than the mfg. stamp they are physically identical.

And if some psycho is going to go on a shooting rampage they'll just get 5/30 mags and yank the pin out with a pair of pliers anyway.

They should drop the mag limit and have laws like some of the US states have; where if you're at the range, go to town, and innawoods hunting you can only drop 5 in.
>>
>>32388482
I always wonder why hood rats haven't figured out you can buy a flintcock rifle at 18, chop down the barrel and the stock, and have a single shot revolver.

I mean, it would be retarded as shit, but if you got the drop on the guy you could fuck him up good.

That, or buy antique pistols and hand load.
>>
>>32388513
A lot of criminals just use BB guns. Even sub 500fps can kill somebody. If somebody ambushes you with a pellet gun to your head, you are going to give them your wallet, you aren't going to stop and ponder whether or not they have a ballistic tip pellet loaded or just a plain BB.
>>
>>32388513
>flintcock
>single shot revolver
also
>dindus buying thousands of dollars worth antiques instead of hot shitty hipoints off their homies on the black market

but I forgive you all of that for the mental image of somali criminals going full somali pirate mode (original somali pirates, not the "Ay em dee kaptan nao" kind)
>>
Why flimpdick anyways?

Why not like .50 Sharp? There's breach-loaders that are license free.

But my entire crew rolls with flintlocks.

They call us the flintstones.

Flint is part of my traditional hunting practices and my engrained treaty right so these are ceremonial tools and cannot be subject to your forensics because they are sacred, pig.
>>
>>32388719
Single shot oddball calibers manufactured prior to 1897 or whatever are okay.

brass cartridge breach loaders I think started showing up in the 1870s.

>Not sure what the deal with the takedown pin is, other than it clearly looks different from the original model (I never owned a T97 so wouldn't know).

>>
>>32388766
Also yeah... I mean back to mag restrictions being stupid... I mean nobody cares whether or not the guy with the gun is able to shoot the next guy. People only care about themselves getting shot, and criminals know this. A single shot shotgun is just as effective a crime weapon as an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine.

Like if I was at 7/11 buying a bag of chips and some hombre whipped out a stoeger coach gun, I don't give a fuck that he only has 2 shots. I only care about making sure neither of those shots is for me. And the guy with the gun knows this. So there's no point in gimping my firearm collection.

And the fact that we have less mass shootings is because people have an easier time getting psychiatric referrals than they do in the US.

Like there was one guy in Canada who told his psychiatrist he was thinking about doing a mass shooting. boom. problem fixed. No mass shooter has ever gone from 0 to mass shooting without some escalating pattern of behaviour in between.

They should set up the categories objectively and take away the arbitrary feels classification.

Criminals are stupid as fuck and dont care about the gun laws even the ones that benifit them, to them knowing and caring about the law means your a snitch or a cop

To get rid of the part that says, "any firearm deemed prohibited" which is basically "if we dont like it you cant have it" clause. Whether is conservatives or the rcmp, classification of firearms should be based on physical properties, not emotions.
>>
>>32389316
The one main reform I want to see is getting rid of party lines voting in the house. Even if that means getting rid of the automatic no confidence on failed motion rule.

MPs should be both free and obligated to represent their constituents regardless of party lines.
>>
>>32389318

>>

>>
>>32389663
Yeah, the studies suggest it's basically mentally harmless if you are at least 25 years old. And as far as physical harm goes, I couldn't give two fucks if others want to smoke themselves to death.

I just couldn't even when harper was running anti marijuana commercials in the last election...

Like how fucking out of touch... The vast majority of Canadians support at the bare minimum, decriminalization of marijuana. Criminalization certainly isn't keeping it out of the hands of teenagers. And as far as adults go... Live and let live. I thought that was supposed to be a conservative value.

It's not the import that's usually a problem, declare it, pay the HST, bring it in. The major problem is if you are exporting from the USA. See, if they catch you violating ITAR, it could be up to 25 years in US federal prison.

Your best bet to stay legal is to use a company that is licensed on both sides of the border like irunguns.us; there are a few others as well so shop around.

Be prepared to pay for:
-the shitty exchange rate
-USA export permit
-HST
-brokerage fee by the importer
-shipping multiple times across the USA and Canada
-the gun itself

If you are exporting from other countries, their laws may be even more Byzantine, especially certain European countries.

>>32390937
So all hand guns and AR-15s in Canada are restricted. A restricted firearm can only be shot at a registered range (Therefore no hunting). Also you need a ATT (Authorization to Transport) which is a form allowing you to take it from one designated location (eg. your house) to another (eg. your range). I recommend getting it if you think you want to peruse a shooting hobby, however you can always get it done later, you'll just have to wait the 3 months for it to come in.

Nah.
For starters: They only care about live-in spouse/common law.

If you are just casually dating they DGAF.

And you can still get one with a live in spouse, they just might want to interview them. So if you do have a live in partner, make sure you talk to them before applying so you're on the same page.
>>
>>32391031
>For starters: They only care about live-in spouse/common law.
>If you are just casually dating they DGAF.

Except that if you break up with a casual girlfriend, all she has to do is to call the police and report that she has just broken up with her boyfriend and that he owns firearms. That is L I T E R A L L Y all the pretext that is needed to have all your firearms confiscated until you deal with a lengthy court battle.

True, but it's not as bad as that guy is making it seem. The ATT is applied automatically once you own any restricted gun, so while you are only really allowed to take it to a range, it's not really an issue. Restricted status also brings slightly more annoying storage laws as well, unfortunately. That being said, handguns are super fun, and I do recommend it.

It's kind of a half step. As it stands the Liberals were already shitting their pants and throwing hissy fits claiming the change meant that everyone was allowed to conceal carry handguns anywhere they wanted without repercussion.

As I understood it in my PAL class, Pump actions in alberta at least aren't subject to the 5 round limit. Plus I've shot in BC with friends with a pump that had 7 rounds.

Most people don't actually know anything of the laws in this country regarding firearms at all though. I spent a good chunk of my childhood thinking that you could really own much outside of some basic hunting guns.
>>
>>32391281
There's zero mag limit on any manual action firearm Canada wide. Somehow rumours got spread about shotguns, but theoretically if you could fit 6 million shells into the tube mag on a pump action it's perfectly kosher.

On detatchable mags it gets more complicated because of the mag is certified for use in a semi automatic weapon then it's limited to 5 shots, 10 if it's for use in a handgun.
>>
>>32391296
Same... Then I started talking on the internet with pro gunners a couple years ago, and the pro gunners made some pretty primo arguments.

Given the state of Canada's politics: Conservatives and NDP being leaderless and the Liberals becoming less popular by the day. I think the next election and the leadership conventions coming up are going to be the best chances to unfuck Canada's gun laws.

Right now though, the "gun lobby" in Canada is very fragmented. The NFA, CSSA, and CCFR are essentially uncooperative with each other and dilute their effective voice. I think a very important goal is to give a unified voice a la the NRA.

I also believe a major talking point that can be taken advantage of is Leitch talking about allowing pepper spray carry and the Liberal's being extremely dismissive of women protecting themselves. Pushing hard on women's rights to defend themselves I think is the best way forward in a PR sense. I think that it is a way to force the Liberal's to soften their stance and make concessions for the next election.

Honestly I'm kind of rambling, but I do think we have a perfect opportunity on the horizon with rising concerns over refugees, women's security, and the general relaxation of the populace's feelings towards firearms. I think that we as /k/ommandos should be trying to take advantage of the situation. I think we should actually try to exert influence on the policies that affect us, and go on the offensive to push for more.

>assuming I'm a rightist

I don't buy into the old "left vs. right" false dichotomy. It's just a way of dividing people into being politically ineffective.

I think immigration policy should favor competitive hiring conditions.

I think gays should have the right to be just as miserable as everybody else.

I think dude, weed, should be legal.

I think serious crimes should lead to serious penalties.

I think Canada needs it's own version of the 2nd amendment.

But at the same time I do support firearm licensing.

Why, in the search for political representation, do I have to choose one or two of those ideas while discarding the rest?

But as far as partisans go, leftists are divisive and shallow, and absolutely full of shit.

Rightwing partisans are self righteous pricks; but at least you know what to expect. At least they make an effort to debate their opponents, even if they have no intention of actually swaying on any of their stances.

Thats true. Though i would take it as a right with no licensing over mandatory licensing and not a right. Its comparatively easy to avoid exposure to idiots with guns on a range versus needing to use the roads and a car to drive around and do anything in this country.

Its also not likely something that'll happen in my lifetime. No matter how badly i want it.

Prophet River has a fairly mild sale, but they also have some reloading components in oddball calibers and fancy hunting gear, so you can save a bit of money if you're looking for stuff like 45-100 Sharps brass or a little off a high-end Zeiss scope.

I've also seen enough conservatives arguing about what it means to be conservative lately that I'll disagree with you on who's more divisive, and I'd rather not turn this into a silly back-and-forth where we list all the stupid shit either side does. But man, was it ever funny watching a neocon and a trump supporter argue about what "American Exceptionalism" meant one day. It basically boiled down to "exceptionalism doesn't exist, and thinking it's true allows degenerates to slowly destroy your country" vs. "america is exceptional and doesn't have to follow any rules, and we're going to show those degenerates the meaning of MAGA!", and did they fucking hate each other for daring to disagree, some of the most hilarious shit I've seen in a while.

Like I said, I don't disagree that the partisan right is retarded too.

For me, personally, I find their crap somewhat more tolerable than the left.

As far is if there was an election called right now, without a doubt I would vote Conservative.

The left has hogged their turn with the swinging pendulum of social chaos; and it has created a sort of cultural tension that needs to be unleashed before it becomes something big, ugly and physically dangerous to societal order.

Justin Trudeau was a mistake. A mistake that I will shamefully admit I am partly responsible for. I was hoping that voting for him would lead to a minority government. And I know I wasn't alone. Pretty much everyone else I know who made a strategic Trudeau vote was hoping for a minority government.

And the election maps speak for themselves.
Most of his seats are from ridings with a 3 way split. People just wanted a parliament that wasn't hastily cramming legislation through.

Is it true there's no mag capacity limits on bolt action rifle mags?

Will the RCMP shoot your dog if you get/build a semi-auto that uses the bolt mags?
>>
>>32398454

Yes, if the magazines can be sued in other weapons they have to be capped off.
>>
>>32398454
It all comes down to the intended use of the mag. Which is entirely up to the mfg.

If they stamp "FOR USE IN BLAH BLAH BOLT GUN OR SUCH AND SUCH SEMI AUTO" on it then the mag is limited to 5 rounds.

See LAR15 mag.

10 round AR15 mag = illegal. Physically identical but differently stamped 10 round LAR15 mag = legal. Because it's for a handgun, and handguns are allowed to hold 10 rounds.

Basically it's a fucking mess, and don't mess around with it, save for the tested and true ones, like the .50beo mags and LAR15 mags.

There's plenty of battle rifles not banned.

The FAL is available with a separate laminate stock and foregrip and the rest of it is made out of black tactical. So it is very triggering to liberals. Hence it's banned.
>>
>>32398759

they are making it up as they go.
>>
>>32398751
Well you see the 90s when they were drawing up the firearms act they were looking at current copy of firearms digest while binge watching Schwarzenegger, stalone and bruce willis movies, and i guess in one scene of a movie or something they saw someone shoot it on full auto for 10min without reloading and thought it does that irl, same reason they banned the g11 by name, they literally saw it in demolition man, actually thought it shot exploding laser plasma grenade bombs, so they banned it by name after figuring out what it was called. At the time guns like m14s, or vzs or such were in popular culture or used extensively by bad guys which is why they remain legal. The mini 14 however is an anomaly, no matter how many people it kills it just never gets mentioned
>>
>>32398813

Like if it has 2 pieces of wooden furniture (i.e. foreward hand rest and butt stock) it gets associated with an AK-47 so oo, scary, triggered.

If it's stock is just one big continuous piece of wood furniture it's grandpas ole hunting rifle and it doesn't matter if it's An M14, a mini 14, an M1 garand, etc.

You sound like a Breivik fanboy. Also, no one ever expected someone would detonate a bomb outside their capital building as the distraction for the real attack, which delayed police response by a lot. That's next level crazy.

>>32398867
>I've noticed another pattern though.
As much as I hate to say it, Moleman was basically right. Pretty much all the name-banned firearms were picked because they were used by the bad guys in 80's and 90's action movies. And it hasn't been talked about in a long time, but the fudds basically threw the rest of the Canadian gun-owning community under the bus at the time, which is why a lot of fudd guns avoided the ban despite being functionally the same as many of the scary black rifles that had shoulder things that go up.

Here's what actually likely happened:

Some mom took her kid to the range to plink with their 22.

Some tacticoolfag pulled out his HK243 and started bampfiring that shit to try and look all cool, and the mom was like OH MY GOD and called the RCMP and complained.

And the RCMP was like: Well fuck these gunfags, who are 2/3rds less likely to commit any crime (including minor property offenses) let's ruin their fun some more because of 1 douchebag.

seriously, as much as I hate to see any rifle get prohib status, boys at the lab did everyone's wallet a favour on this one.
it's a pretty retarded and overpriced pos just like SL8, if not worse.
no really, watch reviews from uncucked yuropeens who have them, everything is shitty plastic, including much of the trigger assembly, it's inaccurate as shit and often unreliable, feels and rattles like a toy and performs like one too. literally the only thing going for it is looks and muh G36 vidja gaims nostalgia boner

here is a video of the best possible version you could want (all civilian parts that can be put on it to make it more like G36C) still being a colossal disappointment for what you are expected to pay for it:

Almost all lmgs and belt feds, in a semi auto configuration, are/would be non restricted as long as its not banned by name, theres currently mg34s m1919s browing m2s a handful of 22lr m1919s, and you could have things like dshks, kords, sg-42s, maxims, mg42s, bredas, m1917s, only problem is you need to manufacture a completely new semi auto only reciever for it in Canada, parts kits for lmgs/hmgs are widely available, apexgunparts is a good place they have every kit imaginable just about

Not only in Canada. In Switzerland, too. Laser sights got forbidden because, as you know from Terminator 1, you put the red dot on the target, you pull the trigger, you cannot miss. Silencers got forbidden because they turn gunfire sound into small burps. Hollow point ammo got forbidden in handguns because of socialists' feelings (they remain legal for rifles).
>>
>>32401624
What if its a rifle that fires a pistol caliber
>>

You cannot get HP pistol ammo anymore. This solves the issue.

How? You cannot import the projectiles and making JHP requires some heavy machinery. You'd have to smuggle them from Germany, but I doubt that you could purchase them without a valid German license (Germans are really strict and no one wants to arrive on a terror watchlist).

So, we have to use FMJ for self-defense despite risk of over penetration and ricochet.
>>
>>32401929
You can just drill holes into fmj which just requires a drill press, you cant get a drill press there? You can also cast lead and drill hollow points in that and itll work better

Two questions:

Which short shotgun is the best? Grizzly? Canuck? Anything else?

Is the right to keep and bear arms unpopular among Canadian shooters? It seems like most don't say they want to have it so they don't look like crazy wannabe Americans but deep down they want that human right, right?

>>
>>32404409

I'm actually being serious.
>>
>>32404416
Well I can't comment on shotguns because I'm a rifle guy.

As far as the law goes, "Canadian shooters" isn't 1 guy. But it seems fairly common that Canadian Shooters stand by the mandatory CFSC aspect of the licensing system since it's effective at drilling in safe firearm handling and weeds out idiots who shouldn't be anywhere near a gun.

They don't however support the idea of being treated like a criminal just because they own guns. Nor do they support the arbitrary classification of guns. Some support classification, but only if it is based on some objective criteria instead of the feels. (i.e. all AR variants being restricted regardless of barrel length).
>>
>>32401111
Wasn't the importation of a new belt fed semi auto shitcanned by the rcmp recently because they fucking knew they couldn't class it prohib so they just said you can't bring it in after trying to hide it in the testing lab for a year or more?

RPK or something?
>>
>>32398867

>>
>>32404493
It is, and it's only the one that was specifically marketed as looking like an AK that was prohibited, all other versions of it (featuring only different furniture) were made to be NR.
>>
>>32404509
Yeah you see that's BS.
Like I can see, say all of the guns that are built using an AR-15 firing system being called an AR-15 variant, because they are.

But the Blaze-47 is a fucking Mossberg Plinkster variant, not a fucking AK-47 variant.
>>
>>32404528
Anybody know the progress of the Conservative bill to define the word "variant" in gun legislation so this bullshit cannot happen anymore?

And also to take one from the liberal playbook, Guns like the Blaze 47 are range toys for young shooters, not serious enthusiast guns, Won't somebody think of the children?

You could just turn the bullets around. Some soldiers used this trick back in WW1. Accuracy at close range is not diminished.
>>
>>32404593

>>32404620
You'd be better off leaving the choke in than taking it out. Even with a full choke you'll just get a bit of extra recoil firing rifled slugs.

You can fuck up the threads if you shoot your shotgun without a choke. If you're worried, just buy a cheap cylinder or skeet choke.
>>
>>32404620

What kind of choke is it?

The rifling on the slugs is specifically there so that the slugs can swage through the lighter chokes. You may actually see an improvement in accuracy through it.
